  1. Ok wow, more people than I thought have cats that do the same thing...

We have had to baby proof all the cabinets for him too. If we didn't lock all the cabinets we'd never find him. He's also managed to open the freezer though we're not too sure how he did that and he hasn't tried again - we think he jumped for the top, missed and grabbed the freezer door on the way down.

He's also taken the sheet off the bed (without disturbing the blanket above), steals shoes to chew on (we solved that one by giving him rawhide to chew on and replace it before it starts breaking up). The last straw that made us go with rawhide was when I caught him chewing on one of my sandals. I took it away and he made a grab for the other and ran.

I'm thinking of writing a children's book about all his antics.

Oh did I mention that he comes if you whistle? I think my cat has a dog complex... :P

  2. tomali_dryer.JPG

I'm telling you, I can't do a load of laundry without this happening! :P

I take out one load from the dryer, grab the next from the washer and *POOF* our cat Tomali appears in the dryer before I can blink.

I knew I shoulda named him Loki when we first got him...

Still can't help but love the little mischief maker... :luv:

Hope you don't mind. I changed the format so it fit better.

ps: yes I know about my filing date vs my CG approval date - been covered in another thread.

  4. My husband and I actually met on a MUD called Dark and Shattered Lands. I don't play much anymore but he does.

We do play WoW together however on the server Cenarius.

Highest lvl char. I got is a lvl 55 draenei mage named Xalyna. I also got a lower lvl human priest, human warlock, night elf druid and a draenei paladin. I made an orc hunter I think on another server but forget which one... My husband just got into the pvp part of WoW in battlegrounds on Cenarius with his human warlock Orynic. I'm still too chicken yet to try pvp. :P

  5. Well, I went this morning to do my biometrics. Nothing special... They just took my appointment letter same as when I got them done before - finger prints + picture. Dates weren't even mentioned so here's hoping for the best out of this.

Oh! Maguilart, they were playing Peter Pan in the second waiting room (I guess for any kids) - when saw tinkerbell it made me think of you! :P

  6. Hi Kearinee,

I just noticed in your timeline that you have received your conditional GC on Jan 12, 2006. It means that your 90 day window to file for I-751 is not yet opened. If I calculated right, it is not until Oct 14, 2007.

Anyway, I'm kind of surprised that you've already received NOA. I think it is a good sign though. Usually, USCIS returns the application without issuing NOA if it is filed too early. Sooner or later, the USCIS will raise the application fee by a lot, so I hope they don't return your application.

If they issue the new green card for you, let us know the good news. Good luck.

I decided not to worry about that whole thing regarding the date. I already did an I-90 and I mentioned in my I-90 that the date my greencard expired was 2 years from the day I moved to the US not the day I got approved, this on top of them having my wrong gender. They did not change my new greencard's expiry date so why fight it? The application says "90 days from when your card expires" so that was the date I worked with. If they bring it up, I'll wait and re-apply. If not.... well it was their screw up from the start so if they give me my 10 year, I'm taking it. If I didn't file, according to my conditional greencard I'd be out of status.

  7. Haven't posted in a while. Just wanted to post an update for any who remember me and may be wondering where I'm at.

    04/09/07 - Filed I-751 with NSC

    04/30/07 - NOA issued

    05/15/07 - Biometrics letter sent

05/21/07 - NOA and Biometrics letter received

    06/02/07 - Upcoming 8am Biometrics appointment

Do I dare jinx myself and hope for a correct 10 year GC after my botched conditional one? :P

Watch me get an RFE...

  8. It's been a while since I last logged on this board so for those who know who I am, Hi! I'm doing good, just been real busy.

Ok on to my problem, well more like my husband's problem.

My husband's computer fried and we had to get him a new one. Unfortunatly we can't get Microsoft Office 2003 to activate on his new computer. It tells him that he's already at his max (of 1 computer) to activate. His old computer is dead. We managed to save the hard-drive but we do not know how to de-activate/re-activate Office onto his new computer. Even when he accesses his old hard-drive he can't activate his old Office that is on there. So, my question for you guru's is...is there any way activate his old Office 2003 on his new computer or go about this without having to buy a whole new Office?

If this is worded poorly, I apologize. I just don't know how else to explain this situation.

  9. Well....

It was pouring rain just before I started my test but as the instructor got into my car the rain stopped. I was so nervous my stomach hurt and I was tense as a bow string. Most of it was routine things, following the road, obeying stop signs and speed limit, checking mirrors and intersections. In the middle of the test though he had me pull over to the side of the road and back up 2 car lengths. I had never done this before and my husband said he never had to do that for his so I was completely unprepared and muddled through it. I did got through the rest of the test and...

    ....

    .....

    I passed!

I'm now a licenced driver of the United States!

Beware Oregon drivers! I'm now on the road on my own!

  10. Good luck!! You'll do fine!

Well, you answered my question being a Canadian and moving to Oregon - you still need to take a driving test. I too am moving to Oregon soon and was wondering if I could just trade in my Saskatchewan liceanse - guess not. Did you drive in Oregon this whole time on your Canadian liceanse? Would they let me take the driving test as soon as I get there on my K1 visa? Or do I need to wait for my green card?

MarilynP is correct if you read her post, I never drove in my life til I moved here to Oregon. I've been afraid of driving, kind of like how my mom was. I even refused a car on my 16th birthday (oh so long ago) if I just got my licence, that's how afraid I was. Luckily I have a supportive, encouraging husband who was very patient with me while he taught me here. I've had my permit and been driving to and from work with him beside me since May.

If you already have your licence, you should be fine. You can always check with your local DMV when you move down just to be sure but even if you had to do a test, I'm sure with years of driving it'd be no problem.

Well, 14 hours to go! Thanks everyone for your wishes of luck, we'll see tomorrow if all this luck helps! (F)

  11. Well, tomorrow at 1pm PST I'm taking my driver's test. I never thought I'd be driving period, I'm kinda mixed between excited and extremely nervous. It just figures too that after months without a single rain fall, tomorrow is forcasted for rain. :crying: I have the worst luck!

So, wish me luck and pray I don't crash. If I don't post back about my result by Friday, I died in a fiery crash on the roads of Portland, OR. :P

  12. After phoning in an inquiry last month and getting an email back 2-3 weeks later telling me I "had to keep waiting" and no other information, I got this today when checking the status of my I-90 online!

    Case Status

    Receipt Number: WAC**********

Application Type: I90, APPLICATION TO REPLACE ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD

    Current Status:

On September 12, 2006, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

I want to get excited but waiting on actually getting it and seeing if something new is wrong now. :P

I'm still in disbelief - it's been so long.

  13. It wouldn't be Ottawa, for sure, since you had not entered the USA at that point. It was the place they stamped your passport. DO you have that handy? In Portland, were you processed, or was it a case of simply travelling through the secure section of the airport to your next flight.

Actually, they stamped my passport and inspected me in Ottawa.

I just unpacked a bunch of stuff to find my copy of my I-485 and I put "Chicago via Ottawa, Canada" I had no idea at the time if this was correct but I got approved. I just seriously want a straight answer to put from now on.. Ottawa or Chicago.

  14. I'm moving in 3 weeks and want to get a head start on my AR-11, filling it out now and sending it the day I move. I seem to be stuck on my Port of Entry. Do I put Ottawa, ON Canada (where I went through customs) or Chicago, IL (the first US city I entered - lay over) or Portland, OR (my final destination). I can't even remember what I put on other forms.

All I know is that this better not slow down anything else. I'm still waiting for my damn correct Greencard. :(

  15. Just wanted to share a couple of pictures from our 1 year wedding anniversary on July 4th. Still can't believe it's been a wwhole year! We stayed at the River Place hotel in downtown Portland, right on the waterfront. We had a private view of the fireworks from the hotel's rooftop courtyard reserved for a minimum amount of guests only, and the courtyard was directly across from the barge that had the fireworks. It was beautiful! We only got to stay a couple of nights in the hotel because of cost (was pretty expensive for the room we had) and having to go back to work but we had a wonderful, romantic time. (L):luv:

    Anyway, here are the pictures:

  16. Don't worry yourself too much. Things have a way of working themselves out if they're meant to be. Take my Andy. He didn't have a job til 1 month before my K1 interview, mind you we had a co-sponsor but it wasn't needed. We got through the AOS process with just 1 glitch (my greencard saying I'm male but that's in the process of being fixed) and now he's working part time, going to school part time while I work full time.

Point being, at the beginning of this whole process - we didn't seem to stand a chance in hell, but we managed to get through this trial called immigration. If you two are both strong in your will and your love, I have faith you two will manage to get through this as well.

    Good luck. (F)

  17. Your flight ticket needs to match your passport though or you will have problems.

I actually flew twice to Canada (Ottawa and Vancouver) with my passport in my maiden name and my US documents in my married name (specifically AP and later I-551 stamp -due to greencard error) and my airline ticket has always been in my married name. I just brought my marriage certificate and they let me through just fine.

  18. Looks like you and I have our own club, the non-NOA club! I doubt anyone else will want to join. :(

She also told me that I'd have to have an emergency reason for getting a stamp (at the discretion of the officer at the D.O.). Maybe I'm just peevish today, but on principle, why should I have to have an emergency reason to get a stamp that shows my status if they can't get their paperwork in order in any sort of a timely manner? Isn't having been through the interview and being granted approval enough to get me a stamp if they can't provide me a card?

Of course, I'm trying to make sense of this and we all know that's a little silly...

Oh well, I've stopped crying today and am back to mad. ;)

I'm sorry you're dealing with this also but if I may suggest - and if you have the time, DO make an Infopass appointment to speak with an officer. Bring your Welcome to America Letter and/or the letter your greencard came with and ask for an I-551 stamp. If they ask why, tell them you were approved a greencard but when you got it, there was an error and that you filed an I-90 as you should but you need an I-551 stamp to prove your status whether it's in regards to work or travel. If they ask you for the NOA on the I-90 tell them you never received it and that when you called, the person you talked to from whatever service center told you that they do not issue I-90 NOAs. Your district office should have proof of your status with just your AOS receipt # which should say you were approved. That is more than enough proof of your status to them and requesting a stamp so YOU yourself have physical proof of that status until you get your corrected card should not even be an issue.

I'd also call the Service Center you sent your greencard and I-90 to and ask again about the NOA. If they say "again" that they do not issue NOAs for I-90 - ask them for their name. Give that person's name to your District Office (if they ask for the NOA) and see what happens.

    Whatever happens, good luck. (F)

  19. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm still in the boat with you guys. Since going for my infopass appointment (as my RFE requested) back in April and giving them my passport photos and signing some strange form that I got told I should have just had another biometrics for (but they told me they'd send the form anyway since that's what the RFE asked for), and the Portland Office sending in the RFE for me... I've gotten 1 email at the end of April saying they got my RFE and nothing since. My I-551 stamp expires in August (I got it in February at my first infopass appt. about this whole situation) and am waiting til then to check up on it seeing as my district office could probably find out more than me. I'm afraid if I inquire myself it'll put another hold on things.

Anyway, that's my I-90 update (which isn't much of an update at all :P ). I'm staying optimistic that I'll hear something soon. Good luck to the rest of you who have been with me through this from the beginning, before me and after (especially Steffi and Kezzie). I know it's a trying time, just keep on fighting. (F)

  20. congrats :) thats so exciting. I can't wait to get my own car. We both are working on that here, it will be a day of rejoicing let me tell you. It's a nice car and it's white. I don't know why but white cars to me always look so crisp and clean. :)

    Thanks everyone!

Actually CanGal, the car is a light silver (my favourite colour). What I found amusing about the Dodge Intrepid is that when reading the owner manual, this car is made in Canada (like me lol!) and the Dodge symbol on the hood (the ram) is my zodiac sign (aries). I guess it was meant to be!:yes:

I hope you can get your own car soon CanGal. My husband had to use part of his college fund for mine and it makes me feel so guilty (but I will be paying him back eventually). We needed a second car though with both of us working and my husband taking part time classes as well.

  21. Well, I still don't have my license... I've had my permit for almost 2 months now but practicing has been on and off because of my husband's and my work schedules. My husband got a new car (2006 Hyundai Tiburon) back in April and instead of trading in his 2000 Elantra, he gave it to me. Unfortunatly at our last oil change for the Elantra we found out there may run into problems with the transmision so we decided to trade it in now before we ran into any major problems with it.

So yesterday, I actually got to look around and pick out my very own first car! I am now a proud owner of a 2000 Dodge Intrepid with 56k miles on it. I think we got a good deal for it too. Now all I need to do is get used to driving a much longer car than an Elantra. :P

Anyway, just wanted to share my news with everyone. I was bragging about my new car at work yesterday too. I'm just so excited!

    This is my new car:
