  1. I am nearsighted and I am bad blind and a sorry case when I don't have my eyeglasses or contacts on. I have been dealing with this since I was 17 and I am just getting sick and tired of it. Fiance asked me if I wanted to go for lasik eye surgery and I honestly have no clue if it's any good at all. Anybody tried it?

Also, I have a scar on my left eye - an accident that happened when I was 9 that almost left me blind. I am just a lil nervous.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have not tried it but I have been considering laser eye surgery for some time now. I've been wearing glasses since 3rd grade (8 years old) and currently wear contacts during the day and glasses at night.

I would talk with your eye doctor on whether or not it is even an option for you. There are quite a few criteria that you should meet before even being eligible, one of those being a stable prescription. My husband also wear glasses but he is not an ideal candidate for eye surgery because his prescription keeps changing, getting progressively worse. My eyes however have only had a .25 difference in the last 15 years so I believe I am a better candidate. I also know that there is a degree of poor vision that can't be fully corrected with surgery and you will still need to wear corrective lenses.

Again I would urge you to talk to your eye doctor, even get a second opinion if they try convince you too fast that you are an ideal candidate (my husband's first eye doctor said he was ideal and we found out he was wrong and just wanted the $$$) and read up on the subject because though you may temporarily have better vision for a while with laser eye surgery, the results are never going to be permanent and if it done wrong it can make things worse for your eyes. They remove a thin layer of your lens that won't grow back and if they make a mistake it may be irreversable.

  2. You newbs need to go more old school, like MUDs. (played them from 1995 - 2002)

    (we also predate "n00b")

Dunno why but I just could never get into EQ or WoW or FFXI.

NEWBS AKA N00b HAHAHA I remember Muds!!! LOL old school ROCKS!!

ah, the good ole days back when 1200 baud modem was considered fast and bbses were the only way to "chat"

Anyone remember a game called IC (Infinity Complex)? Damn the spanish Inquisition!

  3. If you have lost the card, submit a photocopy of the receipt for your Form I-90, "Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card"

This would be nice but I was told by 3 different people, during 3 different calls to USCIS that I-90's with reason "D" do not receive a receipt notice. I never did receive one. I sure wish I had a receipt notice, they give them out for just about everything else you do...

First off I'd like to say I partially understand your situation as I had the same issue with my Conditional Greencard. I too was mistakenly put as "male" (that wasn't the only mistake but you can read my timeline foe that story :P). However I DID and still do have a copy of my NOA for submitting my I-90. Why you never received one is probably because they never received it in the first place, you should have had one and you DO get one.

Second you are doing what is best and going to an Infopass appointment. Sometimes these appointments feel redundant or pointless but you can get information there you can not over the phone with the retarded people who answer the USCIS phonelines. I had my passport stamped 2ce before I got my new "correct" greencard. Thankfully when I filed to remove conditions they did not repeat their mistake or I'd have gone ballistic on their asses.

Bring EVERYTHING you have regarding filing your I-90 to your appointment. They may not want to look at it but if they do, you have it ready for them. If they tell you to redo the I-90 I highly suggest you have it signed for upon delivery by their office so you at least have proof they did get it. Oh and get the officer's name you talk to at the appointment and keep that as reference in case you have to deal with this longer. Be polite even if they are not but do voice your concerns. Also think of and write down any questions you may have for them (I find I forget half I wanna say by the time I'm face to face with an officer) then write down the answers as you get them. This way you can go home and not fret that you forgot to ask something or you forgot what they told you.

Whatever happens I wish you the best of luck. - From one "male" (haha right) Canadian to another. (F)

  4. This kid in high school kept putting the juke box at a coffee shop we hung out at to play this song over and over again. I went insane. I literally unplugged the juke and told him never to play this song again. When he looked all mad at me I threw him a loonie (yes canadian dollar) and told him to put anything else on then plugged back in the juke box and sat down. (could only find the live version, not the one on the juke)

  5. My husband got me into WOW when I first moved here. Currently we're in a starting raiding Guild on Cenarius server called Draconica, both of us officers (Xalyna and Lejian). We do Kara runs every Tuesday/Wednesday night but many in the guild aren't raiders, we're pretty casual and dont force anyone to raid with us. If anyone's interested come check us out.

    http://draconica.epicmount.com/ is our website.

  6. I just found out someone online I play WoW with is actually in the Philippines. When he heard I was half filipino, he said "Kababayan" and when we said goodbye he said "Mabuhay Pinoy Astig" (sorry for spelling mistakes - going by memory)

I tried looking online on a tagalog/english dictionary and all I got for the first one was "townmate" and the second when I looked up the words seperately I got "long live" "filipino"? and "cool"

Anyone able to translate that better so it makes more sense? Direct translation always sounds so ackward. I'm so embarrassed not even knowing partial tagalog :(

  7. I know an IO said we were approved as od April 18th but I couldn't truly believe it til I had some sort of confirmation and here it is! Husband got the email today!

Good luck to everyone else waiting!

  8. congratulations!!!!!!!!!

But why aren't you able to see it online we are the 29th today so you should have received the card by now????

You'd think that'd be the case but the IO said it takes them a "while" to update the website and that I "should" get the card any day now... It's USCIS, since when did they ever get anything done in a normal timeframe!

I'm just wondering why they gave me a stamp for 1 year and 4 months.... seems a bit odd... is it a sign I gotta file another I-90?

  9. I went today to the Portland OR USCIS office to get an extention stamp and was told I was approved on April 18th! (The website still says my file hasn't been touched since April 3rd) They still stamped my passport and though the IO said she'd only put a stamp in til June 2008 since I should get the card any day now, but when I looked at it later written on the stamp the extention is til August 28th 2009. She also took my expired greencard saying I didn't need it and it was theirs now.

So, yeah looks like my I-751 is approved! I'm not fully relaxing til I get it in the mail though or at least a confirmation email about it. :P

  10. Hey, I remember you too! I'm one of the 2004/2005 veterans that still sorta hangs around here!

Anyone seen Smoochies? I believe that's the gal/couple my husband and I met going to our K1 Interview in Montreal way back in May 2005. Wonder how they're doing...

  11. kearinne, you mentioned sending your passport in for that stamp, can you mail these in for that? Thought you had to make a trip to your assigned field office. Not that I would trust them with any important documents, especially through the mails.

Not sure what's going on now between the USA and Canada, been driving up there all of my life, just like driving to the next town. Except for having a plant in the vehicle, they are real touchy about that, with the winds, why aren't they stopping nature from blowing seeds back and forth across that man made line?

No, what I mean is I need to mail in my passport to renew the passport. The passport expires this year and If I mail it in, I dont know how long it'll sit in Canada til they send me my new one. So, do I get the stamp now, hope I dont need it and mail in my passport to renew or do I send in the passport and hope to god I get it back in less than a month?

Oh and I can't drive to where I travel... My daughter is in Ottawa, Canada and I'm across country in Oregon, US... over 3k miles. Need to fly. Without passport it makes things a bit difficult. Also I'm wanting to change jobs soon... without extention stamp in a passport (or new greencard) dont think I can do that.

  12. I noticed several folks here have said they filed their N-400 and think maybe that has something to do with their I-751 being moved to CSC (or wherever we think they went!). My husband hasn't filed his N-400 yet, but it seems a lot of us in about the same time frame were touched and moved together. All we've received so far is just that one email, nothing like some of you got. In any case he'll be filing for naturalization shortly, as he is also severly limited as to where he can travel because of where his passport is from....

I don't think applying for the N-400 has anything to do with that.

I have to agree. I never filed N-400 but my case got transferred somewhere... hopefully not a new black hole! :P

At any rate I'm hoping to god I hear something soon, I kind of have a conundrum... . I need to renew my passport but my extension letter expires next month so I'm afraid if I send in my current passport now it won't get back in time to be stamped. So, this means I need to get a stamp in my current passport, but if I get the stamp in my current passport I can't send it in with my application to be renewed because I'd need it with me as it would be my only proof of legallity to live and work here... BUT if I don't send in my passport to be renewed somewhat soon, it'll expire and will be no good anyway, stamp or not and then where does that leave me...

Please USCIS help me out here! :girlwerewolf2xn:

  13. So, my husband got this in am email...

Ummmm thats all good and stuff that something is finally happening but what office did it get transfered to? I am hoping this is good news but am confused on where now to check processing times and such. Go USCIS, can we be any more vague?

  14. This is my Tomali. Don't be fooled by his cute poses, my husband relates him to Sparta Cat from a video posted here a while back! Oddly enough he's only Sparta cat to him.. not me.
