I did not say you are a liar do not add words to my post. What you posted made no sense and advising not to disclose kids is lying. I did not say you personally did do that. No reason to get your feathers ruffled, be clear when you post. Meaning something other than what your words convey can cause problems for others. You can clarify without an attitude.

Too late!!  I already have an attitude.

My account will be deactivated.  I was hoping to stick around to see all of you be joined with your soul mates but it looks like that wont happen.  So I wish you all the best and my prayers are with you!

    God Bless!!

Some may take your words wrongly. They already know who has kids in Ghana if it was truthfully disclosed on the forms, if it wasn't then that's a problem. Why would they have to find out when disclosed already ? They know.

    You said and I quote:

And be careful with that because if they find out he has kids in Ghana that can be a red flag.  So I personally wouldnt tell them that he has kids staying in Ghana. "

Well I hope I made myself clear in my last comment, which was to bring the BC anyhow, just in case they ask.  Period!!   Is this better for you!!!

My initial comment did not take any consideration of any previous forms noting that he did have kids.  If I realized that then I would not have said it.  So let it go ....okay!  And please don't say that I am a LIAR!  Because that is one thing that I am not.  THANK YOU!!!!  and have a good day!

Lying about having children would be a misrepresentation and incur a ban, on paper or verbally.
Children must be listed in forms and forms are cross checked for consistent data.

But i didnt say LIE.  I said only if they ASK then you must present the childrens birth certificates.  Thats it!!  I am only addressing the birth certificate question....not anything more.

This is just my opinion - since they are not migrating I'd say you wouldn't need them. BUT, I'd take them with me just in case.  IKD if that helps u or not.  Anyone else have an opinion?

I agree.  I would bring it just in case they ask for them.  But its not needed.  Its only needed if his kids were migrating also.  And be careful with that because if they find out he has kids in Ghana that can be a red flag.  So I personally wouldnt tell them that he has kids staying in Ghana.

People flying to the US from Canada ALWAYS clear US CUSTOMS....IN... Canada, making their flight from Canada to the US like a domestic flight.  It's been that way for many years.  So, I suspect it was US Customs that opened and KEPT her package.

It is best to pay the New Immigrant Fee BEFORE your spouse enters the US, so that their ENTRY triggers the production of the green card.  The card comes sooner that way.

I didnt know that. Thanks!  Good idea 👍

what Airline is he flying with... My visa got approved and trying to find a reliable airline company apart from Delta Airlines to use, since the price is a bit high at the moment and I have the same concerns you just raised. thanks.

Congratulations!!  We have made it thru.😄  All flight are on the pricey side because its summer time here.  But we found a reasonable price with Tap Portugal airlines. From Ghana to Portugal then to Newark New Jersey.  South African airlines is also reasonable. I didnt want my husband traveling with multiple stops.  I personally dont think thats a wise idea. But try those airlines and see for yourself. 😀✈

Some airports in Canada have US customs and border protection officers, so that people boarding flights to the US go through US immigration and customs before getting on the plane rather than after arriving in the US. This is probably what happened to your acquaintance. Her POE was in Canada, not in Philly.

I see, that makes sense that they would have US customs in Canada.  Thank you!

The fee myst be paid online. It is not collected at POE

The immigration packet is only handed to the US CBP officer at POE into the US. It is not needed or given to anyone else

At his layover in this foreign country will he have to go thru customs?  If so, wont they want to look into this package?  I say this because I know someone who traveled on a CR1 visa from the Philippines, had a layover in Canada and the Canadian customs opened her package.  She was quite nervous because she thought only customs in the US were allowed to do so.

Fortunately, all went well for her at her POE in Philadelphia.

  9. Hi Visa Journey Family,

My husband will soon travel to the US and I needed to know if he will have to pay the $220 immigration fee at the POE? Also, because he has one layover in another country will that foreign country open his "do not open" package?  I heard that once he exits Ghana to another country, whichever that country is, customs will open his package.  Is this true?  I always thought this package could not be opened by no one except customs here in the USA.

My hubby had his interview yesterday . Our case was re-affirmed after being denied at his interview last year.   First, I was not allowed to attend  his interview  even  though  my attorney  told me I could. The people and security  there  were very rude. We took stacks of documents  to the interview.  My husband  was asked 4 questions.  Then he was approved. I saw at least 3 other couples that were approved also. It's  been 3 years of ongoing  drama. I wish every else well in their journey.

Aww.  I am so happy for you!!  I know how you feel.  It has been a tough and long journey but you both did it.  CONGRATULATIONS!:D

I think the Ghana embassy has made a complete change for the better.  I have a feeling we will hear many more approvals.

  11. Good Question...and that's funny you ask because that's what am doing now.  Preparing for my husbands arrival next month.  First, I plan to make room in my closet, HA!, then we plan to visit all my family.  Since my husband is from Ghana I searched and found a Ghanaian restaurant for us to go too, and I youtubed how to cook some of his favorite home dishes.  (I hope that's a success :)).  Then when things start to settle down we will sit down and go over all the household bills.  He has a good business sense so he would be better at budgeting then me.  Before he arrives I will get a current Driver's license book for him to study for and lastly we will plan a short trip to someplace (not sure yet) to celebrate out 2nd year anniversary in November.  :D

    I hope this helps.

No, we were initially denied the K1 and then applied for the CR1 and was approved last week.

My husband has to travel a distance to this DHL office and I would hate for him to go there and its not ready.  Was curious to know if its possible to call before picking it up?

Huraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy:dance:...Visa status on ceac.state.gov changed this morning to : ISSUED, that was quick, it was AP yesterday means my wife is almost set . Thank God Almighty. I think she can go to DHL early next week as she was told by the CO

That is wonderful! So happy for you.

Is there anyway to call the DHL office to verify if the visa is ready for pick up before traveling all the way there?  My Husbands visa says issued but I would hate for him to attempt to pick it up and they tell him its not there.

trustG thank you so much, I will share every piece of information here for the rest of you who are on the way....It will help. this site helped us a lot.... I think this is an approval of my wife's visa, RIGHT?

Yes it is.  It sounds like she is approved.  :) So happy for you guys.  Congrats!!:D

  15. That's a good idea. But I am terrible with driving directions outside of Philly.  The furthest I can do is to AC and back.  My sense of direction is bad.  HA!  Is driving to JFK simple or a bit complicated?  If so, I will go with SAA to Washington DC and connect flight to Philadelphia airport.
