My husband has both a New Zealand and South African passport. So he’ll be fine to travel without the oath ceremony.

HOWEVER, you can pay for expedited passport services. I just don’t know how quickly people receive their naturalization certificate. Does it come in the mail or do you get it the day of the oath ceremony?

you get it at your oath.

My interview is on Oct 24th. Do you guys think there is a chance they might be able to squeeze me in for the oath on Oct 31st? I don’t want to wait too long :/.. I am planning to go to Paris for my bday

Honestly no, they'll put you on the next one.

Yup then Plano convention center, it’s just really bugging me the oath ceremony letter has been addressed to my birth name, I’ve not used that name in 25+ years and it’s never been brought up until I attended my interview and he told me he wanted me to have a more official document so he approved me under my birth name and made me sign a name change that he said would be all approved by my oath ceremony, I’m hoping the naturalization certificate shows my ‘changed’ name (The name on my passport and green card)

Wouldn't worry, I was asked if I wanted to change my name also and I don't even have another name. I joked and said I can think of a few cools names. Interviewer said well if I wanted to now is the time. They will probably adjust it for you.

Just got my Oath ceremony date, October 31st at 7:30AM. The letter is still using my birth name which is concerning but I think he said when I attend the actual ceremony the name will be changed... super annoying since I’ve gone under my mother’s maiden name all my life since the age of a few months old and the entire process was done under my name but now when I’m on the last step he decides he wants me to get a different document to indicate my name change that happened 25+ years ago

Is it in Plano? There are 1000 people that day so I guess they spread it out over the whole day.

I wonder if I’ll be taking it at the same time, I’m waiting on my date to show in my documents tab

Probably will be as you had your interview before me, the officer said the earliest other than doing it the same day was on 10/3, they did a lot of same day ceremonies but its in the waiting area in front of the flag and I would like the actual ceremony more.

    Just curious.

Cancer is considered a disability on all employment surveys do you, having USCIS tell you you're not eligible for cancer is absolutely crazy and stupid. Not to say the least they are not going to test for cancer on a medical unless you ask for blood tests with then can only pick up on low/high T cell or white blood cell activity giving reason for further tests to possible cancer,. The only way to diagnose cancer fully is through a PET CT scan.

  6. If they are true officers then isn't it kind of good to see they do check up on things? We say how unsettling this is but think about those who they do pottentially catch causing abklogs in immigration cases due to fraud! If you had nothing to hide and they walked away like you said, you have nothing to worry about. Just because ROC was approved that doesn't mean you're a U.S. citizen, maybe the case officer approved when they shouldn't have and they really just wanted to do a final check? Lots of scenarios but it sounds like you did fine and they walked away.

My husband took an info pass appointment today to get his passport stamped, we applied 751 to CSC (have the ominous "CASE STATUS") message and have already applied for N400 --

The info-pass officer was very nice and helpful. He informed my husband that the local office has requested his 751 application from CSC (as of Feb 4 which was the day of his N400 biometrics) - he also informed my husband that we would interview for both at the same time and that the citizenship application is taking about 8 months total, so we should expect interview by August/September (good timing as our baby is Due end of July / August 😂)

Originally, we took the appt to get his passport stamped (his mom's a bit old and he wanted to keep everything up to date just in case anything happens) - they stamped it for another year for us.

Feeling a bit relieved knowing not all is lost in oblivion.

How long is the I-551 stamp valid for? Does it show an expiration date?

Yup, I just got the text message and email saying there’s an update but the USCIS case status or myuscis don’t have any updates to show.

hopefully they will update it later today.

    super frustrating.

i was transferred to Nebraska and my case was received January 17 2018, WAC1807

I didn't even get an email or text! No idea what there agenda is but hopefully there is a real update and a good one to come.
