  1. Hello all, thank you in advance for your help. Back in 2015 I submitted I-130 for my brother to eventually move him to US. I-130 was approved last year and the case was moved to NVC. We got instructions from NVC to login to https://ceac.state.gov/IV. Instructions state "If you do not log into CEAC or communicate with NVC regarding this immigration visa case for a period of one year, by law the Department of State must terminate your visa application." I logged in as a petitioner a few times, there are buttons there for IV FEE and IV Application, but they don't work. They're not clickable. The year almost went by now since the petition got approved and I don't want it to be terminated, but I don't know what am I supposed to do to advance our case? Do we just wait whatever the long wait 10+ years until there is an immigrant visa number available for my brother and then these buttons will be activated to pay the fee and submit documents then? Or is it something that we need to do now ASAP? Does my brother need to log in to pay the fees himself as an applicant, since it won't let me do so as a petitioner for him? Please somebody who is familiar with this explain this to me.

  2. Updating me in the list :D My naturalization ceremony was scheduled for the end of the month :D

  3. Make an infopass appointment first and ask them what they advise you to do. I was in a similar situation as your wife, my green card was stolen a few days before I was going to apply for citizenship, but I still had some photo copies of my green card front and back. I had an infopass appointment and an immigration officer there stamped my passport with a permanent resident stamp and I didn't have to apply for a green card replacement. At my citizenship interview they gave me a form to fill out (for free) stating my green card was stolen and told me to take that form to my naturalization ceremony since I don't have a green card to bring with me. Make an infopass appointment and maybe you won't have to spend money on a replacement green card if your wife is going to apply for citizenship instead, since citizenship applications go through so fast right now. If you don't have any copies of the green card (which is required for the citizenship application) maybe you will be able to send in a photo copy of the passport stamp instead.

  4. My first AOS application was denied too (they couldn't find my medical exam papers), I had to reapply. I refilled the AOS application and had to pay the fees again, but it went through ok the second time around and I had no problems. I considered Motion To Reopen, but at the time (about 6 years ago...) was adviced it will be easier and faster processing if I would just submit another AOS application. I'm not sure what would be faster nowadays. Make an infopass appointment and see what they advice for you to do. I was very upset when it happened and scared, but it wasn't the end of the world and everything turned out ok. Don't panic, wait for the letter which will state the reasons for denial, and go for an infopass appointment as soon as you can for an advice on how to proceed.

  5. I have my citizenship application ready and I was planning to mail it tomorrow. Today my purse got stolen with my green card in it. Doh... I filed a police report. I already have photo copies of the green card to send in with my application. Is it necessary to fill out I-90 form to get a green card replacement, considering I will become a citizen in a few months? Citizenship fee is already so much $$$ for me, and now to add $450 to that, seems horrible... I also saw people reporting it takes about 6 months or more to get a green card replacement, so I may even already be a citizen by then... Are there any other people here that it happened to? And how did you deal with it? Any advice?

  6. Hi people, I am about to apply for a US citizenship, and I am wondering what is going to happen with my original Israeli citizenship? How does this whole procedure work? If I want to keep my Israeli citizenship, do I have to declare it somewhere? Or if I don't want to have any other citizenships except for the US one, how do I go about that? Would I have to contact Israeli embassy here and request my citizenship to be terminated, or do the USCIS automatically do that for me after I am granted the US citizenship? Just curious how this whole thing works and trying to decide whether having a dual citizenship is worth the hassle of it...

  7. Congrats!

Do you mind listing the contents of your 751 application to help those in the future?

    Thanks!

Here's what I sent as evidence:

    # pictures of us over a few years period (about 20 pictures, maybe that was an overkill  )

    # rental agreements signed by me and my husband for all the places were we lived since we got married

    # a letter from my in-laws stating that we lived in their house with them for a few months period

    # letters envelopes addressed to me and my husband

    # copies of mine and my husbands pay stubs (they show we have the same address)

    # our joint tax returns for 2005, 2006, 2007

    # all kinds of financial papers for our house that we bought together, a warranty deed, title insurance, our joint application for mortgage, etc

    # bank statements from few different months throughout the last few years that show we both own the account

    # husband's life insurance that lists me as a beneficiary

    # papers from different car insurance companies that we used, lists our both names on insurance

    # bills in both our names (actually we could only find one bill)

    # 2 notarized letters from witnesses about our relationship

    # copies of our tickets from our vacation in Israel and some printouts of our itinerary from our email, also copies of stamped passport pages.

    :D

  8. I just looked on line at USCIS to see if there had been any activity on my husband's AOS case. I noticed that yesterday his EAD was touched......yet that was approved back on May 2 and he's already been working now for several weeks. The last touch on the AOS pw was on July 3. Why do you think they'd touch the pw already approved like that?

My EAD was touched the same way a while after it was approved and I had the card already, the same day that it was touched an AOS interview appointment was sent out to me. I think there's a connection. So maybe you're going to get some news on your AOS case soon! :)

  9. My AOS was denied too and I had same question for the immigration officer on my infopass appointment and also I asked an immigration lawyer about this later. They both had the same answer, that EAD was revoked/cancelled and that's it. If you want a new one you will have to apply for a new EAD after the motion to reopen was granted, you can't use the revoked card.

  10. We just received another letter for AOS appointment on Tuesday, August 15th.

The letter we received last week is for Wednesday, August 9th.

    What do we do?

Same thing happened to me. I went for the first interview and brought the other interview appointment letter with me too, I showed it to the lady interviewing us and she said it's a mistake and she will take care of it. She cancelled the second interview and signed her name of the second appointment letter and wrote that it's cancelled, so in case if we have any troubles for not coming to the second interview we can show that signed letter and sort things out.

  11. Has anyone had any experience, or willing to guess, when it is better to move?

I realize that no matter when I move I will have to file an AR-11, and once I submit the I-864 I will have to submit an I-865. I'm just wondering how hard it is, or how much time would be lost if the case has to transferred from one subdivision office to another?

I also want to avoid going "out of status", but if it would be better to wait and submit my AOS package until AFTER I moved, with just a little out of status time, I would hold off until after moving.

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

    :help:

I think it's better to apply after you move, because then it'll eliminate the confusion with the different addresses. If you put your new address on the AOS application that will be the only address that they will have in their system and they will send all your mail there. I heard many scary stories about how people changed their address and tried to update it with the uscis and it didn't always work out all smooth and nice...

  12. My first AOS case was denied for a technical reason (not all the requested documents were submitted), it was transferred to CSC and then denied without an interview. Shortly after I reapplied for AOS again (in february this year), and a few months later I got an interview date for 23rd june. I had this interview today. The interview went good, took about 30 minutes, and the lady who was interviewing me and my husband was very nice and polite. She looked at all the evidence we brought and asked some basic questions like how did we meet, if we have children, and if any of my family from Israel came to our wedding. Also asked yes/no questions about terrorism, prostitution and drugs, which was kinda funny :P Then she said we're approved and I should get my GC in the mail within the next 2-3 weeks :D

My previous AOS denial didn't complicate anything and didn't have any effect on the decision made about the 2nd AOS case. I'm glad it's all over with. I wish I could have been approved the first time I applied, but sh#t happens. I think it's important for me to share my experience in case if there are any people here who are going through a similar situation, I hope my story will give them hope and relief some of their stress. I wish you all good luck on your journeys! :)

  13. I wish everyone else lots of luck on their visa journeys - and particularly good luck to Anastacia who I know has her interview in Phoenix on Friday and Molly and Stephen or have their interview in Phoenix in July. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm glad you had a good experience at your interview :D Congratulations!

I have my interview today at 1:15pm in Phoenix, thanks for wishing me luck :D
