WOW! It's going to take me a week to catch up on the June thread and July is already on page 4
I'm gonna need more coffee.
Simming through I've seen lots and lots of great interviews and approvals. Congrats to you all!
For those of us who have interviews scheduled, hang tight! It's coming!
For those waiting for interview date, It may seem a long time but it will happen faster than you think. It's kind of like getting to the last chapter of a REALLY great book but having to put it down to do things like laundry, grocery shopping, change the oil in your car....
Still waiting for hubby's interview on June 30th. We have everything we need except for our marriage certificate. He had gone to home affairs over a year ago to order one (I kept the original since we needed it for all the documentation) and I really don't want to have to post it back to him. If he doesn't get any news by this friday I'll send it off. Probably with a small care package to suprise him.
On a side note, which should have been a first note, Thank you THANK YOU to the group of you who work so hard to make these threads work (you grand few know who you are.). I know there are a lot of us who would have been completely lost without the combined knowledge and research you guys/gals put into this.
Baked cyber cookies all around for you!

Deji,
Thanks so much. It really means a lot. I think back to when you and LinJoe emailed me with a question back in February and now look at you about to join your wife and LinJoe has an interview for her husband. We've all come a long way. You started the Forum for us and the rest is history with the special touch of dwheels76 and others. Both of you have been inspiration to me. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME, HE IS GOOD.
I second that! The whole thing! (except the part about the email. I didn't get an email

Congratulations. You are updated.. Man that didn't take long.
Thanks dwheels! Seems like it was longer, but compared to others we seem to have been very blessed. I sincerely feel the pain of everyone who has to wait and wait and problems come up and wait some more. It really is the not knowing anything definitive that drives the anger, depression and madness.
I do have to comment that I was always nervous about calling NVC to try and get any information. While the NVC people were WAY easier to deal with than the USCIS people, I still never had a really bad experience with either. Regardless of what type of mood the operator was in I forced myself to smile, be overly pleasant and not spew my stress/anger/pain/loneliness through the phone like a fire hose. I believe that helped to make a difference. I don't know if they all make notes on our case file but having worked in call centers for many years, every single little thing is noted somewhere. Most operators I spoke to during this process were genuinely pleased that I wished them a wonderful day/evening/weekend.
(I probably should have posted that way back on the USCIS board. LOL)

I've got another question for all of you wonderful people.
I've been going through the forums her and elsewhere to find out the best procedure to follow for booking hubby's flight. The answers are all over the place!
The most popular advice is to NOT BOOK until he has his visa in hand. However, that advice is mostly for people getting the fiance and other visa's. Hubby's interview is at the Consulate in South Africa where they process right there and it's for an IR-1/CR-1 Visa. Does this make a difference? Would it be safe to book a changeable ticket within a day or two of his interview?

Just confirmed hubby's interview date! June 30th at 1pm his time. I had only called to find out if the South African embassy was still scheduling interviews for June (pressed 7) and Eve, a very pleasant woman, informed me that they had just scheduled his interview. She verified our email addresses to make sure we would get the notice. WOOOHOO!!!!!!!
Also, Congrats AND big thanks to dhweels and Lin, and everyone else who's anxiously waiting for that last step over the mountain!
Don't worry LoveinGhana, it's coming!! *shoots streams of awesome Karma your way*

Just called to confirm CC. Now to wait for the interview to be scheduled.

Super congrats to all who have moved on to their Interviews!
SuperDooper congrats to those just waiting for their spouse/family to get here!!!
I was finally able to send in our AOS and IV packets yesterday (had to overnight them. I have no patience left). They're supposed to be there by noon today. I'm praying X infinity that it goes all speedy. It would be amazing for hubby to not have to miss another of our daughter's birthdays (june 12th).
*sprinkles of good karma and luck dust for everyone*

Hi Hira,
The same checklist happened to me...the fault was ours since my husband downloaded the forms to his computer and didn't think to check for an updated version. We prepared our packets since early Nov and was awaiting the police clearance from my country. When we got the police certificate finally, we mailed out both packages. On day 35 of the docs being at nvc, I called and found out about our checklist for an updated version of their Affidavit of Support form...which was updated on Nov 30, 2015!
So...long story short...they didn't look at my i864s at all since the forms were expired! They told me to download the latest version and send it back in to them with ALL the supporting docs again...this would have an additional 30-45 day wait for them to review...again!!
Be patient and know that your case will complete soon.
Hello Hira and Amadia. Sincerely sorry to hear about the complication with the bad form dates for you both. I will be completing our AOS forms this Sunday and want to make sure that everything is correct. Can anyone verify exactly which version/dates need to be used? The USCIS website form says expires 7/31/2017 at the top and on the bottom left of each page it says form i-864 7/02/15 N
Is this the correct form to use?
Also, my lovely superduty high quality *coughhackcough* printer refuses to print the bottom bar and date. It just leaves a blank space. Are they important? Should I go have them printed up at a printers?

A marriage certificate of past marriage? Why? Wouldn't the divorcee decree suffice?
They don't have a divorce decree. She passed due to complications from diabetes. We have a copy of her death cert but the lovely woman at NVC said he will need to provide his marriage cert to her also to prove they were married.

Your father's tax transcripts will do. It has everything they need.
Sure print up the SS income report.
Proof of relationship doesn't pertain to spousal visa types. That's for a different thing.
You don't have to show any evidence proof of relationship with joint sponsor.
You are free to send in evidence of your bonafide relationship. You can submit more evidence, or for those who didn't know and Want to send some evidence. Or whatever. You don't have to if you did enough with your initial petition.
dwheels to the rescue again. Thank you!
AOS has been paid. Waiting for the IV fee to activate. I did find out that we are going to need a copy of my husbands first marriage certificate though. That, unfortunately, may take some time due to the nature of home affairs in RSA. Hopefully it won't take too long.

Congrats Tommal and Chief Mrs. Edah!
Welcome kdf!
I have another question for this amazing thread and am praying that dwheels is around. I just received our welcome emails (woot woot!) and on the checklist for financial documents I'm unsure about these:
Evidence of income - My father is our joint sponsor as I have no income. Hubby is the breadwinner in our family. I'm a Mother, wife and full time student. My father is retired but still makes enough through social security and investment pay outs that he more than meets the requirements. Will he need to get bank statements or something to prove his income? or will his tax transcripts be enough?
Proof of relationship - This is listed under financial documents, will this be proof that my father is my father or is this all the skype and whatsapp convos and pictures and things of he and I?
Social Security Earnings Statement - Is it ok to simply print up the report we can get online? Will my father need his also?
Thanks in advance everyone!

I have a question about the AOS form, and all subsequent forms I will be filling out. When I originally filed the I-130 I used my maiden name because I was filing from here (USA) and none of my govt id/docs had my married name on them yet (we were married in South Africa over 8 years ago). After I filed the I-130 I worked on getting everything else changed. I've got it all done now, ss card, drivers license, postal service, taxes blah blah blah...everything except my US passport because it's an extra $110 that I would rather spend on this stuff lol.
So, when I fill out the forms for NVC should I be using my married name that all my current documentation has or my maiden name that the original form was filed under?

Since u have the case number and assuming invoice number then u can go ahead and do the ds261 and pay the aos fee...
I tried. It says that currently my case can't be processed further. I called again and they said I have to wait for the welcome email
This is what it says when I try to get in there to do it.
"Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please contact the National Visa Center if you believe that you have received this message in error. "

I am so happy your case is finally approved!!! NVC stage goes much faster.
Good to see you again hun! I just got off the phone with NVC. Got our case number! WOOHOO!
Now I'm waiting for the little ping for my welcome email so I can start the forms! WOOHO!!! I'm dancin!

On March 7, 2016, we sent your case, Receipt Number SRC#######, to the Department of State for visa processing. Please visit our website for general information on Consular Processing. If you move, go towww.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address
so, what's next?
when do you guys think the NVC will receive the case?
That, Mostifo, is the billion dollar question.

Hi everyone! I'm just posting a quick greeting before I go back through to read the whole thread.
After nearly 8 months our i-130 was finally approved at USCIS! Now I just need to wait for the case number from NVC.
-

-
We're Approved!!!! Finally. Nothing in the mail yet but they updated my USCIS page.
-
Is anyone else having trouble accessing the USCIS case staus page today?
-
Jeeez and here I was complaining about being from August 7th.... the RFE really messed up your case it seems like.
Hopefully since this has picked up dramatically they get involved with your case and give you that NOA2 soon
Actually, I just got off the phone with someone from my state congressional office. They are going to look into it, or at least contact the right people to check into it and hopefully get some answers.
She did mention something that not a single person from the USCIS has stated. She said that it is possible that USCIS is stll waiting on information/confirmations from my husbands govt. That would make sense considering we spent 7 years trying to get me permanent residence there and it never once went anywhere, never processed, not a thing. Immigration isn't a priority there, especially going out of the country.
Who knows. Hopefully something will happen, and quickly!
Case Complete to Interview July 2016
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports

Hubby was approved! It was touch and go he said as his medical information didn't arrive until the second part of his interview. Now we just have to wait the 7-10 days (UGH really? that long?) for them to process the Visa and get his passport to DHL.
If he gets his passport/visa in time his POE will be Tampa on the 9th. If it doesn't come early it will be Tampa on the 16th.
