  1. Where are the good restaurants ME in Houston??? thanks .....

can anyone help me...I am a beginner and never liked the food i saw in egypt..and so i kind of avoided the kitchen..but i want to suprise my husband when he comes home and make him something special....what is a good thing that is simple and hard to mess up that yall would recommend? I saw a few things in the middle eastern section at the store like couscous and grape leaves. I appreciate any input on a easy recipe.

  2. Sorry but tht was a really weird post and did not help at all in your argument. You seem like you are rationalizing the hitting and that is sad. ALthough multiple wives were in Bible, it does not mean it was condoned by God...Americans dont "prefer extramarital affairs" but it happens. I'd rather it be that way than be the one to allow my husband to have relations with anohter when I know about it. The latter is more of a fall from grace whereas the previous is an allowance and acceptance of it...anyway or either way it is disgusting. I dont know what your deal is you showcase ur relgion in your signature and now complain.

  3. Trust is the most important thing in a marriage. I dont know how you can trust him after what he did. I dont think there is any excuse for that in any culture. Criminals get put in jail for things they dont do as well as for ones they do, do. I think I would go on a rampage if that was something my husband did ---I hope your husband starts making it up to you and that he understands how much damage he caused u.

  4. Happy Tuesday everybody. Its only been 12 days since my husband left and he will be gone at least a month and 1/2 more. I am realy getting depressed and I am taking just one class in summer school. I really want to find a job to occupy my mind and not go crazy but I don't wana work at a crappy job either. My brother suggested I gte a job as a teller at the bank...I just have my associates degree so far and Im a senior in college and have like 100 or something hours. Do you have to have a BA for bank teller? Kelly, is that wat you do? I dont have much experience and my degree is Criminal Justice/Sociology..do they care? THanks for any information! Have a good day

  5. Yeah I agree it happens everywhere, but sometimes it feels like there are more idiots here in Texas. There are a lot of idiots here and a lot of war supporters. I have to deal with a lot of these people and sometimes I just cant take it. Anyways, he was thinkging of changing his name when he gets citizenship...but Im not sure if that will help him get a good job...

  6. sorry about that...I am really getting tired of people judging my husband also...even though some people think he is mexican and try speaking spanish to him...he was discriminated against in trying to apply for a job. We live amongst a bunch of hillbillies and I am so desperate to get out of this town and closer to civilized people--

I dunno if anyone else has had this problem, but everytime ahmed gets an interview, they ask him a lot of questions about the pyramids, does he like it here, what does he miss, and that frustrates him so much because he wants to be treated like any other person....they alwyas tell him they wll call him and then do not even bother to say no thanks. I can only imagine how that would feel. Does anyone else have this problem

  7. hi every1--

hope you are all doing well...im so tired of school--they are always changing the degree plans and Im always changin my mind..lol...seems liek it will be forever! one guy in my class has been in school 8 years so far...i cant wait until we have a stable life~ have a great day

  8. polarbear, I understand how you feel...if I were you I would feel that way too...my husband just suprised hsi family and showed up 2 days ago he will be there for 2 or 3 months....I know its only been 2 days for me but this is much harder to get used to when you already became used to living together in usa. it felt much easier before he had come and we were apart. lcukily for me he is just trying to get his bizness done and come hoem asap....is it possible to change our ticket return date through expedia? Havent done that before so just wondering....by the way, what are you going to school for? Good luck on his quick return!

  9. Without delving too much into the topic...I understand what you mean...just the part about where you said that even if they are muslim ad not religious they would stil feel that way? It really is philosophical because if you think that being born to a muslim or christian dad means the kid is that religion then you are looking at the matter from that standpoint and not hte standpoint of every human being born with the ability to choose their own beliefs, rather than your dad/moms muslim or christian, etc. so u are automatically one? Its just a difference of views, and also some people do not choose to be so religious ..i think its a matter of compromise and discussion between spouses. I do agree though that if one is a religious fanatic that will cause fights for suure and aboust the family...i do not agree that all families would be upset....its just not true---there are a lot of people who are more tolerant than that

  10. Hi everybody,

Today is final exam study day for me...but I do have a question. We want to have a real wedding here at least by our 3rd aniversary..b/c we did not get to do things as we liked in egypt...I really love the egypt wedding dresses especially the ones that are so decorated and colorful, u know what I mean? Some of them are white with color, or just really decorated and I have never seen anything like them here. I got my old wed dress from a store(aboudi??) in Cairo but I am in love with the colorful ones, and we will marry again in a rose garden and I really want to get one of those dresses for it. Anyways, I cant afford to go to eg with my husband or for the next couple years..so I was going to ask him to take pics of the ones they have and give him my measurements to get it for me. He is leaving on Jul 3. Is this a bad idea or do you think that it could be tailored here if its not exactly right? WHo shoulc I go to get measured for this or do I do it myself? Does anyone knwo how much those colorful dresses cost? Will 1,000 be enough or what?

my old dress wasnt too much but it was nice so 1,000 seems liek you could get a realy nice one? What do u think?

PS-are there any other good stores for dresses to check out in Cairo?

    Thanks a lot

  11. i hope so...but there is one good thing to look forward to...since coming to america a year ago he gained a little weight due to our bad but good food...lol..we are college students also so that doesnt help much...but i dunno if anyone else dealt with that? :D He said he is going to go back to eating healthy and working out everyday..I can just imagine him coming back with the body of david beckham.....

  12. good morning every1. in a week my husband is leaving to egypt for 3 months to finish his school. This really feels so weird after all we have gone through for him to leave again! We are always together all of the time so I am scared to feel apart for that long again.. I hope getting his degree ends up being worth it in the end..have a good day guys

  13. Thanks julianna-

    I found this--Accreditation

AUC holds institutional accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States (MSCHE /"Middle States").

Institutional accreditation status is granted by Middle States for a period of ten years, with a mid-way periodic review. AUC is now preparing for consideration of re-accreditation by Middle States. The adherent self-study process, which involves participants from all units of the institution and focuses on all areas of activities and services, is an opportunity to focus attention on where the university stands in terms of achieving its goals and standards, and focus efforts on areas that need enhancement and changes, as well as defining new challenges, in academic endeavors and in organizational matters

In Egypt, AUC operates within the framework of a 1975 protocol with the Egyptian government which in turn is based on a 1962 cultural relations agreement between the Egyptian and the U.S. governments.

In the United States of America, AUC is licensed to grant degrees and is incorporated by the State of Delaware.

    Additional Accreditation

The computer science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, and the SSE construction engineering and mechanical engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012; Tel. (410) 347-7700; www.abet.org). ABET-accredited programs are recognized worldwide. Graduates of ABET-accredited engineering programs are eligible to register as professional engineers in many countries around the world, including the United States, Canada and Australia, after passing the required examinations.

AUC's School of Business, Economics and Communications is the first in Egypt and North Africa to be awarded accreditation of its business programs from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). The AACSB accreditation is considered the highest standard of achievement for business schools. There are about 45,000 business schools worldwide, and only 540 schools outside of the United States are accredited by AACSB.

For more information about accreditation, visit IPART .

---from reading that ..it seems like it is accepted right??? Thanks so muchh

  14. What about this===

Isn't the american univ. in cairo accredited and accepted here? I found some courses from it transfer to my college. Can my husband transfer his hours from suez university to AUC and then graduate from there after he takes his last 2 classes? That way, when he comes here he would have that degree from there which seems better and more accepted??? He is thinknig about graduate school here so does anyone like mohamed know if that is possible? He is going to ask the college but what do u think?

  15. My husband will be going back to his country to get his degree in business managment in a week or so. I was just wondering because I am not familiar with graduate degrees ....does that mean that when he has his egyptian degree that he could go to graduate school here without any more USA schooling? I guess what I mean is..his degree is adequate to be able to attend grad school here by just taking toefl and gre? If anyone has any experience or knowledge about this is would be awesome. Thanks for reading

    Kristy
