  1. Hello VJ members, If I remember well, at some point of filling out the forms and everything for the petition of my mom I checked a box (somewhere) in which you could opt to have the applicant's SSN processed after becoming a resident, am I right? Are they doing that now? She had her interview and was approved a couple of weeks ago and I don't know if we should expect her SS card to come in the mail or if I should take her to the Social Security Administration office. I appreciate any guidance on this. 🙏
  2. Yes it has an easy-cut line on it. I'm actually thinking that if one wasn't supposed to open it, would they tell you at the end of the interview? But, they didn't mention it, so...
  3. Hey there, thanks!! 🙏 Well we just got one of those yellow cardboard envelopes, it feels really thin and light, seems like only her passport is in it. But, we haven't opened it yet so... I don't know, I feel like taking it as it is to the point of entry.
  4. Hi VJ members, My mom had her consular interview last Monday and she was approved 🙌 🎉 We just got the envelope that was delivered to a local DHL but we were never told if we should open it or not. Back in 2016 when I became a resident I was told to take it as it was straight to the Immigration office at any international bridge and they would open it there and stamp my passport, I don't know if that remains the same or not. Would appreciate your guidance on this 🙏
  5. Luckily she wasn't requested to provide any other taxes besides the ones I had already sent to the NVC and she was approved ☺️
  6. Hello again, so, I'm not giving my mom our 2022 tax return since we haven't filed it yet, being the one from 2021 the most recent we have, would you say it is coherent to give her a bank statement to show/prove solvency? If so, according to the Affidavit Of Support we must make at least $34,687 in order to sponsor her, there's roughly 20k in the bank so I don't know 😐
  7. Hello there 👋, I'm finally gathering all the necessary documents for my mom's interview next week, I am using this website as my guide: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/CDJ-Ciudad-Juarez.html#pre_interview_checklist But then there's this Facebook group that offers help on this matter and there's a bunch of different opinions, different people saying opposite things and now I'm all freaked out, e.g. just today a lady told me I needed to take 3 months of paystubs from the sponsor, (that's me), but I'm an independent worker, I don't have paystubs, plus the aforementioned website doesn't mention that, it only says to take the sponsor's most recent tax transcript. 😐 So now I'm all confused (and a lil panicked to be honest), I could really use a tranquilizer, so I wanted to ask here, am I ok by taking the aforementioned website as my only guide? As the petitioner and sponsor I'm giving my mom: The appointment's letter Her unexpired passport (and a photocopy) 2 recent photographs Her criminal background letter (just obtained) The DS-260 confirmation page The civil docs (birth certificate, divorce certificate, etc. even with translations) 3 years of my tax returns A photocopy of my US passport (petitioner) And of course we still need the medical examination results. Am I missing something? I would appreciate any help you can provide 🙏
  8. They don't issue them anymore? In 2017 when I became a resident my wife got a physical letter (like the one attached) which she handed to me and that's what I showed in my interview and medical appointment. Anyways, I'll print the email. 😊 Thank you
  9. Hi VJ members, Well, as the title says, I got my mother's appointment email a couple weeks ago, I don't know if USPS delivered the physical letter somewhere else (they did that with my passport a year ago), and since the letter must be taken to the medical exam and interview I'm wondering, what if it never gets delivered? Should I print the email? Hoping somebody knows. And thanks in advance 👋
  10. Got it 👍 will make sure to have it done 2 days before the interview, question, you're supposed to pay the cost of the green card issuance only after the interview has gone well and everything, right?
  11. Dear VJ members, So excited and nervous that my mother's interview was finally scheduled, it's been 2 long years. I just went ahead and registered her appointment online as well as the biometrics. I wanted to ask here, are there any other fees and/or payments that must be submitted before the interview other than the 2 shown below? Thanks in advance for your help. 👋
  12. Hello there, I'm waiting on an interview at Juarez too, did they finally schedule yours? I wanted to ask you if you know how long they're taking, my case became Documentarily Qualified a year ago but still haven't heard anything about the interview.
  13. Boiler & SussieQQQ thanks a lot for your help, one last question, when attempting to check my mom's case online at https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do I get an error saying: Error: The application receipt number entered is invalid. Please check your receipt number and try again. Honestly that's terrifying me, I'm like, is there something wrong with the case? Or is it because the case is still at the NVC and not at the embassy?
  14. Hi SussieQQQ, thanks a lot, your explanation brought a lot of light, but also, more concerns, see, our DQ date is October 2021, a year ago, would you say that's normal? Do you know if embassies have bulletins to see which cases they are scheduling?
  15. Hi Boiler, so, it's just a matter of waiting on the consulate? It's cause, my mom's priority date is Jan 2021, it's going to be 2 years. I contacted the NVC back in June and they got back to me saying: "Your application is now waiting for an interview appointment". I don't know if consulates also have bulletins to see which cases they are shceduling.
  16. Hi VJ members, I'm trying to read this month's table of the Visa Bulletin, but, I can't find which category does parents of US Citizens belong to, according to the NVC's website my mom's case is eligible for an IR5 Visa, Would appreciate any help with this: FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES First: (F1) Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: 23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference. Second: Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents: 114,200, plus the number (if any) by which the worldwide family preference level exceeds 226,000, plus any unused first preference numbers: A. (F2A) Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents: 77% of the overall second preference limitation, of which 75% are exempt from the per-country limit; B. (F2B) Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents: 23% of the overall second preference limitation. Third: (F3) Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens: 23,400, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences. Fourth: (F4) Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens: 65,000, plus any numbers not required by first three preferences.
