So FYI, my wife was denied a tourist visa when she wanted to visit me around the holidays in 2014. She had a job at a prestigious law firm as a lawyer, adequate savings and strong ties to return. The issue came in when they asked how the trip will be funded. She stated, "my bf will pay for the trip". Instant denial. ABSOLUTELY PAY FOR THE TRIP YOURSELF AND MAKE NO MENTION OF HIM PAYING FOR ANYTHING OR YOU WILL BE DENIED. It didn't matter that she traveled internationally for work and pleasure multiple times across the EU and Asia. She was in a similar situation to yours too. Lived at home with family, same age, etc. In the end she did get to come be with me, but having to wait because of no tourist visa is a pain in the ###. I ended up going over there a second time instead due to her getting screwed over.

All pretty quiet in here. I've not had to update our tracking table since the start of the week which is kinda disappointing.
I see from my USPS informed delivery that I have a letter from USCIS that is coming today. It's hard to make out the senders zip code but from what I can make out it looks to be from the Kansas City, Missouri field office. I don't want to start too much speculation, so will wait until it drops in the mailbox before reporting back. It was stamped on 3/27. Would seem odd to me to be a biometrics appointment when others haven't had theirs unless California has cleared their backlog in one swoop. Stay tuned!
Seems like for the January 2018 filers, most of the VSC people have their notices, while the first CSCer just had their biometrics appointment this week. That CSC person was a late filer, January 26th with the bio appointment on 3/27, but got their notice before anybody else did. I kind of have a hard time seeing the 35+ people that filed CSC before them not updating their statuses at all. It's a very odd situation. The wait time for VSCers still seems to be 6-8 weeks on average.
From December 2017, only about half of CSC filers got their bio appointments, but it's hard to tell if everyone is active there or not. Their most recent CSC person was over a month ago, so it does seem like things are working toward February eventually. I'd say we start getting CSC notices for our group in the next week or two. Just still keeping fingers crossed that it won't affect our vacation in the next two weeks cause delaying the biometrics would suck.

I remember when we went to our AoS interview, after we were approved she let us know a bit about the process for RoC. She stated that in general, 95% of RoC cases don't require interviews if you have sufficient information available. Based on how much info most people have submitted, I don't think there will be very many interviews to worry about. Plus with the massive timeline between fingerprints and getting to the cases, it'll be faster to do the N-400 after your 3 year mark and gain citizenship so nobody has to worry about long delays from USCIS again.

See FrenchKat, you were getting so worried about all this, I said it will come in time and it did, well done getting you Bio already, meanwhile us over at California......crickets, but never mind I'm still legal with that extension letter!
It must be penance fro getting my Green card in less than 7 weeks on AOS! lol
Yeah I feel the same way. Back when we applied for K1 we got approved from NOA1 to NOA2 in three weeks. CSC was fast back then and it helped us complete the process and be in person together much sooner than we anticipated. So we have to wait now being at CSC, but we are together in person this time so it's not so bad. Our AoS was only about 10 weeks too so I guess I shouldn't complain too much.

Since I'm a late CSC filer for Feb I booked our Hawaii tickets today at a great deal. Held off on booking because I thought we'd be getting CSC biometric notices during the time we planned on being gone. Well it's been almost two months in the early Feb 2018 filers cases and no biometrics for any CSCers yet, so I decided to just book the trip and enjoy life instead of being mad at USCIS every day for being backed up.
Now the hardest part will be waiting the next two weeks to leave.

That's amazing news, congrats! Vermont tags another one! C'mon CSC Next!!!

I'm glad you finally got something in. Gives you a very comfortable calming feeling. Good for you!

I think it's correct and you are correct. Mine is same.
That's good to know. With having it sent out now there seems to be questions almost everyday like, "did I do this part right" or "did I forget this", stuff like that. Thanks!

I also just noticed something about our I-797. On the letter in the Petitioner and Beneficiary category, it has the same person listed (my wife). This seems normal since she is the one that is applying for RoC and would also be the beneficiary of it. Correct me if I'm wrong though, as we triple checked all our forms and just now checked our own copy we kept and it is all on the up and up.

Question for the people who got biometrics letters already. What does your receipt numbers say about the case online when you look it up? Most of ours are still stuck at "Fingerprint Fee Received". If yours is updated, please let us know what it says so those of us who don't have one yet can keep an eye out. Thanks.

That's good to know thank you.

Makes me think of a similar question about my situation. We just submitted I-751, but we showed a years worth of transactions on our joint account. Only issue is that the deposits don't show who made them as we just put the majority of our checks in that account on paydays. Also the withdraws don't show which card was used to buy which things (we each have our own card), only shows that withdraws were made from the account and to which stores they went to. Is it an issue I should be worried about in a year or so when they get around to our packet? We have proof of other purchases together including a house, multiple cars, joint taxes for three years, etc. Everything with both our names on it.

Congrats,I think you are the first to get it in our group of Feb 2018 filers, which centre, California or Vermont?
They are from Vermont. VSC tends to be a bit quicker, so I suspect a lot more VSCers will be having news in the next few weeks.

Hi everyone, so here we are, most of us February 2018 filers waiting for our biometrics letter, ( I know a few are still waiting for their NOA1's, and I hope you get them soon)
I want to kill some time while we are waiting, as I know this next step will be a long process, so how long did it take you to get your Green Card after applying for AOS?
It took me just under 7 weeks for my K1, which surprised me as I waited an awful long time in the backlog at Texas for my K1 approval. I am from the UK.
How long did you wait for your AOS?
K1 Visa took around 4 months until Visa in hand. Green card took about three months from submitting AoS until GC in hand. So this is our first exceptionally long wait. Even just waiting for biometrics is a pain in the butt.

The sponsor has to fill out the I-865 whenever you move: https://www.uscis.gov/i-865
Just had to do this, it's free and took about a week to get the response back.
The I-485 is the AOS application, that is not needed as you did it two years ago to get the green card.

Hi ALIENRJ187, you mean a month after got NOA1? Wow, why it takes so long than normal. Strange.
Yes at least a month after getting NOA1. I was doing some reading in the Dec2017 and Jan2018 threads and their timelines which is how I got the info. I wanted to know myself because we are planning a trip to Hawaii and don't want to miss our appointment if the letter comes before we leave or while we are gone. Timeframe between getting the biometrics letter and the actual appointment also varies. The only thing I dont know is the timeframe between getting the biometrics letter and the actual appointment. It seems to be around two weeks though.
Copy paste from my post on page 23:
Does anyone know the rough timelines between getting NOA and getting biometrics, as well as the average length of time between getting biometrics and the actual appointment? My wife and I are taking a few weeks off work next month (already scheduled) and we want to go on a trip to Hawaii early next month (around April 3-15). However we can't book anything if the biometrics will be at the same time, and we won't know when that is for who knows how long. We would also prefer to not reschedule biometrics if at all possible since it'll just delay things further
So my thought was to wait until we get the letter and plan around it. If it comes late or doesn't come at all until after our vacation time is over, then we lose our window for the trip. So our other thought was to book a last minute trip like 1-2 days before we'd leave (if we don't get biometrics by that time). It has the benefit that we might get a really cheap rate (or possibly screw our trip over too), but also odds are if the letter came while we were gone we wouldn't miss the appointment. If worse comes to worst we do have an alternate trip planned that won't have us gone for so long or for so far away, and we can take the Hawaii trip in August instead.
The January 2018 thread has almost everyone at VSC got their appts on average a month or more after getting the NOAs. NOBODY getting biometrics appointments yet from CSC (we are at CSC).
The December 2017 thread the VSC people are on average about a month as well between NOAs to biometrics. The CSC people only about half got the biometrics appointments and the times vary from 2 weeks to 2 months after getting NOAs.
The November 2017 thread the VSC people averaged a month or more in most cases while the CSC people averaged three weeks between NOA and biometrics.
So I guess in the process I sort of answered my own question, but the data could help someone else so here it is. I guess I'll just wait to see when Jan 2018 and Feb 2018 CSC filers start getting their biometrics appointments so I can keep track of it and plan accordingly.

How long does it take to get a biometric appointment letter? Has been two weeks since I got my NOA 🤔🤔
Some people have been waiting over a month. Roughly half of CSC filers in December have theirs, January almost none have theirs. I'd expect another month wait at least for CSC. VSC is slightly faster with about a month wait based on trends from the last few months.

I previously applied for a K1 for my ex-fiance. I cancelled the process about a week before she went to her interview to get the fiancee visa. I cancelled it because I learned she was lying and cheating on me, and I wasn't going to have any of that. They were quite expedient about cancelling everything too. The second one I did was with my wife back in 2015 and it went through without any problems. Just make sure when the question on the K1 asks if you've ever filed before, you say yes and you list everything they ask for about it on those extra pages. Like reason for denial, old WAC#, dates, etc. My wife got through fine so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

We are actually going to Hawaii in April, coincidentally. Trip's already booked; we'll be gone 26 April - 4 May. Based on what I was seeing in earlier months, it seemed like people were getting their biometric letters about a month to a month and a half after the NOA. My wife's NOA was dated 2/9 so I'm hoping that biometric letter comes soon. It would be nice if the appointment didn't fall during our trip, but if we have to reschedule, so be it. Considering CSC's processing timeline at the minute, what's another month or two, honestly.
That's the trends I was noticing as well. Also since nobody in the January 2018 thread who went through CSC even got their biometrics appointments yet, I think it'll be a good bet that we can go in April as well.

It would be better to post here:
More people posting here with timelines and everything that can help out. Most seem to take 1-2 weeks to get extension letter depending where you file, but it can be longer in a few cases.

FYI I got my NOA in the mail on 3/2 so it can be added to the list when you have time. Thanks for keeping it up to date for everyone.

Maybe it's just me, but the site has ALWAYS said Sept 22, 2016 for me. I didn't start checking until around Feb 15, 2018 myself, granted I just filed last month, but it's always been the same date and year so far. Seeing as processing times take over a year at both service centers, I guess I"m not seeing the issue. If the wait time was only 6 months which a Sept 2017 date would indicate, there wouldn't be this massive backlog problem there is now. If it did say 2017 yesterday, then someone input an error and then fixed it.

Did you file the AR-11 when you moved? It's required or else you don't get the documents as the permanent resident, including things like your I-797 and biometrics letters. Seems like you may not have got your biometrics appointment letter and missed it, therefore denied. Also the I-865 needs to be filed when you move by the US citizen spouse, don't forget that. Do those two things first then re-submit.
-
My wife and I filled out an AR-11 when we moved to our new house back in 2016. She is the permanent resident and I'm the USC. Having just sent off our I-751 last month, now I'm like how did I not know about needing to update it for myself? They sent out our I-797 last week to the correct address, albeit with her name on it. So I suppose I have to fill out yet another form and send it in when we just sent our packet out a few weeks ago. This is pretty irritating when you think you have all the paperwork done for awhile and you have to go at it again.

I was dating someone in 2011 who I got engaged to and filed a K1 so I could be with her and her child and they could come live with me. Found out after several months she faked a pregnancy, pretty convincingly except she made a mistake which couldn't be overlooked or explained in any other way. Found out after dating for over a year that she was lying to me about everything, even after lots of Skype calls and even an in person visit for a few weeks. She was about a week away from the K1 interview when I found out the truth. I cancelled the interview and immediately wrote up a letter to the embassy in Manila cancelling the petition. She was super upset of course, but the evidence, along with how she was acting strangely for awhile (which finally made sense now) was more than enough to convince me that she was a fraud. The embassy was quite quick (within a week), responding back to me about how they have pulled the file and cancelled the petition based on my written request.
I was quite angry, but also glad that I found out before I actually got married to her or before she got the Visa.
