  1. Hi everyone,

I received my citizenship early February, which after 7 long years has been a huge sigh of relief!!

Currently I would like to finally travel back home to Europe but I am having the hardest time figuring out where to apply for a passport? Maybe I'm not knowing where  you can go to apply for one?

The USPS offices assigned for passports are all booked for the month and beyond. Half of them don't even offer the service anymore.

I want to go home in June or July, given the passport production time in addition to this insane wait time - it's not even looking like that's possible?

Can I travel with my European passport to Europe and use my CA ID to come back in, maybe along with my certificate of naturalization?

Are there any other places that handle passport applications?

Just trying to find out how I can make it happen to finally go back home in June. It's important I can.

Thank you all, it seemed like such a simple last thing to do but I've really been scratching my head here lol.

USC mother files an I-130 petition with USCIS to start the immigration process.  This would be an F1 family preference case where the current wait is 7 years for an immigration benefit.  If your friend gets marry during the wait, it would change to an F3 case where the wait is 13 years for an immigration benefit.

Once mom files the I-130, your friend can travel between the US and Canada.  Your friend can visit the US.  Your friend can't live here during the wait for an immigration benefit.

7 years? LOL that is WILD.

Has it always been that long or is this with all the current Covid restrictions?

Lord Jesus, why do they have to make everything so lengthy.

Thanks for the information. Much appreciated!!!

  3. Hi everyone,

    Hope all is well!

My friend is 33 years old, unmarried, living in Canada and would like to join their family who live in Nevada, USA.

Their mother is a US citizen who will be the petitioner. Before the process starts, a lot of questions came up, so I offered to help and ask them here:

    - Once their mother sends in the petition, can the adult child still travel back and forth between the US and Canada for family visits while they wait on the decision?

    - Should my friend be in Canada once a decision is made on their mother's petition? Or could it be okay to continue filing in the US via the Canadian embassy? (I'm assuming it's best to do it in Canada but they were wondering so I'm passing the Q along)

    - What is the current timeline from start to completion? I heard it can take years before a decision is even made on the initial petition from the parent.

    - Any tips or shared experiences are welcome!

    Thanks so much!

    All my best

  4. Hi everyone,

I hope you're all safe and well!

Like many, I lost my job due to Covid and am looking to file for unemployment benefits.

My work situation is a bit odd: I left a (toxic) W2 job in February, to start at a start-up company a week later, as an independent contractor. One week into the start-up company job, the owner undergoes a massive loss and dissolves my job. Three weeks after that, i'm in my 3rd round of interviews at a company I already had a relationship with, this was as good as a sure deal. Covid happens, job put on hold. Now here we are, unemployed.

My question: will applying for unemployment affect my citizenship application? I know we sign wavers saying we won't become a liability to the State, does that include unemployment? I'm not exactly sure how it all works.

    Thank you!

  5. Hi all,

we are almost ready to send our RFE in. I was wondering if we could track the time it takes to get your RFE approved?

I will post all our details tonight. No clue how long it takes them to process an RFE but would like to know what we can sort of expect.

I saw someone got approved within a month after sending it in but that seems so fast lmao! Hope that’s how it will go.

We filed in CA last January, got shipped to Nebraska this February, received RFE late March.

What are they asking for on the RFE? Did you have life insurance?

I'm still waiting on the letter so I'm not sure, I just got an email notification.

We don't have life insurance. We do have health insurance and now we recently got dental through my job so I can add that.

But I just have no idea. Did they lose our evidence? Is that why?

We had everything on the checklist, I just absolutely do not understand. I cried my eyes out, not gonna lie.

  7. We received a RFE today.

    I'm devastated.

I don't understand what else they could need from us. We submitted everything they asked: stacks of photos, joint lease, joint savings account, bills in our names to the same address, joint insurance policies, cards from others addressed to us, everything.

Could they ask for a RFE if we maybe forgot to fill out a form? I don't understand.

The only thing we forgot to add was testimonies from friends but that can't be it, can it?

    We are gutted.

This was supposed to be the release moment.

How long does it averagely take for them to respond to our RFE once they receive it?

    All help is appreciated.

Nope, nothing yet. We could hear something any day now. It’s the uncertainty that’s killing me lol. I need my green card so I can finally go to see my recruiter ..

Thank you all for always being so supportive and understanding! It’s so helpful!

The silver lining I thought of is that not very many of us got shipped there so once they do start it should go fast....

Your recruiter shouldn’t be able to make a problem if you show the extension letters. Those are 100% solid as a rock to get you hired. Best of luck to you! Your recruiter is lucky to have you :)

Our status just changed to Card was mailed to me too. It was a long and stressful wait.

Did anyone who received their approval get shipped to Nebraska too? My number is also WAC1807 and I’m just so disheartened numbers around mine in CSC are getting approved. I still don’t understand why we got shipped from California when there has been 0 movement from Nebraska.

Lol 😂 @Nele right ! Well, maybe I was looking at he old site because the site the text message directed me to it was updated there in real time! Smh ! They have changed their websites 80 million times . At any rate, maybe an approval is nigh ?!

Lmao! Girl, I have all my candles lit, my toes and fingers crossed and I’m sending out all the vibes for you and our approval. I mean, it’s gonna come and we’re definitely close! Hopefully this means they touched your case and you’ll receive your letter soon!

So, I finally remembered my password and got in online and online it says the same thing it always has that “fingerprint review was completed “ how can the website and customer service website say two different things ?

what I’ve learned is that none of it adds up and everything happens at random.

I have received two notifications about the same transfer to Nebraska (Nebraska?! I filed at CSC, makes no sense) with a month’s time in between each notice, the new site hasn’t updated for me since 2018 but the old site has, there have been people who just got their approval letter in the mail without ever receiving a notification or an update on either website. Nothing makes sense. 🤷🏻‍♀️

But we out here and one of these days all of us will be able to celebrate finally getting through it!!

Thank you Nele!! I filed at CSC January 17th last year. The old website never changed “uscis cannot provide information at this time” and the new website never changed either from “case was received”. Still nothing has changed anywhere. Keep your hopes up! 🤞🏼

Ha my case was received on that date at CSC too, only mine got shipped to Nebraska... I’m keeping my hopes up and most days I’m really optimistic but some days I’m just so damn tired of it.

but genuinely happy for you!! Hope ours gets approved soon too!

The letter was an approval letter!!!  Thank the lord 🙏🏼🙏🏼.. Notice date is 03/05/2019. It says I should get my green card within 60 days!! Not update on any website yet .. I applied for citizenship on January 9th this year.. hopefully you guys will hear news soon! 🤞🏼

    Congratulations!!!

Where did you file and did your case ever get transferred?

Hope you throw yourself a big party!

  15. Has anyone who got sent to Nebraska and received the second transfer notice last month gotten a second NOA letter about that? I got the text and the email but I haven’t received a letter. It’s been almost a month now so that’s odd. I received my letter about the first transfer within 2 weeks after the notifications.

i feel like maybe we never got sent to Nebraska and are probably still in CA?

What is the 800 number you can call for info?

Lmao my husband and I have senioritis. Are we there yet?

I checked my case status at the old site: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do and got this notification

    image.thumb.png.f8185714b7a928b52acbb060a556d648.png

But when I checked my status on the new site: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

It still says fingerprint reviewed. I am not sure if this says I am approved or not since the two sites are not aligned.

Are there people that have their card that only have the updated status on the old site?

    Thank you!

My status on the new website hasn’t been updated since I filed last year. The old one is the only one that gets updated for me as well! So go celebrate because you got it!!! Congratulations!

  17. I just realized the update is now saying they transferred my case to another field office on February 6.

the first update about a case transfer was on February 5.

did they actually ship it to two different places in two days? Why do I get an update now about February 6???? Is it back in California, is it still in Nebraska, nobody knows.

    This is beyond ridiculous.

Wow! I just saw this article... had no idea this was happening.

they’re also being sued by Employer Organizations for the backlog and new measurements regarding work-related visas, which apparently has caused crazy problems and are costing companies an arm and a leg in legal fees, trying to keep up.
