  1. Kinda wish I was a K visa!

I have checked out other time line and noticed that the difference between me and those 4-5 individuals with case complete dates very close to mine who already have their interview dates, is that they've been in the system longer than me - that is, their NOA2 dates are months older than mine.

    I'll keep hoping, thanks!

  2. Hi everyone,

Is there a standard or at least an average wait time from case complete at NVC to getting an interview date at MTL, for CR-1 Visas? I noticed on the State Department website that they have standard wait times for non-immigrant visas, but nothing for immigrant visas.

I had my case complete on May 12 and still am awaiting an interview date. I know I am probably still normal in terms of wait time, but I wanted to know if there's a standard by which I can expect to get an interview date.

    Thanks!

  3. Thanks. That's what I thought, and my mistake was the NOA2 vs NOA1.

It make sense, objectively speaking, that people who have been in the system longer get preferred scheduling for an interview than people who haven't been in the system as long. So, if me and another person have the same CC, but his NOA1 is earlier than mine, it would make sense that he gets to interview first.

I've noticed a few of the CC from my time have NOA1s that are earlier than mine.

Still hoping for a July interview for MTL!

Your PD date at times for scheduling not always may come in to play when there is a batch of you to schedule. Case Complete comes first . That's what gets you in the queue. Once in the queue they start plotting you in dates.

I know I see many people complain and say I had case complete weeks before this one and that one. I say look at their PD date (their NOA1...Not the Approval date NOA2 that means nothing) and that seems only fair when someone files really means something how long they have been in the system. So many times that's why you may see someone who may have had a case complete long before someone else and get like 7/30/2015 interview and someone just gets case complete today and gets a 7/4/2015 look at the NOA1 that usually is the answer why).

    Hope that helps explains.

  4. Can anyone shine some light on the priority date as a factor in determining when you get an interview? That is, the NOA2? Someone mentioned something about it earlier, and I am wondering how much weight it holds.

My CC is May 12, but my NOA2/PD was Feb 23. Do the other Canadian MTL filers who have CC in May have earlier NOA2/PDs than I do?

Also as an aside, do any MTL filers have any tips? I tried calling the consulate today, but nothing there. NVC told me the case hasn't been assigned an appointment yet.

  5. Hi there fellow Canadian / MTL filers:

My CC is May 12, I just called the NVC but no appointment has been scheduled for me yet :/ I got excited after seeing 3-4 Canadians who got their interview dates today with CC dates around the same as mine.

My priority date on my CC email is Feb 23 - does this have any bearing? Do the other MTL filers have priority dates that are before mine?

  6. Can we all not check the registration requirements in the states that we intend on living in? If the DMV in your state doesn't need the letter, and only needs the basic info (Canadian registration, drivers license, etc), can this be sufficient? Some DMVs do their own safety and emissions checks.

We are allowed to enter with a vehicle and have up to one year to register it, correct?

  7. Hi everyone,

Shout out to the Canadians and the MTL filers here: I got a case complete on May 12, and the confirmation email on May 19. I haven't yet received an interview date, and when calling the NVC, they said none has been set yet.

I read here and there that interviews are often scheduled in the last week/first week of the month.

Are there any other MTL filers out there with CC in May but with no interview yet? I just want to ensure I am not the only one!

    Thanks

  8. Has anyone here received a checklist in the email, on the same day that their case was complete? This has happened to me. Case complete on May 12, but I got two checklist emails yesterday: one for W2s that I need to bring with me to the interview, and the other for a police certificate that the NVC says I never submitted, but I did.

I spoke to the NVC last night, they confirmed my case was completed and now awaiting an interview date. In regards to the missing police certificate, the NVC rep said it could simply be a mix up in the email system and to wait a couple days to see if I get any notification. If not, then he said I should call the NVC back and escalate to a supervisor.

I am confused - case complete but with a checklist?

  9. Woke up this morning to 3 N/As and was elated. Got home this evening to two checklist emails and am confused!

Currently on the phone with NVC, waiting...

    In the interim:

    (1) Got a checklist to submit the W2s of my petitioner and joint sponsor, BUT: (a) my petioner never got a W2 for 2014 since she never worked in the USA during that tax year, and (b) we DID submit the join sponsors W2 in the email!

What's even more confusing, is that in the checklist email, is says on one page to send in the missing documents, and then on another, to just send it to me (the applicant) to bring to the interview.

    (2) Got a checklist for a foreign police certificate, BUT: we DID send it in, complete with the translation, in the email!

    What gives?!

  10. Hi everyone,

Just wanted to check if this is a typical correspondence from NVC at this time:

I got an email from the NVC saying they received my documents on April 27 (the day I emailed my AOS and IV packages) and that they are receiving an increased number of approved petitions from the USCIS and that I should expect at least 60 days for the review of my documents.

Given that lately the NVC said 45 days and people here have reported review times of ~21 days, is this ok? I mean, is the NVC suddenly seeing an increase in documents to review?

    Thanks!

  11. Hi,

I actually submitted our DS-260 on April 25 and emailed our AOS and IV packages on April 27, having paid both fees before. I haven't heard back from the NVC so I called them today and the woman on the phone said it can take a couple more days for an official email to get to me.

I also heard from two other Canadians that they got email confirmation ~one week later and took one of them about 25 days for case closed.

We ended up sending one email for the IV package and six (6!) emails for the AOS package, all to keep each email under 5 MBs - and this after I used PDF compression software.

    Hope this helps!

  12. Hi there, fellow EP for MTL member here. We sent in our AOS and IV on the 21st, so our dates are pretty similar.

    1) It's my understanding that when you receive the email is random - some people get it the same day, some a month later (back when processing times were 60 days). I've yet to receive any kind of confirmation email and we're looking at a week's worth of wait tomorrow.

    2) The confirmation email will list the day your documents were received, which is your scan date. Because you submitted your files today through EP, the 21st should be your scan date.

Anyone else please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm still kind of new to this.

For our files, I made sure to scan at a readable DPI, and then used a PDF compressor to shrink our files down to a manageable size. Before I sent the packets I made sure all of my documents were still perfectly clear and legible. We sent two emails, one for IV and one for AOS. I think, as long as you followed the NVC's directions on how to address your emails (Case Number, what the contents are) you should be okay.

Thanks ArroTG for your reply. I too scanned at a readable DPI (easily readable on my screen) and also used a PDF compressor, called PDF Squeezer (which I bought for $4 on the AppStore) to compress the files down. I definitely followed the NVC instructions, which also say you may need to send more than one email, but that each should be no more than 5 MB.

Waiting eagerly for the email confirmation!

  13. Hi everyone

Thought I would also join this thread and spreadsheet:

I am EP for MTL, I submitted all my AOS and IV supporting documents yesterday (April 27) via the NVC email address.

    Question:

    (1) Will I and if so, when will I receive a confirmation email from the NVC that they received my AOS and IV packages?

    (2) Is that confirmation email the "scan date"?

Not sure what others did for EP, but because of the number and size of my files, I had to send six (6!) separate emails for my AOS documents, but I ensured that each email had the same subject line with my NVC Case Number and Email # out of 6, and each file had my NVC Case Number - and each email was under 5 MBs.

    Thanks for your insights!

  14. Hi there -

My joint sponsor's 2014 Tax Transcript is not yet available online, and yet we are almost ready to send int the AOS package. I guess this is the time of year, just after April 15 and filing deadline, where not all information is available.

In lieu of the tax transcript, we will send the joint sponsor's 2014 Form 1040. My questions are:

    (1) How much of the tax return should we send - just the Form 1040 (which shows Line 22, total income, which is what the I-864 needs), or all the associated schedules? That's nearly 25 pages in this case.

    (2) What is available online, is the joint sponsor's 2014 Wage and Income statement, which states all the wages earned and reported to the IRS. Can we attach this instead of the W-2s, since this is more formal?

    Thanks for you suggestions

  15. Can I ask why you got a checklist for your marriage certificate, even though you included it?

I was thinking: in Ontario, there is the long form and wallet sized versions of the marriage certificate. I submitted the long form to the USCIS for my I-130, and got it approved after 18 days with no problems. The long form, even though it has a clearly stated certificate number, also includes the marriage license, which may cause confusion.

Which form did you send in?

  16. Hi everyone -

My wife, the petitioner, is filling out the I-864 for my CR1.

In Part 6, Section 5: Current Individual Annual Income, it says to state your current individual earned or retirement annual income. We can easily do this, however the issue is that once we move to the USA, she will no longer have this specific source of income (i.e. her job). If this is the case, what do we list - her current income in the country we live in, or something else?

    Thank you!
