  1. If God forbid your marriage did not work out and you ended up in divorce, would you consider doing this process for a second time?

    I did it once before.

But, not at the tune of divorce.

I Asked the lady to go back to Colombia, within the 90 days, without ever getting married.

If this one fell through the seems,.... heck, yeah! I'd go for a third time.

Probably, it's just due to my particular persuasion towards girls from this part of the world.

  2. Thanks to all for the good wishes.

I'm expecting now, no glitches, and she should be coming north by the end of March.

THAT will be here before you can say "BOO!"

Anyway, ... I don't know why this thread was moved.

My other intent was to make it known that the Fed's do get some work done over the holidays, as opposed to what we read here sometimes.

My situation, I thought, was QUITE TIMELY, in regards to the RFE.

LESS THAN A MONTH (25 DAYS?), from time I received the RFE, I respond back, they received, and made a decision (approval.)

  3. I'm sitting quietly, dressing in the locker room last night after a gratifying workout, and my phone goes off with that lil mystical tone beckoning me with a text message, to GO CHECK YOUR CASE STATUS AT THE USCIS.GOV, because of some timely update....

...... just in time for a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

"Your Current Case Status for Form I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E):

    Post Decision Activity

On December 30, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have APPROVED this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)"

    . :thumbs::dance::wow:(F)(L)

Talk about a Happy Webcam session, thereafter ... con mi colombianita!

    ____________

So, that was just 11 days after uscis received my response to an RFE on the 19th.

So, that puts to rest the notion that the GOOD WORKERS AT THE USCIS DON'T GET ####### DONE OVER THE HOLIDAYS!

    ------------

    Dan! You must be next!

  4. Why do you seem so happy about it? You find joy in others not being happy?

Sounds like you need to look into your soul and find something that isn't shallow and empty.

    DB

GBwiseguy.... STARTING WITH the good people at the USCIS,... and likely in most other peoples' opinions, it's a stretch, but most practically speaking, filled-with-folly, speaking of someone you've never met, as your fiancee.

You asked someone to marry you, and you've never been with that person, in person?

    Very interesting.

And, I wish you the best!

I was very simply commenting on the 'swimming up-stream' hypothetical (or real, in your case) situation that you proposed and asked if they presented any problems.

Have a good day, Wisguy. AND I WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    ___________

too many people here,... taking themselves way, way too seriously.... speaking of that shallowness/emptiness.

  5. Hi, thanks for the site. I was getting overwhelmed by all the information out on the web and this site has been helpful in calming things down.

    I have 3 questions:

    1. I have not yet met my fiance, we met through a friend (its her cousin and the friend lives in America). I do plan on going to visit her this summer (May 2012). On the application, will it be an issue if we haven't met but plan to this summer?

    2. I am a full-time student, eligible for financial aid, will this be an issue for me or for her in the interview process?

    3. the fee is $340, is that correct?, If I submit the application with a fee waiver form/financial hardship (not sure the name) will that negatively impact my chances of getting approved?

Some other information that may or may not be helpful, her mom is currently in the United States and she (my fiance) has applied for an immigration visa in her native country (Vietnam). She did this before we met.

Thanks for all your help in swimming the sea of red tape.

Wish I could give better news, but it sounds to me like .... THREE STRIKES; YOU'RE OUT!

  6. I've set my wedding date on 5/5/2012 around April this year. Things happened, I had to come back to Korea. Now bcuz K1 seems unlikely to be approved by next May, I've made a decision to move the wedding. It's a big wedding and invitations are all sent a while ago. It's almost insane for me to move the date...

If I move now, obviously it has to be the last time. I can't change the date again.

I've calculated an estimated date of my K1 approval based on the timeline and trend section on this website. If nothing happens, I should get it by June 2, 2012.

But I'm super worried about RFE or blue slip at the consulate. It seems like U.S consulate in Korea is very cool and it only takes about a week to re-submit the requested document and get K1. But I'm sure RFE before NOA2 would take a lot longer than that...

When we filed the petition we did exactly what it says on this website: K-1 guideline.

But who know, we might still get RFE.

So, my question is, with a possibility of getting RFE, would new date July 7, 2012 be fine as a new wedding date? What's your opinion?

How long does it take to resolve RFE? And when do they usually send RFE? It's been 2months for me. Would I have received it already if it was going to happen to me? or can it happen much later like after 4months of NOA1?

I can't change it to later in summer bcuz of extremely hot and humid weather in the city I'm getting married.

I think you'd be cutting it pretty darn close.

If you're a gambling man, then go for it.

But,.. I don't think you want to be adding any anxiety to an already charged situation, as this process is.

If you're real confident in your application being without problems, I'd think if you put your wedding date out to about September,... I'd be alot more confident you are not going to have to R/S, then.

  7. We got notice of our RFE on 12/5/11 and we fixed it immediately. I wondered if anyone else who had a RFE around this time period has heard back, yet? I just wondered if there was any idea of how long before we would hear anything? Just glad to hear they have touched our case!!! :star: :star: :star:

    ________

I hate that phrase, "touched our case"!

Sounds like we/you should FEEL SOMETHING.... SOMETHING GOOD!

All the damn RFE did was set me/us back by about 30 to possibly 80 days... OR MORE!

    Hijueputas de VCS! :whistle::help::rofl::innocent:

  8. We got notice of our RFE on 12/5/11 and we fixed it immediately. I wondered if anyone else who had a RFE around this time period has heard back, yet? _________

What do you mean: "fixed it immediately"?

    ________

I got one RFE on Dec 3.

They received my response on Dec 19.

    Haven't heard nothing back.

Don't expect to this time of year, anytime soon.

    They said 'within 60 days'.

I think that is the longest.

I Expect to hear something by January 15.

    Why?

    No reason.

    Just my expectations.

    Will they comply?

    Probably not.

    Las Hijueputas.

  9. I think it must be true, in general, that certain countries are faster than others.

I remember the other time I did this, 2007/2008, an older experienced guy who regular helped people with processing visa apps for colombians said that Dominican Republic was much faster, maybe just a couple of months.

The USA has pretty good ties to the D.R.

Gotta keep the Major League filled with prospects ;-)

  10. No, Jose Garcia... I think they are still working (although it could simply be their computers are still working, .. ).

I received a text message & email late this afternoon, Dec 22, saying they received my response to their RFE of Dec 5, on the 19th of Dec.

Which (might) mean that the RFE set us back exactly 2 weeks.

And, since I received the NOA1 on July 27,... prior to your Aug 9,... 13 days difference.... then I'm betting ... yep! maybe you will be the first NOA2 of the New Year, and then I'll (we'll) be right there after, the next day.

    Fun to watch!

  11. OP asks:

"QUESTION: Does USCIS ALSO send text message/email upon receipt of a response to an RFE?"

Answer: I just did receive a text message from the USCIS, saying that my case is now UPDATED, Check My Case Status at uscis.gov.

The website simply says they received my response to the RFE on December 19th.

So, for some of you, like me, always wondering about the LAG TIMES at the USCIS, ... they actually RECEIVED the response in the mail, on December 16th (unless, of course, the post guy at the local post office told me wrongly a few days ago, when I went there to check/have him track my Certified Mail ticket no.),.......

...... and just a few moments ago, today being the 22nd, they text me and post on their website that they received the response on the 19th.

(Of course! I nearly pissed in my pants, upon seeing the text message from the USCIS, thinking that possibly ALREADY, they had REVIEWED the response evidence and GRANTED APPROVAL.. )

  12. That's some good feedback here, from those who have been before you.

When do you have to go?

    Keep doing your research.

I remember, I schooled myself for NINE MONTHS before finally feeling within myself that I would be/feel secure, going to Colombia about 6 years ago. Been there about 12 times. Never a problem. Always a grand time!

Of course, ... things have been improving in Colombia, while deteriorating in (some parts) of Mexico.

  13. No harm meant! LaUnica.

and, I obviously don't mind admitting my own short-comings,.. by way of my post.

I think it helps, when we maintain the ability to laugh at ourselves  , not take yourself too damn seriously

Nothing wrong with a lil self-demeaning humour, when I (you?) make a mistake.

Just ask Dan,.. mi negrito! :D

  14. The only way they send you a text message is if you include the notification page with what you sent. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-1145.pdf you would fill this out and attach it to the top of your pages. in this case then you will get a text/email message. if you did not include this, you wont get a text message.

    Jen

    Thanks Jen.

    Sounds like some clarification.

I sent one of those forms upon initial application and was thinking they would send text/email with every touch, then.

    NOT! Okay.

  15. "It looks like the delays by USCIS can very easily mean that we lose out and have to start over again. I have no problem being patient for 6 months, 9 months, one year, but if we have to start this again, that is too frustrating."

Ever read Love in the Time of Cholera?

    FIFTY YEARS! :help:

I DID check plane fares 'goin south' last week and found a reasonably priced fare of $931 for Christmas Day!

    Tempting!

    Hang in there, EMinTex.

This is a good support community,... in the mean time.

    Feliz Navidad!
