  1. jsnearline,

The date that the adjustment application was approved.

    Yodrak

My wife was told her AOS was approved within a week of our interview, but we just got the official approval email yesterday. What date do they usually put on the card? Just curious...

My Greencard had the date I entered the US back in May for "Resident Since"... As I was transfered to CSC in December, I had no AOS interview and it was approved in January. I'm confused now. What date is it suppose to have?

  2. Just wanted to wish you guys luck tomorrow for your Infopass appointment and hoping John gets his I-551 stamp in his passport! (F)

No news on this side about our I-90. According to CSC, they're processing I-90s from Dec. 22nd still. I however can not find the date for the I-90s from NBC/MSC... it's not in their online list.

Andy and I are taking a trip up to Vancouver, BC for my birthday in April. If I don't get my new card by then I'll let you all know how things went crossing with a temporary I-551 stamp in my passport.

  3. Updating list and adding new names. If I added your name, could you fill in the blanks and put your name in the right order? It would help a lot to see an average of how long this whole process takes and how many of us are going/have gone through it.

TO ADD YOUR NAME: COPY AND PASTE (including these instructions) AND PUT YOUR NAME IN THE APPROPRIATE PLACE OF WHEN YOU FILED YOUR I-90

  4. On Part 2. Application type.

    1. My status is: (check one) - the answer is "c"

You are conditional if you greencard is only good for 2 years (check the expiry date)

    2. Reason for application (check one) - the answer is "d" (card was issued incorrect information.. etc)

The answers a-c and e-j do not apply to you for this situation.

I believe there is an example form here on VJ for you to look at regarding this too.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding the second part of your question... If your greencard came from NBC, the address you would send it to is this:

    National Benefits Center

    Attn: I-551 Corrections

705B SE Melody Lane, Box 2000

    Lee's Summit, MO 64063

The first page of this thread had the link to the addresses to send to depending on which Service Center (or the National Benefits Center) last dealt with your I-485. This PDF file was moved apparently (I just checked and found the new one) For the info that was on that PDF file, look here

    http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/ne...I-90_050908.pdf

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding thie third part of your question... I would also include 2 passport style pictures. Kezzie got an RFE for that and we think it is because it is the picture that is wrong with the Greencard. I am not sure if you will have biometrics or not as well. I don't think so, well at least with JPatter123 they didn't report one but their greencard "error" is their sex, not their picture.

I would seriously suggest making an Infopass appointment to get the I-551 stamp, however you may need your NOA for the I-90 to get it. Steffi wasn't able to get her I-551 stamp without her NOA. HOWEVER, I just re-read your last post and you got an Approval notice in the mail? If it's not the welcome notice, you might be able to use that instead.

Hope this helps and good luck! (F)

    Hope this helps!

Couldn't edit the last post again.. bleh. Wanted to add, send copies of documents only (except the greencard, that has to be the original).

  5. kearinne I wish everyone that has had an error would post in this link. even ones that have been corrected. I'd like to forward this on to a couple government officials including one to the president of the united states showing the complete inconsistancy in this process and the insanity in the amount of time its taking to get replacements. Its totally inconceivable that people are getting their entire 485 processed in 6 months but it takes more then 3 months or more to re-issue a card.

I also am writing a letter to a few officials on the fact that the USCIS does not pay .50 to get delivery confirmation on all the letters they send out like RFE's and NOA's. Just like not recieving your card in the mail is your fault or the RFE you never knew about now caused a case denial. I don't know if we can get anything done about it but if we don't all start writing letters and making phone calls we never have a chance.

If I knew who to write where it would actually be seen and not thrown in some garbage can before it's even open, I would though I think it would be better if it was coming from my husband since he's the American. I wouldn't even know where to begin. I will look around for addresses but if you have any at hand, feel free to share! I think this whole process is a pain in the rear.

  6. That's awesome Jpatter123!!! Glad to know one of us has gotten their new card!

I too am going to try get my learners permit sometime soon and I've never driven before either. I think my husband feels the same as you! . Good luck to your wife on her permit!

    Updating the list:

  7. See, I think that was part of the problem for me. They wanted to see the NOA for the I-90, which I didn't have. So that's the difference! Only of course you also had to wait like 2 months for your NOA, no? In my case who knwos if I'll ever get it. But I-90 NOA seems to be the key to get the I-551 stamp! Congrats for no hassle. :D

I actually got my NOA 16 days after sending back my card with the I-90. Have you tried calling the mis-information line regarding your NOA? I would think your local office could check up on that somehow and issue you a stamp if you can get the receipt # off the mis-information line...

My I-485 got touched yesterday which confuses the hell out of me. Maybe they're checking if I actually put that I was "female" on the form? It hasn't been transfered anywhere yet but hoping the touch means they're actually doing something for my I-90 and not reversing my approval..

Hope you find out something soon Steffi, you've already been through too much. (F)

  8. No real suggestions other than to just keep your chin up. I too am having no luck in the job department despite applying for jobs I'm quite qualified for if not more so. I also worried about the "authorized to work in the US" part in cover letters. I decided to keep it in because all my job experience is in Canada and it kind of ties it in (why no US experience is in there) saying I'm a new resident to the US but am authorized to work here. I kind of chalk up my lack of luck to not having any US experience and employers being turned off a bit by that. I dunno. Whatever it is, I hope someone will just give me a chance.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and for myself. I haven't itched this bad to work since starting out again after having my daughter.

  9. Well, as some of you know, I had my Infopass appointment today...

I got the I-551 stamp!!!

No hassles, took 10 minutes tops, 20 if you include the waiting. It was kind of funny at first when I said it was because the card said I was male, the Immigration Officer didn't quite hear me right (I think he thought I said something about it being in the mail) but after explaining it again saying "The card said I was male when I'm female..." he said "Ohhhh!" then took my NOA1 for the I-90, scanned it in his computer and asked for my passport. After looking at some stuff on the computer, he told me to hold on a minute while he went and did something. When the guy came back, he handed my back my passport and told me the I-551 stamp in it was good for 6 months and if I don't receive my new corrected card by then to just come back and they'll extend the stamp. I can now work and travel by just showing the stamp. :)

Now to continue waiting for my card to get fixed. :clock: Let's hope it's less than 6 months. Dowtown Portland is a pain to navigate when you don't know it well - almost all 1 way streets!

  10. Each Service Center has their own abbriviation for receipt #'s. This is what I found on the USCIS webpage

LIN = Lincoln, Nebraska or NSC

EAC = St. Albans, Vermont or VSC

    SRC= Dallas, Texas or TSC

WAC= Laguna Niguel, California or CSC

Source: http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/scnational/index.htm just above middle of the page.

Here's hoping we all hear or get something soon regarding our cases.

  11. Haha I'm an idiot. I should have followed my own advice. I'm missing my NOA date!

Good to hear you got a NOA for your I-90 and it means things will go quickly for you Kezzie!

Aussie_Rachel, wow that was quick if you're getting your correct GC in 2-3 weeks! Hope that means they've picked up since Hotairguy and his 9-10 months to get his new one!

  12. Fixing things so they're in the correct order. Please copy/paste the lastest chart when adding your own info, and put it in the correct timeframe. Thanks!

  13. How are you suppose to know if it was returned to them or not? I guess maybe if someone else gets in this situation they could call the 1-800 # that comes with the card and inquire first if the card got returned to the Service Center? On a better note...

I just got my NOA1 for my I-90. This is what it said online when I entered the receipt #:

    Receipt Number: WAC**********

Application Type: I90, APPLICATION TO REPLACE ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD

    Current Status:

Your I90 APPLICATION TO REPLACE ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD was received on January 25, 2006. Your request for a waiver of the filing fee has been granted. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 180 and 200 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

Oddly enough, the actual paper NOA says it was received on January 19th and the notice date is January 27th. Also, they do not state the timeframe (180-200 days) on the paper receipt.

TO ADD YOUR NAME: COPY AND PASTE (including these instructions) AND PUT YOUR NAME IN THE APPROPRIATE PLACE OF WHEN YOU FILED YOUR I-90

  14. Well, this just proves things aren't as simple or straight forward as they seem. Anyone with information about not receiving your greencard and filing in accordance to "b" reasoning, please share your knowledge on this matter. Apparently there's more to the clause "Application Reason “b” (My authorized card was never received)" that's not defined anywhere easily attainable.

  15. I won't need to do this for at least a year (and I'll be lucky to even get my corrected conditional greencard back by then  ) but I thought I'd get a head start so when the time comes I'm not rushing/panicing.

For Part 5 of the Petition to lift conditions on residence, it asks for information about your children... If all my children live in Canada, I still put thier names down with NONE for A# and leave the address blank on the form but should I also include an attachment stating that they live in Canada and that at this time we have no intentions of having them immigrate? Or is this completely uneccessary?

I know it sounds like a dumb question but I don't want to be missing anything relevant when I eventually and acquiring a RFE for it later.

  16. Steffi, if this forum is like another I've used, you need to wait a full 1-2 minutes before posting again. So, just don't post right away and it should work. I may be wrong though as I do not know how they have set up this new forums.

Ok, if my EAD and AP are null and void....

a: How do I show appropriate ID to get a job and/or how do I get my SSN card changed so it doesn't say "Valid for work only with DHS authorization" anymore if I don't have the GC card to show the SS office? What do I tell people now at interviews regarding my being legal to work?

b: I can travel to see my daughter only IF I can get a I-551 stamp?

Can I scream yet? How about we all scream and maybe someone at USCIS will hear us. :ranting:

  17. I don't like the sound of 9-10 months. :( I want to see my family this summer, and it's going to be a real pain in the @$$ if I don't get the correct card by then (considering how much trouble I had before). Ugh!

    Thanks for sharing hotairguy.

Can you not make an Infopass and see about getting an I-551 stamp? I'm pondering doing that next week as I'm all confused about whether or not I can still use my EAD and AP which are both good for a year. The only reason I haven't yet is because I don't know if you need a NOA for the I-90 to do it...
