  1. Hi,

My mother just applied for N400 after living here for 16 years, i helped her with application and signed both forms at the end of the online application, called interpreter & preparer, as requested by USCIS.

My question about who can translate for my mom once she gets her interview since she qualifies for it under the 50/15 rule?

can i do the translation of the questions myself as her son?

there was no mention about limitations about family members in the application itself, it just said my mom is responsible for bringing the interpreter

but i also seen this form around Form G-1256 that talks about some inherent bias from the interpreter etc... is this form for other USCIS applications?

    any input is appreciated

  2. Hello,

My mom is planning to apply for her citizenship next year by Sept, she is 65 year old now and she had her greencard for 18 years!

she left the US for 8months during first half of 2018 as she got sick overseas so we want to not include that trip and start clean by counting from Sept2018 to sept2023.

My question can she take advantage of the early filing and apply by June2023?

she had the green card for 18 years so we dont wanna risk the USCIS agents including the time she was out of country for more than 6 months in the application

    Thank you!

  3. Hi,

I have a question about an old petition, My US citizen brother petitioned for my dad back in 2004 but my dad nvr went through the process, but now he is interested in moving tot he US; he received a letter last year from NVC saying his case was sent back to USCIS in 2006 after we inquired about it. does this mean that my brother needs to restart the process from scratch or is there a way we can just reach out to USCIS to resume the process again, we have the USCIS receipt number & NVC case number.

This is what we see using his USCIS number

Department of State Sent Case to USCIS For Review
On Month, Day, 2006, the Department of State sent us your case, Receipt Number xyz123456789, for review. We are reviewing it, and will notify you by mail when we are done. Please follow any instructions in the notice.

  4. Hello,

i am working on filing FBAR form and i am not sure, besides foreign bank accounts, what else shall i include? i dont know much about all these accounts:(
i heard of RRSP in Canada but how do i know if i was enrolled in them or i and/or my employer contributed to it? would it show in T4?
I know CPP that is mandatory and public, but i am not aware of any program that HR could've added me into and i am out of Canada right now and i only have access to my T4 statement.

  5. Thanks Wuozopo for your quick response,

so i shall file delinquent FBAR for 2015 & mention i didnt know about it, i just realized i had a savings account in which i earned less than  30 CENTS the whole 2015.

when i filed taxes for 2015 Year i put in my income as 0$....i am guessing i have to modify that as well?

and modify 2016 tax which i already filed but i still have deadline till april 15, i might have earned about 40 CENTS of interest in savings account!

  6. Hello and sorry if this is a stupid question but i just learned something calling FBAR filing, i am canadian citizen living in US as PR for last 2 years, i filed 1040form for last 2 years "Tax year 2015 & tax year 2016" eventhough i didnt make any income because i am a green card.
i just became aware about FBAR and i do have canadian bank accounts with just a little bit over 10K, how do i file FBAR for 2015 since deadline is past due and for 2016 as well?
am i in trouble? do i get any penalties?? :(

Thank you so much in advance

  7. Hello Everyone,

I moved to USA from Canada last April as Green card, I lived less than 120 days in US in 2015 and i didnt work anywhere in US or in the world after i moved here, I only worked in Canada before my US move....

Any tips on how to file with the IRS as a dual status, any software i can use or forms i can fill out?

I think i have to file both the 1040 and 1040NR(EZ) & "form 8965 Obamacare penalty exemption"....... I have to file since i need to submit the Tax return to the healthcare.gov people as proof of my financial status & income on 2015 "they require it for some reason for my current Obamacare plan: i did buy an obamacare 2016 plan", i am still unemployed & dont qualify for any medicaid or anything like that..

Thanks in Advance & much appreciated,

  8. Hello,

I have a weird question i moved to the US as new immigrant from Canada in 2015 and its time to do my taxes in US for first time, my question is:

i dont have a W2 form since i didnt work in USA in 2015 although i worked in Canada , how do i apply to IRS?

do i just consider the income i made in Canada as US income, do the currency equivalent and file to IRS based on that?

i havent filed taxes with the canadian TAX agency yet since i am not sure if i will or not

    Thanks,

  10. Hi guys,

I am trying to locate the Loomis confirmation number, but Montreal website has been recently updated and i am not able to find this number, i can see only an 8 digits number called IVR Account Identification Number in the bottom of page where Loomis branch and interview date info is located...

    Any help is greatly appreciated

  11. Hello,

I am having an interview soon for F2B in Montreal and i read online in a 2012 post http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/376791-montreal-consulate-my-experience/ that no one is allowed inside unless they have "Loomis confirmation number" at the door, how do i get this LOOMIS CONFIRMATION NUMBER?

all i have is the following:

1-A) an original email from the embassy that asked me to login to he site and schedule and interview date, after many frustrating days with their new website, i was finally able to select a date after contacting their support online and over the phone.

1-B) Now, once i go to https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/iv/schedule/xxxxxxxxx I can see my name, passport number, case number, status and loomis location selected. However, it only shows a number called IRV identification number which is 8 digits.

My second question, can i change the courier location from BC to MTL thorough the site or i have to wait after the interview and call Loomis?

Thank you so much in advance

  12. Hello All,

I am F2B ready for Embassy Interview and asked to provide a new I864 by Joint sponsor, Ihave the following questions for I-864 that the joint sponsor will fill out for me, they havent sponsored anyone before and theyre single and not family or household member, but a good friend.

    Question 1:
Part 3: Information on the immigrant you are sponsoring:
I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in part 2:
should my joint sponsor say Yes.

    Question 2:

and then since i am single and the only one immigrating, under Part 3-Number 7: enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this form should be: 1

    Question 3:

Should my father who is the permanent resident sponsoring me under F2B fill out a new i864 since the orginal one filled out and sent to NVC was few years back?

  13. Hi,

I have an immigration Interview in MTL coming up soon and my original passport will expire one day before my interview....

I just became canadian, can i take the canadian one instead since it is a new one?

If yes, will the doctors perform medical exam eventhough the letter shows passport expiring soon "the doctor's website mentions the passport needs to be valid for more than 6 months"

......It is not easy to get the original passport renewed as i will have to go back home and the process will take few weeks and i might miss the interview....

  14. Hello Everyone,

My IV case was reinstated after i wasnt able to attend the first interview due to sickness, now i was emailed by Montreal that i can go and schedule the interview myself, the problem is that they gave me a link that points to NIV section and not IV section, i tried them both all the way to the end and each one gives me different errors. i am not sure if their site is wrong or what, PLEASE HELP ME

    The errors:

The Immigrant Visa case number provided is not ready to schedule an appointment. If you have not received an appointment letter from the National Visa Center (NVC), you can check the status of your IV case at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc.html.

Note: the problem is that the first ongerview was scheduled by NVC but i couldnt go to it due to sickness, but the system now doesnt have any info about me although the MTL consulate did email me the below information!!!

This is what they emailed me:

This office has completed the review of the below-referenced immigrant visa case. You are now ready for an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal, where all interviews for immigration to the US from Canada are processed. This letter provides information on the next steps you must take to continue with your immigrant visa case.

    Schedule your visa interview appointment

Please visit http://canada.usvisa-info.com to obtain information online or via telephone concerning scheduling an interview appointment for you and those family members included in the petition. If you have not previously registered your information and selected a Loomis courier location on this website, please do so now.

You must have the Passport Number, Date of Birth, Nationality, MTL case number, and visa category for each applicant (principal applicant and all family members, including children) ready in order to access the website. When prompted to select “Trip Purpose”, you must choose ‘Permanently Immigrate to the US.’ After entering your information, you will be prompted to select an appointment time for you and your family.
