  1. Unfortunately I have no updates, but I am another transfer from NSC to Potomac.

Priority date is July 9th, 2015 for I-30 Spouse.

I finally received the hard copy of the transfer notice last thursday but there is nothing helpful in it.

Actually, while sitting here preparing to post, I decided to read over the hard copy notification again. I just noticed that I no longer have a priority date and that my receipt date is changed from July 9th to July 7th. The priority date field is empty.

Has anyone even received a notification from the Potomac Center that their case has been received there?

  2. Eventually we received our NOA2 approval. Things are starting to happen again ?.

Congrats!!!!! (Is it wrong that I'm jealous? lolz)

July 16 I got my receipt number for the I130 I filed for my husband. My case was transferred to Arligton VA from Nebraska. And now I'm just waiting. A bit confused on when this is going to finally happen.

Hello Cali! Have you received the Hard Copy yet for the transfer?

  3. Cheer up! you're close to the end of this phase. From what i've seen in the time line for previous VJ's from india and Pakistan, approvals have been received as early as 4 months and 1 week! I hope that's the case for your case.......and mine! :)

And mine! I'm praying my notice is in the mail tomorrow. Seems that most of the rest of us July Nebraska filers have received their transfer notice. Any else not get it yet?

  4. Here's my imagination running...

Someone (or maybe a few people) at Nebraska weren't pulling their weight so they were let go and all the cases sitting on their desks were transfered. Krissyb93, that would mean that yours is going to be processed soon by someone who is actually working efficiently. The rest of us just have to wait for them to land on someone elses desk at the new center. *fingers crossed the mail will fly swift and true*.

I stopped by my pobox around noon and again after 5pm today. Nothing from USCIS. Hopefully tomorrow!

  5. Will I have to fill out an affidafit such as you posted previously and simply state that I had no income?

I think a simple letter is all that's needed. We sent a notarized affidavit because that's what our attorney suggested and there was a notary easily available, but the instructions only require "a written explanation". You will need a letter. You as the petitioner are the principal sponsor and must complete an i-864 even if you had no income, so you'll need to either provide tax transcripts/returns or a written explanation of why you did not file.

Will my husband need to list my parents Lawyer as the Agent/Attourney selected?

I don't think so, if their attorney's simply advising/assisting with the preparation of their i-864 and i-864a, but presumably the attorney will know whether or not the extent of his/her involvement requires a G-28 to be filed. Simplest thing would be ask him/her.

Since my husband is filing through the Consulate in South Africa will my parents have to send the completed I-864 and my statement to him to file with his application from the NVC (once we FINALLY get it)?

Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with the process to say for sure - we did AOS so I don't have personal experience of the IR-1 route. I think it varies depending on the consulate. According to the Consulate Info for Johannesburg here at VJ

What forms should be send back to the Consulate? As listed in your packets

IR1/CR1: All "packets" sent via email. Any originals not previously sent must be taken with to interview. No documents to be sent to Consulate.

And finally, will my husband need his own lawyer from South Africa to file his application?

    No :-)

    Thank you!

  6. Thank you very much for that Elf! I am in a similiar situation. We haven't come to that point yet but I would like to be prepared when we get there.

For the past 8 years I was living in South Africa with my South African husband. Since I was there on an acc spouse visa I was not able to legally work and therefor had no income. So, I have no taxes filed at all for 8 years.

I am now back in the states with our two kids (they have dual citizenship) and we are waiting for our NOA2.

What worries me is that my parents have offered to file as joint sponsers and they have procured a lawyer to help them complete it. My question(s) are:

Will I have to fill out an affidafit such as you posted previously and simply state that I had no income? Will my husband need to list my parents Lawyer as the Agent/Attourney selected? 7. Hello everyone! Another July filer here.

I'm the USC, he's in South Africa (never been out of the country). I lived there with him married for 8 years. 2 kids now dual citizenship are here with me. First NOA receipt date is July 9th.

The first activity I've seen was the same notice that my case was transfered from the Nebraska Center, received an email and SMS on Oct 15th. Hopefully the hardcopy will be in my mailbox on Monday.

This wait is driving me NUTS!

Congrats to all of you who have moved forward!

  8. Hello everyone!

As most others who post here, I am new to the forum. I've been researching everything I can for a few days now and am looking forward to finding yet more good advice. As expected I have a ton of questions.

First, grab a snack and a beverage and I'll tell you my story.

I am an USC (born and raised). I am also a gamer. I had actually quit online gaming 9 years ago but a very persistent friend convinced me to play just one more time with his group. It took him months to convince me, but he did. For that I will forever be thankful as it was there in the dark void of cyberspace that my path crossed my husbands. Within months we knew fate had put us togehter and had to meet. He flew me to South Africa. Just over a month later we married. 8 years and 2 beautiful children later we are still very happily married, with one exception.

in 2014 RSA changed the requirements for acc spouse renewals that we were not aware of. When we went to home affairs there to renew we found out. Unfortunately it was much too late to accomodate the new requirements. We looked at this as another play by the hand of fate. A chance to finally get us all to the States (which was always the plan but two pregnancies back to back put a big delay on things.) I came back, with our two children in May 2015. By the end of June I had everything ready and mailed off my I-130 petition for my Husband's immigration. my NOA-1 recepit date is July 6th, 2015. I just received a notice via SMS yesterday that my petition has been transfered to a different center and am (im)patiently waiting for the physical mail to explain when and where.

    That's the quicky version.

I have to say that perusing other posts on this site has answered several questions but has also created many more. Thank you in advance, for answers already given and those yet to be received!
