CORRECTION
5 you can apply after 2 years and 9 month if you are eligible
and you start counting from the date of her residency (when she got her GC), not from marriage date
and you must meet some requirements
6. one of those requirements is continuous residency
a 6 month stay abroad resets her residency
so she will have to start counting to have 30 months of residency after you come back to apply for naturalization

so what is the adress on the petition right now and who is checking the mail
what is her status online for the lifting conditions
if you missed some important mail she may have problems coming back to USA
1. she can try tot ravel withtwo passports one valid and the other one with the stamp
I think you can get a new one only by going by person
2. Do something, becouse it is VERY important to know what is going on
3. gettting the 10 year card is not just a formality, some people have interviews, some have RFEs
you have to find out what is the status of her application ASAP

Updating Meogia. Still waiting to hear from the other Marchers. Hope the list will turn red real soon
OMG, we are almost done!
congratulations to the new citizens!

Our officer is dark hair in her 30's. She looks more friendly (my husband said) than she is after I told him my interview experience.
I think NYC interview is the toughest. You can expect anything.
So Krysia, you did not get immediate approval at the interview but you got the approval letter in the mail two weeks later after your interview. Correct? Did you get your oath letter yet?
YES, i passed the test but got a note "a decision cannot be made at this time"
2 weeks later I got the oath invitation letter,
My oath was on July 24
-
We would like to know if anyone who had interview at the same place as we did? Is it normal to have no result at the interview? How long will they mail us the decision?
I wonder if this was the same officer as mine
a blonde lady in her thirties?
she asked me for a lot of documents too
and everything was very organized,
and I couldn't keep my stuff on the desk in front of me
I also didn't get a decision right away (she wasn't sure if she had enough bona fide evidence)
But I got the interview letter two weeks later
NYC has really some of the best interviews

[i'm taking all the papers we submitted when we filed i751, all the originals, plus all updated utility bills, light, home phone ,cellphone, cable, life insurance policies, health insurance, i mean im taking a box of evidence which i wont offer unless im asked for. I dont know if i shoudl take some pictures of us, updated. Thanks for the info.
make sure you have someting for each year (copies of submitted or new)
and that you have the most recent bills available (heard about a story at Newark where the IO asked for a recent utility bill, the girl had something in her bag, a month old, but the officer said she needs hte most recent )
do you own/lease the appartment/house together?
But they rarely give hard time
I'm sure your box will look quite funny, want to see the pictures
-
No, there is only one certificate
You get the real one right on the ceremony
then you have to give the real one away with the passport application
and it comes back in mail in a few weeks, than you can frame it if you want
-
i applied for US passport and got the passport in mail the other day but my citizenship certificate original was missing. do they send this via separate mail?
can u share ur experience please? i am starting to panick...
I live in the Bronx
I got my passport last thursday and passport card and the certificate on saturday
I was also already getting worried
the certificate comes in quite a big USPS thick envelope
if you have a small mailbox ask at your postoffice
-
I also wanted to know if my wife can travel abroad after her interview and before her oath ceremony?
Untill the oath you are still just a green card holder and you can travel with your green card
at the oath ceremony they take away your green card and you cannot travel untill you apply and receive your passport

Tini27
Did you send a lot of documents when you were sending the lifting conditions application?
I remember I did't send much (and got lucky)
but maybe that's why they were asking me for all that 2006 stuff
-
I had my interview on the 7/7/09 and approved. I havent received my Oath letter yet. but to day i received this email. Do i have to worry about this?

Tini27 last time got after the inteview a request for evidence email, but never a letter
They probably sent the wrong message
-
But overall, I just don't understand why they are required if it's not officially stated anywhere.
Isn't the interview letter asking you for proof of martial union?
Some oficers like to to have a good coverrage for all the years of your marriage
So it all depends how much you submited with the lifting conditions paperwork
if at that time you send documents for the prior 2 years, thay may only ask for some recent stuff
if you only submited recent documents at lifting then they may even ask you for stuff from 2006 & 2007 (I had that, Tini27 had too)
also I never submited something for joint residence (husbands apartment) and the oficer was asking why

hi guys i will finally take my oath this coming Friday July 31st. ...what do i need to do after? what agencies i need to inform that i am a USC if there's any.
apply for a US passport
an inform the Social Security office of your new status
-
Hello All!
I did include these with my original application package - why do you think I need to take them again...is it a problem or just routine?
1) My state driving license
2) proof of termination of previous marriages for both me and my spouse
Routine!
On the real interview letter the list will be much longer
just wait a few days.
-
Help!!!! I woke up today to this email from USCIS:
I know yhis may sound stupid,
but maybe somebody just pressed the wrong button in the system?
-
A copy of his US passport and marriage certificate were sent in with the N400. Also, I volunteered more docs but he didn't seem to like it too much so I thought I'd just provide with whatever he asked.
I don't know what docs they need, that was just a copy of the email I received from USCIS, i guess I'll wait monday to know what they want. I should receive the written notice mondy or tuesday. I don't mind providing more info, I've got nothing to hide and have a bonafide marriage. Heck, I'll send them elementary school records if they asked for them. At this point, I'm not trying to be rational with USCIS, just give them whatever they ask and get it over with. My only concern is that I have the oath letter right here and it does not say anything about possible delays due to missng infos. If he couldn't approve of the file, he should've said so right there and then and I would've provided whatever evidence, I had a bag full of paperwork .
I'm sorry. They are really something , here in New York!
I hope it is just something stupid, like a missing signature or document
-
Congratulations Tini27,
I see you learned from me and were prepared with all that 2006 bills!
I had my oath today
in Manhattan at 500 Pearl Street, right next to Federal Plaza.
To cell phones and cameras were allowed in the building, so I have no pictures
The whole process started at 9 and we left just before noon, most of that was waiting
they started with just seating us, then they colected our green cards, employment cards and the letter
The letter has to be signed at the place of your oath and at the oath date!
Then we waited for the judge until 11.20, said the oath, heard a speach and got our certificates with a handshake from the judge
lots of waiting, good that I brought a book with me.
Right after the ceremony I wen to apply for passport
and had to give away my brand new naturalization certificate
for a few weeks
-
Can anybody help how can I get my ex wife divorce decree from her previous marriage?? also, how can I obtain her birth certificate?? I have no contacts with her anymore, I don't know her whereabouts!! Please help me.
Are you sure you don't have copies of previously submitted documents anywhere.
Here on VJ they always recomend making copies of files you send out.
If you don't have the documents start looking for your wife.
You have to be careful here, this can mess up your citizenship or even more
Tini27, good luck tomorrow!
I'm getting ready for Friday, I will let you know how it went
-
In the interview notification letter, it says they recommend us to bring 2 more passport style photos. But we did send our package with 2 required photos. Does anyone have an idea of that?
Bring them, although they didn't ask for mine,
but if they don't take them you can use them for passport in a few weeks
Our interview time is at 7:25am but it says normally it takes 2 hours or more to process. We have to get up early on that day for sure. Has anyone had the interview there? Will you have the Oath ceremony after the interview?I had my interview there on June 16, but in the afternoon, I arrived half an hour early and was waiting for an hour
I have also seen a few people waiting for something after the interview, but I am not sure if for the oath or just the oath letter
I didn't get a decision after my interview.
My oath in on the 24th (too:) right across the street.
-
Any advice would be welcome on whether I should stick strictly to the list or if there is any advantage in taking anything not requested for the N-659 interview.
I was asked for some bona fide documents for 2006, I guess that falls under the "proof of marital union point on the checklist
but I was't much prepared for that much detail
-
After all that stress I got my oath letter today, for July 24
updated the list and also made some othe missing updates, hope all of them

@krysia, sorry you have to wait, is there any way you can make an infopass and provide the missing docs? or call the IO directly? Hope you'll be done soon.
For now I have to wait for some mail from them
She said it might be enough, and I will get the decision by mail
I gues if I don't hear back in 3 weeks I will try to contact her
-
I was just asked today on my interview for joint documents for year 2006
So make sure you have some supporting documents for the last 3 years
Wow - that surprises me - we don't have a whole lot for 2006 not much more than what we showed at AOS... plus taxes. Were you able to show them enough?
I had tax transcripts for 2006
and two statements from our joint bank account
she also had some old stuff in her file
she wasn't sure that will be enough and did not make her decision yet

I didnt send much with my application but then I was asked for stuff on the interview
I gues my 1 inch thick file wasent properly updated
so you can send stuff now or bring it to the intervew
they wont ask for stuff that you alredy submitted with lifting but rather for the other years
so the most recen stuff or the years you skipped before
I was missing 2006 docs in the fle, and the officer asked exactly for those (not the new ones)
Tini27 also had nice document requests on her interview
