  1. First, I want to say "thank you so much" to all the people/person behind this website. Thru this website I was able to understand the process of getting the CR1/IR1 visa. This site also provided insights based from experience which is great for newbies like me. Again.. Thank you!

    Huling Hirit po!.. :-).

My trip is on Sept 2 via delta and I will have a 5 hour layover at MSP airport before boarding a flight to my final destination which is BDL Connecticut. I hope the 5 hour layover is enough or is this okay?

Congratulations. Will you be able to update your timeline?

  2. 1. Don't include a letter. The passport can be submitted as evidence of citizenship in lieu of a birth certificate.

    3. Why not get both? The more evidence you provide the better.

    5. Send one personal check for the total amount of $1490. Some people send multiple checks thinking that each application is a separate process. It's not, it's all one process. A personal check is better because you can track the payment.

    6. One cover letter is sufficient. Again, many people think that each applications is treated separately. Both the I-485 and I-130 will be processed together.

    7. Don't waist your time with a summary of your relationship, USCIS wants evidence.

Also, print your photos on a 8.5" X 11" piece of paper. You can do two per page or you can enlarge them to cover the entire paper, your choice. They hole punch the top of each paper and they put it in a folder. They can't do that with small 6" X 4" pictures.

To the original poster, I would defer to this post.

  3. Thanks for your answers. Few more things to be clarified please..

1- Including a separate piece of paper to mention what exactly ?

3-Should the account be checking or saving is okay ?

5- I still don't understand the payment method of forms I-130 and I-458, how can this be done in case I want to pay by check ?

6- Regarding the cover letter, should I create cover letter for each form ( and its documents ) Or one cover letter for all the package including everything ?

7- The brief summary of our relationship, should be written by petitioner or beneficiary, which is better ?

    Thanks.

For item 1, now that I think about it, why can't your petitioner get a copy of their birth certificate. See here: https://www.usa.gov/replace-vital-documents#item-36582

For item 3, I don't think it will matter.

For item 5, both can be paid by check. See instruction here for the I-458: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-485instr.pdf

    and for the I-130: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-130instr.pdf

For item 6, a cover letter for each form would be appropriate. It is my understanding that a cover letter is not required.

For item 7, it will probably be better if the petitioners does it.

  4. 1. The US passport should suffice. I recommend including a separate piece of paper to mention.

    2. I would estimate and then include a separate piece of paper explaining not knowing the exact date.

    3. I don't see how that would be suspicious, that is a good, joint account sounds like a bona fide relationship to me. As long as money is in the account then you should be good.

    4. I plan to send photo printed at a 1 hour photo store. I would think paper-printed photo's are ok.

  5. I initially sent them an email to request expedite July 24th, they replied saying that my request was under review on July 28; I called NVC July 31 and they said the embassy had responded they wanted some clarification about the request, and they had emailed me the day before. Up till now and I still haven't received the email, I didn't wait and Saturday Aug 1 I sent them another email clarifying my situation, I guess they look at their emails during the weekend because i had an approval email very early this morning. My reason was that I have a 2 year old daughter who suffers from extreme allergies (life threatening) and i am now pregnant. I have no one to take care of my little one so I am out of a job.

Thanks for sharing, sorry to hear of the medical condition but thankfully there is hope for humanity and they have approved your request.

  6. Hello everybody,

Today I received an email that our request for expedite was accepted and they will forward our case to the Dominican Republic immediately.

What can I expect next? They received our AOS and IV packages on July 27th but i still haven't been invoiced the IV fee. Will I have to gather all the documents again or will NVC forward everything to the embassy? When could i expect an interview date?

    Thanks

I am very happy to hear you expediate request was accepted. If you don't mind sharing, how did you go about request the expedite processing and how long did it take for them to follow up?

  7. What happens when you receive the NOA2? Do they mail you something and you have to fill out more paperwork? Problem being, I'm in Ecuador right now and I was hoping that everything could be done through email or internet, like the DS160 because I won't have access to my mail at home. Any help with the timeline and how things are processed and what we as visa petitioners have to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You petition will be sent to the National Visa Center.

    Check here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

I am not too familiar with the specifics of the K1 visa process but I think the guide should help.

  8. Congratulations

I don't understand why dating soon would be a problem

people meet to date on a blind date

and my late husband of 20 years and i were engages 3 days after we met

would still be married as we were happy if God had not taken him

people can fall in love fast

What you say is true. It is unfortunate that it is assumed that you are trying to evade immigration law if you marry a foreign national.

  9. Hi, CallMEShams! We didn't request for our case to be expedited. We were one of the lucky ones and got a really fast approval. (L) I do wish it happens for everyone too. It took almost a month for our case number to be assigned. This whole waiting process is not easy but there's nothing we can do now but wait. You'll get your case number soon :) Good luck!

I am very happy for you. I can only imagine how happy you were upon getting your I-130 approved lol.

It looks like we are not too far behind your progress. Hoping for things to continue to go smoothly and move along.

  10. Case Complete July 27 2015, after 16 business days of submitting all the documents needed.

Email confirmation, all documentation necessary to complete the national visa center's processing of your case has been received .

Good luck to all those who waiting on CC !!!!!!!!!

Wow, that sounds rapid to me. I take it faster than expected.

Did you have to send in the welcome letter the NVC center sent you?

  11. Ours took almost a month from NOA2 until we got our case number. :(USCIS sent our case to NVC a week after NOA2 that's why it took longer. Keep checking your case status online or your email as they will notify you when they've send your case to the DOS.

I think the average time is 1 week for NVC to receive the case and 2 weeks to assign a case number.

Your I-130 was approved very quickly, were you awarded an expedite request?

The service center sent our case to the NVC much later than expected. I take it they send it would when they feel like and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it right?

  12. Case was received 7/28 @ nvc. Just wondering when I'll get my case number or what's the next step.

12 days from when your case number was assigned.

Thank you for your quick response, mi_u_ls!

I can see from your signature that it took 17 days for NVC to get your case since NOA2 date.. that is a bit shocking to me!

Is a MONTH about the average delay for folks waiting to get their case #?

Based on what I understand, it would be close to 12 days.

  13. Initially my fiancé took his photos to the fingerprint place in Montego bay but did not have his passport and failed to tell them it was for immigration purposes. So he had to go back a second time show his passport and tell them its for immigration purposes plus pay a second fee for expedited service (7days) he will pick it up next week. not sure why they are telling you they will mail it. No common or process that is set there. good luck.

Thanks for the update. Crazy what people will tell you at times.

  14. At every turn we seem to have a challenge. First with the RFE of how we met. then in AP at the NVC... getting the documents together in Jamaica was a nightmare and finally again at the medical.. the clinic filled out the immunization records wrong for my fiancés son so he couldn't get his shots... now he has to drive out there again 4 hours there to show the correct immunization record 2 days before the interview!! he spent 6 hours at Andrews getting Xrays blood draws shots etc between him and his son.. even he who is normally a very patient and understanding man stand he knows something good has to come from all of this he went through yesterday! when does it end? Is it only Jamaica that has these complicated processes from the passport police cert and non impediment a challenge paying twice for some services paying extra to expedite. Oh I have been on my knees a few times asking God to give me strength and MORE MONEY LOL. in any case I am hoping and praying that in 2 weeks all this will not have been done in vain!! Pray with me VJ family I need it.

Sorry to hear of your experience. I can only imagine how it feels like a compound issue, like what else to obstruct progress.

What hassle did you have with the police certificate? We tried to get one in advance of the interview and the police said they would have to mail it to the Embassy. How did you guys get the police certificate in Jamaica?

  15. Just FYI, a marriage certificate is not proof of a bona fida relationship, it's proof of you actually being married. :)

For proof of bona fida, the majority sends chat/email logs, phone records, photos of time spent together and with family, passport stamps or boarding passes to show visits to see each other etc.

It's always good to put quality proof of bona fida evidence straight with your I-130 petition. You don't seem to have added that much proof with your petition and even though it was approved, I would still add some more proof to NVC, just to be on the safe side.

You might wanna ask for specifics in the Jamaican forum because some embassies want more bona fida proof at the time of interview and other embassies, such as the one in Sweden, usually don't look at evidence brought to the interview.

Thanks for the response. As you rightly said, the marriage certificate is not proof of a bona fide relationship.

Curios to know if anyone has added such type of information in the documents they sent to the NVC.

Good idea, I will check inthe Jamaican forum.
