Hey wrestling, best of luck to you and yours. Could to also update this thread or start a new one about your experience? My fiancé is also Ukrainian, we are still at the first steps of the process.

I called NVC a week after my case was approved, its impossible to get through, so I called at 6:58 AM and was able to speak to someone that gave me the CASE # and INVOICE # I then sent packet 3 to the embassy email where I put all pertinent information and applied for the 260...a few days later I was able to register to pay and make appointment but waited a few weeks until appointments were available. My advice is to call to get your case and invoice and be proactive with embassy but do not send more than one email, so get it right the first time.

I do not know what country you speak of, but for us, we waited 2 weeks, then put the telephone on "speed dial" and spent many hours getting to talk to them.
Finally we got through, and got her case number and all specifics. was told the file was sent to embassy that day.

Contact the embassy there. Ask if they have received it.
In Romania, they received it before the status was updated and they immediately notified my fiancee.
NVC customer service is also available by phone M-F during normal hours. You do have to call sometimes 10-15 times in a row to be placed on hold and not be told you have too long of a que to be put on hold.
In our case the status in NVC took less than 10 days.
Email is not the way to contact NVC. I sent an email in May, Visa was approved end of June, they recently got back to me last week saying NVC has processed the package and I now need to follow up with the embassy.
