Does anyone have any information on the latest AP wait times in Manila? Just curious. We're 3 working days since successful interview.

I got an RFE. It was a simple one related to proof the online site I used for meeting my fiance wasn't a marriage broker. They gave me this RFE and never questioned all the copies of documents from overseas. Intent to marry, G325, etc. You remind me of my brother-n-law.

We had the same problem. DFA wouldn't give my fiancé a passport until she got her last name corrected. Her parents split a long time ago and they called her different last names through the years. It did her a disservice and cost me a lot of money and aggravation. After 4.5 months she finally gets a passport with 30 days left before her Visa expires! The good news is that once you get a passport things go quickly after you get a case number assigned.

10days - 2 weeks for Case Number to be issued at NVC. After that you can pay the fees, application, go to medical exam, etc. Interview is usually within 2-4 weeks after Case Number issuance provided she already has a passport. In my case my fiancé didn't have her darn passport and she had a Case number. 3 months after the case number was issued she got her passport. gggrrrrhh.

Originals from the U.S. petitioner, copies from the overseas beneficiary via email. I've done this twice and both K-1s were approved. First relationship didn't work out. They, USCIS, do not expect originals mailed from overseas. They would have to go through customs, take a lot of time, the beneficiary will have to travel to the FEDEX office which would cost money plus money to mail. Much hassle.

G-325A is accepted as a copy from overseas. Original from the U.S. petitioner. That's the way I did it and it worked just fine. In fact, I never submitted any original documents coming from my fiancé, all copies of everything on email.

I'm not certain if it's arrhythmia or what but they won't give her the medical clearance for her interview. We just had to delay the interview 1 week so that she could go to Philippine Heart Center. Bummer. I hope everything is ok.

Fiancé just completed St. Luke's medical exam and was referred to a heart center for further testing on an arrhythmia detection. Interview next week at USEM and heart center testing 2 days before. What will become of this?

Just looking for typical interview questions and required documents at interview. Thanks for sharing. U.S. Embassy Manila interview on May 20th. Just trying to help my fiancé prepare. Perhaps the K-1 Visa package has questions listed etc but I haven't seen that.

My fiancé struggled with getting her passport. She started in December 15'. Now she should finally have it before May 1. After that....interview scheduling and medical. It's been a frustrating process this passport. DFA doesn't cut you any slack either. Hopefully you haven't lost documents in a flood and been called different last names along the way by your parents. Best advice is to book appointment, visit DFA website, print all requirements, compare requirements to what you have, call DFA with questions, get help from a travel agent if you are unsure of anything. And remember that if DFA turns you away at your first appointment you have 30 days after the appointment in which you may walk-in with corrected documents and complete your appointment. They don't volunteer that information as if you're naïve they will merely book you another appointment 5 weeks out. Red Ribbon is a good idea too prior to the appointment if you can get it. DFA handles this I believe.

My question was answer long before you invoked your attempt at leadership!

What's the lead time for an interview appointment when you call the Embassy in Manila for an interview? 30 days? less? more?

I've heard of Visas being put on passports the very day of the interview. Depends on the location I guess

How can the visa be ready without her handing over her passport?
There is no requirement to have a passport prior to scheduling an interview when the Visa package status changes to 'Ready'. There is no requirement to submit her passport during the petition process. You must have a passport to schedule an interview, take a medical exam, pay the application fee, complete the DS-160 form.
-
I think there is a misunderstanding here; if you are referring to the case status when you check online (visa status check), when it says READY it means that they have received the package from NVC and after you have gathered all the required documents you are READY to schedule the interview. You need to find more information on all the documents and forms that you need to file. Your passport will be ready when you have had your interview, passed and your status changes from READY to ISSUED. ISSUED means your visa/passport are ready.
What? She doesn't have a passport at all. And doesn't know how to get one. That's the problem. Ready means ready to schedule an interview. Can't do that until there's a passport number. Can't pay the fee until there's a passport number. You can't interview without a passport. You can't go to a medical without a passport. We're hosed up because of no passport. I guess she now understands that when I ask her to get her passport in December that's really what I meant for her to do.

She's in Quezon area

We experienced flood loss too. Unfortunately she never bothered replacing lost documents and IDs. I think what happened is that she simply went to one of her friends who got a passport 2 yrs ago and got her to help her. She never visited DFA website or called them. I don't think she ever made an appointment either, she just showed up one day and said, Hi, I'm here to apply for my passport. Then of course she was given an appointment date 30 days later. She was a little shocked I think. Then she didn't bring one document she needed to the appointment and this delayed her another month. etc and so on. She'll learn now that she has a visa waiting with an expiration date she better get off her rear end and do this right. Lol

Got our Visa in the 'Ready' status this week at the USEM Manila. Very quick I was surprised! Bless her heart she is having problems getting her passport. First appointment, documents not in order, second appointment, 1 document / ID missing, now she's got a new appointment on April 5th and her Visa is already in the 'Ready' status as of yesterday. I am concerned that she will get her passport at the end of April and her Visa will be close to expiring at her interview time. So frustrating. I think she's starting to learn the importance of being prepared and doing due diligence prior to these appointments. Her mistakes are causing problems now. In the Philippines you need 100s of documents and IDs it seems in order to get anything accomplished. Urgghhh!

Does she need her passport to do all this? Interview and medical? DS-160? Can she do all this stuff in parallel without the passport? The DFA people are being regimented and uncooperative and unless one is completely on top of the game you get pushed to the back of the line. Original DFA appointment Jan 29th. New DFA appointment April 5th! urgggh!

Just got our case number from NVC. This is a K-1 Visa. Is there anything that can be done at this point to make this process go quicker? Can payment be made via BPI for the application fee? Can medical and interview be scheduled? It will obviously take a week or two to arrive in Manila. And that darn DFA agency is giving us a fit about her Passport. We've been trying since January to get a passport. So frustrating!

The CO told that an extra copy of cenomar and b.c. was needed. She submitted 1 copy each. The interview instructions did not state extra copies required. No problem with anything else. CO said everything looks good.
