Where did you have the interview exactly? Manhattan, Garden City or somewhere else?
In Garden City it takes at lest 6 weeks, for Manhattan office could be faster. But it can take also few months.

I have a question for you long islanders out there. Is NYC our district office? I was checking out the processing times for the I-485 and they are working on cases with a date of Jan 2004. That seems a tad bit ridiculous. Am i looking at a 2 year wait for our interview? I guess that 400 dollar fee does not go to far.
The closest office for you is Garden City, I am from the Bronx and had my interview there. People from Manhattan or Westchester are more likely to go to the Manhattan office for interview. (Although I have never seen a separate timeline for Garden City)
It took me 8 months to the interview( July 05-march 06) and I just got approved last week and I'm waiting for the card. But I think I have seen people who applied in September and had interviews in April.
But there are also people in NYC who wait several years for the interview, that is why the timeline looks so bad although things are speeding up lately in NYC.
Wish you luck and a bit of patience

Congratulations
Looks like Manhattan is faster than Garden City.
I got my welcome notice yesterday too, after almost 6 weeks since the interview in Garden City.

I hope you get a notice soon, I know the waiting is terrible. But I am sure it will be there this week.

Today is a gooood day!
I just checked my case status online and there it is : "On May 1, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case." So it looks they finally did the FBI check and after almost 6 weeks from interview there is approval.
We applied for AOS July 17 2005, so if the card is here soon, it will be 10 months. Not bad time in NYC
You just have to be very patient after Garden City. Wish you all who are waiting much luck!

Hi
there is a small group here already form NY
I had interview on March 23 in Garden City. Have you been there too or in Manhattan?
It is standard in Garden City that they do not make decision, because they still have to do FBI check, and that takes around 5 weeks. So do not worry!
I am still waiting for news and it is already over 2 months.
But there was a VJ - NigerLA - that had interview on March 13 and just got welcome letter.
Do not worry
Be patient

Hello
we had the same problem last year
you have to call them and make a request to change it, you will speak with an operator, she/he will ask you some questions. After they process it you will get a confirmation letter about this request.
but be careful, it may take them a while, like 2-3 months, so if you do anything before like biometrics, tell them that there is a mistake, so that you will not get 2 records, because this could mess up.
I got my receipts for AOS and EAC in july, and called them stright away, but I still got by EAC in september with the wrong number, and 2 days later the letter that they changed the number but they noticed my card was already sen so I have to replace it. So we had to send all forms again, and the original EAC application to prove that we were right from beginning.
So call them as soon as possible, but there still may be problems later.
Wish you luck, and that it goes better than with in our case. It was really not nice experience

Yeah, i know we did submit both of them (Vaccination and medical) earlier. But we are just worried they will still question us. I heard some stories that those officers are very troublesome sometimes. For example, they would tell you they lost your original medical result and you need to get another one done in US. Nightmare...
Thay may not have the medical ( they did not have uors) but if it happens don't worry!! It was in the brown envelope handed over on airport and they should have it. Just say you made it in your country and handed over on airport, should be OK
As to the medical coverage, I cover my wife's medical. We have two separated cards. We will bring them to interview. Is it good or shall we get a formal letter showing medical coverage?make copies of the cards, you need somethinh to leave them, to show is not enough.
Wish you luck on the interview

And one more thing:)
if you had more than one wedding ceremony, for example separate civil and church ceremony you have to be clear that if speaking about wedding you speak only about the civil ceremony at city clerk etc. e made our officer quite confused with that and it took us a while to make it clear.
it is also a nice idea if you don't have a lawyer to sit in the waiting room next to somebody who has. You can hear very interesting things and it could help before the interview to calm down because they don't really know much more than the people here:)

Hi
thank you for all your help, especialy you "darth bangkok". We had the same officer as you, the lady with son in Okinawa
The interview was really very similar. She first asked us for photos and where and when we met. She asked some questions about one photo.
Then she went through our file, organized our documents so that it will be esier for people in the future to go through them:) gave us some of the not necessery things - like old photos and state and city tax returns. she took two photos: one from wedding and one other because she did not want to make the file to big
After asking all the questions from the adjustment form she said that the interview is complete and they have to check if I said the truth in the computer but they do it in the New York City and it takes 3 to 4 weeks.
Then she explained to us when to apply for the permanent card and citizenship.
I agree to about the lawyers. It is funy that they just check client documents right bevor the intervie, if something is missing or they dont have a copy you can do anything.
We had intervie at 10.30. e came at 9.45 and left after noon. And after that went to restaurant and to Johns Beach, a very nice place.
Thank you all one mor time.
I hope we will have the card soon

We mailed middle July last year, interview is march 23 in Garden City. So it takes 8 months.
Just waiting for fingerprints is 2 months, but that was during the summer, now could be faster, although that is more important when waiting for EAD.

if I am correct you filled just in October, and already have interview, wow, congrat
I was waiting almost 3 months for biometrics, I am afraid so is NYC in the summer

dont worry and look for job already. It always take a while to find something, then another week or more for them to decide ant the again at least week to start. At least for real permamet job.
An if you can do not metion your status, and if they realy ask (but shoudn't - it is illegal) explain exactly what is your situation and when you have interview.
You need to show card just on the first day.
Wish you luck!!
