  1. For me (i was the petitioner) showed the DAO Officer my passport and drivers license for ID purposes. Same goes for My Wife (who was the one getting sponsored) - it was her form of ID. However, she had her passport stamped with I-551 stamp after being approved. I don't think the DAO would stamp and expired passport - so I would suggest getting it renewed somehow.

Yeah.... those fees really kill you!

Our interviewer wanted us to show him our original passports, birth certificates, marriage contract, drivers license.... he gave them all back to us. However, to be prepared just in case if he wanted to keep something for his records, I made sure i had a photocopy of each document. ]

re the USC needing to provide a passport, does it matter if it is expired? I assume it is for ID purposes. Just realized that my H's is expired, sigh ...another fee to take care of???

    cheers!

oops, you misunderstood me...my passport is fine, I am the beneficiary, I meant if my husband's (the USC's) passport is expired, does it matter if he is only using it for ID purposes..

    sorry for the confusion.

  3. great info!

I would love to know your thoughts on the whole " affidavit of support" process, particularly in regards to the I-864. It states " you MUST supply (this ....and this) ......and " you MAY supply (this or that) yet people always seem to being RFE'd when they have supplied everything, or what was particularly asked for. Some have resubmitted exactly what they sent the first time and then been okayed.

If a petition shows that it meets the poverty level at the time of filing with evidence ,what initiates RFE's requesting further evidence, requests for co-sponsers etc??

Thanks in advance for helping a lot of confused souls :)

Try 8 CFR Sec.213.2 If it doesn't answer your questions PM me. k?

Ill definitely look that up, thanks

  5. yup!

my favourite episode of animal rescue was the one where they went to a house that was breeding fight dogs. There was a Pit tied to a tree for ever that alerted the neighbours. They found a puppy in the freezer that was still alive, it was used to bait the bigger dogs.. Anyway the cops rescued it and trained it to be a drug detector. It grew up to bust loads of people. :)

    edited to spell 'puppy" correctly!

  6. Thank god those kiddies, lived..

Unfortunate for the dogs too, they can be good dogs with the correct upbringing and training, the problem is the mof******ers who are attracted to this breed. Ive read the disgusting treatment they receive as puppies to make them aggressive.

They need to have licenses for this breed, so its known immediately who owns it, ( good for cracking down on fight clubs too) and impose STAGGERING fines and jail terms when they are loose or godforbid do damage.

  7. did you buy your airline ticket with a credit card??? Is there a statement to prove it????? Any personal purchases while you were there?

I used one itinerary from travelocity, because at the time, I never knew I was going to need a boarding pass! BUT what I did find and include was the luggage tags still stuck on my suitcases! (Yup Im too lazy to rip them off before a new one goes on).

Were you still receiving emails from friends and family while you were there asking how your holiday was going? Did you write them back and tell them.??..I found a MINE of information when I realized there were other emails in the world besides His and Mine :) ...Mine to other people talking about him, them writing and saying to pass on a hi or love or whatever...

Obviously, photocopies of your entry/exit stamps in your passport are good evidence.

  8. I've entered the USA on VWP a few times, and never once was I asked any probing questions about my visit. I believe it would be possible to get past CBP with immigration intent, and not lie to a CBP officier. A good officer would catch you, but honestly when 500 people show up on a Jumbo from the UK, they don't usually care about their reasons for visiting.

The point I was trying to make, is that everyone on here says: Yes you can come in to the USA on VWP, but if you intended to remain you're going to get into trouble with USCIS. This is the conventional wisdom here. Can someone quote me anything in the legal statutes that actually state that USCIS officers can use the reason of "intent" on a VWP as denial of AOS, or any cases where this has happened to anyone?

Quoting visa statutes don't help because as the INA states, almost all visa violations are forgiven by being married to a USC, including entering on VWP.

    Food for thought,

I did four VWP trips over 2 years for 90 days at a time... The first time was easy, was travelling with an american gf on the holiday where I met my now husband. I came back, easy again....the third time , a bit more in depth and the fourth, well I was taken to the room and grilled.

Now, I had my own business which was why I could travel as much as I wanted and spare the time, but that really freaked them out every time. My " ties " weren't that strong as I was not living in my home country anyway. As it was xmas eve, he said he'd let me in this last time, but I shouldn't come back again for at least a year. And, that if I did there would be a record of my " interview" I told him we were filing for K1, he said fine , you'll be welcome then but dont come back without it!

Had I said to heck with it, stayed and married etc. then tried AOS would the record of his " notes" appeared at any of the process???? My point is about the "intent to immigrate", no-one can know what an officer at some point tapped in to that little screen...( assuming there had been previous visits to the states) Could it be used??? In my hypothetical scenario I would have been done for!

  9. Well it was a good day, BUT my mom fell on the way in to be seated had to be taken in the EMS to the Hospital with a Broken Hip after just getting out of the hospital a few weeks before from a double knee replacment and a hip replacment.......So it was a good day but very emotional not alot of smiles from being upset from me mum. :crying:

sigh, I spoke too soon :o

hope your mum gets better soon....

Anyone get Garden City for biometrics or interviews??, Im waiting on my biometrics appointment and wondering where Ill go??

    any clues NYers?????

  11. I read this Press Release, and the US Embassy in Cambodia is currently processing immigrant VISAs? Does this mean that I can file the I-130 form there, and have it processed immediately? Please, if anyone can verify this it will be great. If not, I will have to wait until their office is opened to find out.

I think that this refers to the fact that you can now have your petition processed and your interview in Cambodia. Until now, there was a " cambodian" section within the BKK US consulate. Due to the high threat/ bribe scenarios, Cambodians all had to process in Thailand. Although Im Australian I was living in Cambodia when I went through this process and was hoping to go through it there rather than go back to Oz. That was when I found out that even locals couldn't use the PP embassy. AS for DCF Im not sure....

There was another poster going through Cambodia, I think it was " appleegg" try his personal email, although he probably went through Thailand by now, he may be more up to date in the process.

  12. found it , it was "neonred" (congrats neonred, BTW  )

"We had our AOS interview this morning in Miami and all went well. We were a little nervous as we were unable to get the I-693a in time before the interview. All civil surgeons in our town would only transfer the information if we did a $300 medical exam that we did not need. We could get it done by the civil surgeon at the local public health facility for $25 but they were so busy they could not see us for over three weeks and we only received our appointment letter three weeks go. Fortunately my wife had all her vaccinations completed at her medical exam in Moscow which was reflected on her DS-3025. I had submitted this with the AOS package and had not received an RFE about it.

I did see the DS-3025 that I submitted in the file and he looked at it and the medical and confirmed that everything was in order. What a relief."

  13. We sent in our RFE reply last Monday, and CSC registered having received it last Friday. This morning, they're touching our case!

I'm very nervous about all this, and I'm hoping we got good advice from the USCIS officer in San Antonio. Strictly speaking, on her advice, we didn't send in everything they asked for.

We could really use your prayers and benevolent thoughts (your choice :)) as we wait for the resolution of our case. I doubt I'll sleep particularly well until then.

    Thanks, all!

good luck!, I hope you mentioned that you followed the advice of the officer with name and date etc...

by the way, did you notice that one couple had their successful AOS interview, complete with DS-3025 in hand ?!

    go figure

  14. Long Island girl here! Love it in the summer! freezing here now!Hate the winter! I live in suffolk county. Born and raised here. Expensive to live though. Eventually want to move where it is "summer all the time" if it was like that here, I would consider staying! ++++++++look out! INSANE DRIVERS!

I guess we've been lucky this winter, other than this week's ice storm... but... I've had it! My fiance and I plan on moving to Virginia in the future and I've started considering the idea of us doing that before next winter.

Hey from another long islander

Where on the island are you?

Amityville. Yeah I know we've been fairly lucky, Ive been here for 2 other winters, BUT I was living in the tropics before I came here, so Im not sure Ill ever get used to it!

  15. I cant find out how much is fee for AOS?

From USCIS homepage it says that travel form i-131 its 170 $ and for work i-765 form its 180$, but for i-485 it shows in one place n/a in other 1000$ and 325???

    Thanks!

your I-485 is $325 with which you include the $70 biometrics fee..so $395. The $1000 that you saw is the price it will become when all the fees go up later in the year, I think July?

    yes I 765 is $180

  16. Hmmm, I don't think I've seen any Vegemite around, I think I may have seen in one time, can't remember where though, any websites you can get it from? but I know they ain't cheap.

guess its time to hit on the family for a care package!. Vegemite comes now in soft plastic travel tubes..

I saw Marmite in the Virgin mega store in Times SQ, a year back, they have a Brit food section. It was over $7 a jar!
