My husbands medical was in Aug, when his visa was issued it had an expiration date 6 months from the date of his medical. we got married Jan 31, 2017 so if he comes into USA 2 years after he will get an 10 year green card so even though we applied for CR1 visa it all depends on the time he arrives in USA if he gets a 10 year green card. if his visa were to expire before our 2 year and he was forced into USA before he would only hold a 2 year conditional green card and we would have to pay ROC removing of conditions so he could get the 10 year green card. His visa does not expire until Feb 7, 2019....so he will enter into USA on Feb 1st 2019 this will give him a 10 year green card and then after being in USA for 3 years we can file for his citizenship.

All visas have an expiration date of 6 months from the date of the medical, if the visa is issued after 5 months of the medical that would explain a 1 month until expiration date.

I will never recommend that. He needs to enter the US and then deal with ROC. This is what I will do if I am in your husband shoes.

and I will tell you why?

When they issued the visa that means you needs to leave. Then they will ask their selfs why he enter the US late??? And then they will say it’s about the visa?? He has the right to enter the US with his visa. But they will question him why you didn’t come during this time? Plus when he will apply for SSN and Green card it will takes around a month to three months and by that his visa will be expired and if any police officers stopped him it will be an issue. If he wants to go to hospital it will be an issue. Do you know he can work with his visa and also get a driver license until he get the green card and ssn . But if his visa expired he has to stay home.

Can you clarify? I know that a visa issued in the IR1 category has an expiration of 1 month; that is, you must travel to the U.S within one month of its issuance. I'm not sure about CR1, but I think that's your case's category, so what's the validity of the visa here?

    Also, what is an ROC?

Sometimes they give a month up to 6 months in both IR1/CR1

Update - it's been awhile I have not been here sense returning from Egypt in early 2018. Our case was logged back in to USCIS 5-15-18
Today marks our 180th day and still waiting for NOIR paperwork
Senator's office said we wont hear anything from Texas service center until early 2019

That is not true they only have 180 days to give you a respond and that means requesting more evidence, but by telling you next year that doesn’t make any sense.I’m sorry that you have to go through all of that. Wish for you guys the best.

    Hello everyone and salam

as some of you may know, I am married to an American citizen, applied in Feb. 2016 and it was smooth until I got my interview scheduled in Jan. 2017 then I have been on AP since then

I got a call from the embassy about a month and a half ago asking me to send them new medical exam, new police certificate, my passport and resubmit the ds-260 online after they reopened it for me

i did that then once they received it they sent an email asking me to schedule an email, it was confusing because it was one of their molded emails like the thing u wud get from NVC so I emailed them and they said it is for retaking the oath (I guess it is since I resubmitted the ds-260) I scheduled it and attended last Sunday and the African American small cheerful man told me congratulations and that I will have my passport via aramex in two weeks after making me swear that the data is correct

got one update that day and another yesterday but nothing serious

i hope this gives you some hope :) prayers for everyone including myself

    hang on there

They will never tell you congratulations if they will reject it. So be patient more patient brother you are done from these processes.and I want to welcome you to America in sha Allah very soon.  Sometimes once you resubmit all the documents they need it will issue in two weeks up to 6 or 8 weeks. Don’t worry in sha Allah khier.

Yeah I know you do brother

this is what we are trying to do, living together in Egypt for few months now while waiting

do you know if I need to tell them about that she is with me not in America?

They don’t care where she is,when they place a case in AP most likely under investigation and once this finish you will see the result,it could take a day,a week, month or maybe a year,it’s not about you,it could be a lot of reasons.don’t stress about what you don’t know.just keep asking them every week and see what they do.for your info they know where she is they don’t need you to tell them.

  8. I'm sorry for all cases that they returned to NVC , and for who all waiting to get approved, hope for all of you the best more than I have to get approved very soon In sha Allah very soon ya Rabb ( oh Allah please give them the approval soon ) Ameen.

Note: for everyone who dream about USA the most respected country and have most good people, please prepare yourself:-

1- To respect people here ( privacy - religion - differences - needs - traditions and customs )

2- Do not involve yourself with things that you don't know or follow anyone telling you something except if you ask ( from my experience a lot of Arab people taking an advantage because you do not know) i'm not saying all of arab because I am Arab( Egyptian ) , I'm just saying be careful .

3- don't dream about the perfect job once you get out of plane. ( you have to start from scratch and work hard to reach out to your dream job ).

4- learn new culture ( American culture ) most of the people here came and they didn't know anything about this country except my wife is American.

5- respect your partner and know where they coming from.

6- respect your parents in law and love them.

7- don't let anyone who is raciest to pull you into his/her storm. and please ( don't think that all Americans like that ) because the Americans I know they are smart and good people and this will never changes even If I went in a different situations that you see raciest hate you and ask you to leave the country, there are a lot of good Americans are here that they are a good people means good people, helping and supporting you and loving you being with them.

8- leave the thoughts that you have about America that you see in our public tv. and please don't follow.

9- love the job you will get here because you maybe a doctor in your country but when you come here you will start to work any job that it's really less that what you were doing in your country until you get CRT and start working again as a doctor.

10- don't let the changes and differences to change your Identity that is why your wife married you for ( you can only change from bad to good ) but if you let the changes effect you , by the end of the day you will find yourself wearing a different suit that it doesn't fit you or even look good at you and your wife/husband will say who you are ? and please love your family, wife and kids, and give them from your time as much as you can.

i'm trying to say prepare yourself Brother/Sister before you came here, and love yourself and your partner, and be thankful that he/she waited for you all that long to be together and the hard times being separate from each other during this process.

Appreciate what you have to get more than you want.

thank you for still accepting me here brothers and sisters and wish for you all the best better than I have.

Ya but medical exam appointments day June 28 he call many places for the Ramadan and EID

that is not far away , BTW they just need to see if he has medical issues ( any changes ) or smoking weeds ( and this most thing they are looking for ), that is all , so most likely once they receive medical record in sha Allah , it will takes from 1 to 3 weeks , and usually they don't wait and close the case with approved within one week for the high volume they have, hope for you to Celebrate the EID with your husband by hearing that his visa is approved in sha Allah.

Thank u Halalbrother honestly I was reading all your writing on Visa journey and I follow u and I told my husband be patient let them do them job inchallah soon we will be approved

In my time when i applied , I was last one to get approved, and I was seeing K1 got approved more than CR1/ 2 and couple from same sex get approved but not me yet, my wife contacted everyone in USA, but there is no any authority on US embassy in Egypt, and the only thing was ( waiting time ) , I told myself why I need to be stress on something that I don't have control over, leave it to Allah ( God ) he is the best planner, if it meant to be it will but just be patient and it will happen in the prefect time, wish for you all the best , and enjoy your days, don't let your days go for nothing, you married American and you know you will go through all of that, so you already knows it's not easy process specially for Muslims, ( I don't know why ) but anyway I taught my lesson and I told myself from now and on you need to be patient and enjoy your life and don't stress for things that you don't have control over , do your best and you will always find Allah support you and your family.

Yes it is me from that Group on FB.

I was able to make an Appointment on that site for March 27th. We will still go to this appointment and hopefully we can discuss our case. At least it shows them I am here in Egypt, my 4th time now with my husband and fighting for our case to remain in Egypt.

Should we take some more evidence with us? Any suggestions? This trip I am here for 1.5 months. We spent 1 week in Alexandria going to several touristy spots. Took lots of photos. We rented my husbands friends apartment. We can get  statement from him and also a statement from his boss to take leave for this week from the office.

I sent an email yesterday but they have not responded and no case status update as well.

We are determined!! Insha'Allah we will be approved in the end.

    Shukran

Strong proof not pictures only, it's the way you represent your case, one of the proof is pictures but it's not everything, they are looking into details that you and your husband didn't take a look at because your relationship is not fake but they are looking into it as a fake relationship. so what I need to do?, show them how many I Enter Egypt, how long I know him, How we got married and why, what are our plans? where we are staying in Egypt, if they ask what is your plan when you enter the us? things like that, sounds Crazy I know, but they are looking into this evidence they are not looking how much you are loving each other plus it depends on the consular. I'm sorry to hear that, going to the us Embassy is not going to help except if you setup an appointment, but if your file still here that could help if you represent yourself and relationship very well to the consular, if the file sent back to US that means this visit will end with nothing. I just wish for you guys the best and May Allah bring you together, Allahum Ameen.

    We have been Denied

We were in AP for just over 6 months. I called the Senator's office for help in status. Just found out from my Senator that our case was denied. I am here in Egypt now with my husband and sent an email to the Embassy in which they replied:

    Dear *******

Thank you for your email.  We regret any confusion regarding Mr. ***** immigrant visa application (CRO********).  Our records indicate that Mr. -****** immigrant visa case is being sent to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) with the recommendation that the petition should be revoked because Mr. Ismail was unable to demonstrate that there is a qualifying relationship for this visa category.

If you have any questions or would like additional information you may contact USCIS at www.uscis.gov.

    Best regards,

    Immigrant Visa Unit

    U.S. Embassy Cairo

I'm really sorry to hear about that, and once it's here in US you will need to revoke it and it takes as I remember from 90 up to 180 days so they will ask you to file all the documentations that is showing the relationship it true and right, and then after they accept it it takes from 6 weeks up to 90 days then they will send it back to US Embassy in Cairo and set another interview.

I'm really really sorry to hear that, but I wish for you guys a smooth process revoking this Visa.

Don't worry about politics, if this Visa mean to be yours it will, put your trust in Allah and do your best, I'm not saying what to do here for not misunderstand me, but I was in your shoes waiting for a long time for my visa, and seeing everyone else get it and it feels disappointment but to be honest, I was counting seconds to be with my family and life is very slow and I can't get any info from Embassy but I got it when I was ready and I always believe that everything happened for a reason, so leave it to Allah he is the best planner and do your best ( I know you already did ) but always trust in Allah and feel optimistic :)

Immigration laws and rules change frequently now more than ever.

I've had a friend who got his visa with only 1 month expiration date of his IR1 visa, which is a very short time to pack your bags, leave family, work and/or house behind, and book your tickets.

So, I'm happy that you have 4 and half months :).

They probably changed it because they know there's no real reason for long expiration dates.

Most people enter the U.S within a couple of months maximum after getting their visa (I guess).

That is correct because they looking into it like you got your visa you need to leave there is no delay for that because you waited a long time for it , but that is not in every case , because every case is different.
