Well, I was looking forward to my interview tomorrow but I just received a call from an immigration officer at the field office who said that NBC has not shipped my file back and that there will be no interview. They said I will receive a new interview letter in about 30 days. Bummer!

Sorry to hear that...when it rains it seems to pour. Keep your chin up my friend as the end is in sight.

Approved on the spot! Same day oath wasn't possible due to a large number of previous rescheduled appointments to today! Notice will be mailed soon! In and out in about 15 minutes or so! More of a "meet and greet"!

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number NBC*00610XXXX, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Just got home from work and checked my case status. It's getting close.

Just got back from the interview. It was very quick and I thought it went well as my case officer was friendly and professional. I did not receive immediately approval and was told that my decision would come in the mail. We did talk about the oath ceremony taking place in court across the street since I've requested a name change, so hopefully that's a good sign. I've included details for other NYCers that may find it helpful.

I got to the building at 1:30pm for a 1:50pm appointment (must enter on Broadway with appointment letter in hand) and spent about 5 minutes going through security. Checked in on two different floors and was given a number by 1:40pm. Waited in a room of about 75 people for 10 minutes until my number was called by my interview officer (only 2 minutes after my appointment time). Most of the people in the room were there before me so the order is dependent on your specific case officer. Cell phone usage is allowed in the waiting room. Overall the process is a lot less organized than the biometrics appointment.

I was sworn in and then sat down. I was asked for my passport, green card, social security card, and state issued ID. We started first with the language and civics test. I read out loud the sentence "There are 100 senators" and wrote out "Alaska is the largest state." My six civics questions were:

- Name one war fought by the United States in the 1900s.

- Who is the Chief Justice of the United States now?

- The House of Representatives has how many voting members?

- We elect a U.S. Representative for how many years?

- Who is the "Father of Our Country"?

- In what month do we vote for President?

The officer reviewed my application page by page asking me questions on each section. I highly recommend reading over the application before your interview. Once I had recited my application verbally she asked me the yes/no questions. I was asked for my tax forms so I handed over the last 4 years of federal tax transcripts. I was then asked to review some forms and sign them along with the two passport photos I sent in with the application. I received a receipt stating that I had passed the tests and that USCIS will be sending me a written decision about my application.

The one thing that makes me nervous is that at the very end my officer asked why I waited so long to file for citizenship. I had already relaxed by this point thinking the interview was over and said that I liked being a Japanese citizen (so stupid). I then continued to say that before I didn't know whether I would move back to Japan but now that I've decided I would be living in the United States for the rest of my life it made sense to apply. I'm really hoping that this brain fart does not cost me my citizenship.

The interview took 20 minutes and I was out of the building by 2:15pm. Now the waiting game begins again...... hoping for some good news in the near future.

Thank you Eaton Inside! I just received my letter for oath taking today. It is scheduled next week, November 6. I was jumping for joy when I opened my mail today

3 Months to the day...that's awesome!! I can only hope your speedy journey is a sign for all of the August filers to get through this quickly.

Congratulations cutiepie28! I also passed my interview. The IO asked the same exact questions including the sentence about Columbus day. I noticed that the applicants were told to wait for the Oath taking letter schedule. I guess it is printed on the same day here in Durham NC. Since I am changing my name, the IO informed me that my oath taking schedule will be a month later.

Have checked around quite a bit and can't find any info on when during a given month the Fort Smith Office holds their Administrative Oath ceremony....does anyone happen to know?

Best of luck to you !

They have to keep on hold at least some apps, to show they are doing something. Suppose they some day start working efficiently and process all applications on time, with no phony exuces to delay random cases.Guess what will then happen. The head of DHS will be brought to Congress and grilled for two hours by a Rep who will say he is on ISIS payroll.

I lived long enough to know how bureaucracy here works.

Well, I received the e-mail notice that my interview has been scheduled (I received it twice within a minute of each other, for some reason), so now I just need to wait for the letter and, y'know, study! I'd been waiting until I knew the actual date, as I'd just end up studying, losing interest and then forgetting everything otherwise.
