Thats weird. And it is the WACxxxxxxxxxx you are entering?
Yes. On the website it says "receipt number isn't recognized" and on the app it says "case not found with USCIS".
-
That's the android app I have, Sören. I tried to scan but that doesn't work either. I have to type the receiptnumber. The number that doesn't even exist according to their website and app. I think we might be screwed here, somebody at USCIS must've messed things up.
-
I've tried for weeks.
-
There is the phone app. They are search USCIS and it will pop up
Thank you, I just tried with one called USCIS Case Satus Notifier and I get the same message as I do on their webpage. The receipt number doesn't exist.
Is it possible that they gave us the wrong number? Or maybe you're not even supposed to be able to check your status until NOA2?
-
Is there any way to check your case status with the USCIS without calling them? In the NOA1 email we got it said to check the status on the USCIS website, but that doesn't work - it only tells us the receipt number is invalid. Is there some other place you can check it?

It's not illegal to get married on a tourist visa or on the VWP. Go ahead, as long as you don't stay longer than 90 days.
Bring things that show you will leave USA within 90 days. Like a return ticket and such that you can show them if they ask.

So now read after months that there is a facebook site for this group ?
It's very helpful too https://www.facebook.com/groups/923035551072108/

If she'll change her name when she marries you she'll need a new passport anyway with her new name, no matter when the old passport expires.

When your fiancé enters the US on a K-1 visa and you two get married, you file for AOS and EAD and AP. EAD is a work permit so he can work before he gets his greencard, and AP is so he can travel outside the US if he wishes to. It takes about 90 days to get those two, you don't have to wait until the AOS (green card) is approved (which can take up to a year or longer).

Sighs, well the visa medical dr's office FINALLY sent the paperwork to the embassy yesterday and sent the copy of the paperwork to my fiance via email as well. So now we wait for the embassy to receive it so they can approve his visa. I really hope they get the paperwork soon because the stress of this whole ordeal is making my hair fall out.
You have really had a lot of problems with that clinic, they don't seem to be very great to deal with? Is it the only clinic in Norway you could choose from? I hope everything will turn out great for you two soon.

It says in the guides that you should put the G-1145 in the front of your packet, in front of the cover letter. We completely missed that information and put it last, behind everything else. But it seemed to have worked anyway as we got both email and text message for our NOA1 (four days before we received the NOA1 hard copy). Haven't yet received NOA2, should be interesting to see if it works just as good.

Thursdays
Oh perfect, thank you!

Does anybody know what day(s) of the week they have K-1 interviews at the embassy in Sthlm? I assume it's not Monday to Friday.
-
It took 2 weeks for us, but that's including christmas and new years. So maybe 8 work days.

Like I said, your woman had a K-1, that is a non-immigrant visa (she doesn't apply for a green card until after she has already entered the country and married you). Had she already been your wife and you went for the CR-1 visa, then yes, she would've had to pay the immigrant fee as that visa is an immigrant visa.
All of us pay a fee before the interview, I will too when I get to that part. It has nothing to do with the ELIS however, as I'm applying for a non-immigrant visa (a K-1).
On USCIS page it also tells you that you don't need to pay that fee or have that number:"The following groups do not have to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee:-Children who enter the United States under the orphan or Hague adoption programs;-Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants;-Returning lawful permanent residents (SB-1s); and -
Isn't that fee and the ELIS number only for immigrant visas? The K-1 is a non-immigrant visa.
I could be wrong though. -
It's the same thing for me and I recieved my NOA1 on January 8. I think there's something wrong with their webpage, I'm not sure that you'll ever be able to see your status.
-
Maybe here if you only want a new passport? https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

Do K-1's also get a sealed packet you shouldn't open?

The EAD isn't very important to me as I don't have to work, but like you say, Maria, the AP might be good to have just in case.
So basically there's no point in only doing the AOS and not the other two, the price will still be the same and you get less out of it.
Thank you, Prystine and Maria. Very helpful. -
AOS is what you petition for when you've gotten married within the 90 days in the US so you can get your 2 year green card, right? I've seen people talk about "AP" and "EAD" too, what are those and what do you need them for? It's a bit confusing to me.

You sign the g-325a where it says "Signature of applicant". You and your fiancé need to fill out and sign one g-325a form each.
You put the petitioner's name and address on the cover letter as he/she is the one applying. You write one "intent to marry" each, you put your address and name on yours, he puts his address and name on his.
And the address for the USCIS, this is the one we put on the cover letter:United States Department of Homeland SecurityU.S. Citizenship and Immigration ServicesP.O. Box 660151Dallas, TX 75266 -
We didn't list every proof, we just wrote:
"- Proof of having met in person in the past two years- Proof of ongoing relationship"
We also didn't sign the proof we sent, we did however add a little info on the side to explain what the proof was showing, just to be extra clear.
We also sent our itinerary in the package (the one from the trip that had already happened though, not a future one). Not sure if they'd care about it or not, but we wanted to add as much as possible.

I'll to try call them, I'm just not sure how big the phone bill will be calling them from Sweden as you probably have to wait forever.
