  1. Wow. You have done excellent. It has been a while since I submitted my documents to USCIS so my memory kst not as clear on that portion as it is for NVC. I can't think of anything else that should be submitted. If anyone else reading this has suggestions please chime in. Some of the documents you are sending to USCIS will need to be submitted to the National Visa Center after you petition is approved.

  2. Thank you. Surprisingly the Consulate didn't ask for any other documents. NVC notified me the case was complete. Shortly after that an email was received from NVC the income requirements were not met and that we should get joint sponsor or complete another Affidavit of Support. Completed a new affidavit and brought it to the interview along with an updated paystub to support the income. The Consulate approved our case without looking at the updated information. I wonder of they verified the updated income on their own.

  3. Try to provide all documents to NVC at one time. They will use the last scan date to determine when they should review the package.

Some of the documents I provided to NVC:

    1. Attestation of Birth from the National Commission Office and the Statutory Declaration of Age from the Higher Court Judicial Division (this was provided instead of the birth certificate normally seen in the US.

    2. Medical, dental, and Vision Insurance for Nigerian spouse (obtained in 2014 during open enrollment, no SSN needed as of yet, marriage certificate required)

    3. Screenshots of email communications from from the first time we started communicating (NVC never knew the details of our conversation)

    4. Photos with spouse, family and friends.

    5. Tax transcripts and pay stubs from Employment.

    6. Passport photos were never the exact required size but close.

**Renew the passport if the Nigerian passport has less than 6 months before expiring. Take the old and new passport to the medical exam and visa interview.**

**Estimated cost of the medical exam paid $300 USD or 65, 000 Naira**

**Lagos Airport asked for me the signed Yellow Fever card.**

  4. Visa approved June 18. Yesterday CEAC status was ready. Earlier Today CEAC status was Administrative Processing. I just checked again the status is showing as Ready again. It's confusing but I will try to check status once a day instead of multiple times a day. That is too much of an emotional roller coaster for me. Lol! I'm so glad I found Visa Journey. This websites helps keep me sane! Thanks to everyone who contributes to this website.

  5. Hello everyone. I spoke to my husband. He said he has never done this before and didn't know the consequence. He said something about it being hard for Nigerian's to have international funds deposited into their account without large fees and from my understanding something about domicile (but I could be wrong about the last part) He thought it may be easier and less costly for the money to be deposited into the US account. I explained to him how to navigate Visa Journey so he could see all the comments for this post. He now has a better understanding of what's going on. Thanks for explaining everything. I learned new things myself about the process. You all were very helpful.

  6. I know the reason he is in need of the money is true, he it trying to get the money for his airplane ticket to the US. During our conversation I gave him the option of having a money order sent to the house. He then explained the person who is trying to send money is not in the US so I told him to send the money to Nigeria via Western Union. I'm my opinion that's when things became heated (I was getting ready for work, I'm not a morning person and I hadn't had my coffee). He said the people would like to send it to my bank account. I never found out how they were going to send it because I knew I was not going to give any of my bank account information. He asked me if I trust him, I do. I Dont trust or know the people making the deposit. I also totally agree the money can be deposited into his Nigerian bank account or his sister's bank account if she has one. There is no reason for me to be involved. Since our discussion become so heated and he seemed as if he didn't understand my reason for my decision he is aware when his is in the US we will not have joint bank accounts. My heart is heavy over this. That's for sure.

Hmmm, I thought I removed the quote. I'm still learning how to use that. Lol

  7. My husband is the person who mentioned the idea to me. I immediately said no and the conversation became heated. As much as I try not to in my heart I question if he is clueless, thinks I'm clueless or the word I would prefer to never use when speaking of him but the word starts with a s---. To be filled with so much joy because we made it this far but now feeling this way...I can't even describe how I feel.

  8. Thank you for your response. My husband and I both have access to this Visa Journey account (yes it's a genuine poster). The reason for the post is to get opinions from people who don't know us personally because I wanted unbiased views. I appreciate everyone who gave an opinion.

  9. My Nigerian spouse has a sister that has people who owe her money. The Nigerian spouse is in need of money to buy an airplane ticket to the US. The Nigerian spouse would like to release the US bank account information so the money can be deposited. The money is going to be deposited from other places, for example Vietnam and I'm not sure of the other locations. The money would then be withdrawn from the US spouse bank account so the money can be taken to Nigeria on the next visit. What are your thoughts? Be kind and honest. I already have my decision made but I want to receive other peoples opinion.

  10. Looking for cooling devices sounds great. I am so glad I asked this question. We have a lot of preparation to do. It’s a good thing I have natural hair, I will keep wetting my afro puff to keep cool. I had a battery operated fan last time I went to Nigeria. Somehow it broke when I returned to the states. I will buy another one. You're right, I’m already thinking about what to wear the day of the interview. I want to be comfortable with lightweight clothing.

  11. I am actually nervous now and I have never been nervous to travel. This would be my 3rd visit. The interview will be the longest time we would be apart but in the same area. To think about relieving myself in an area in the parking lot...OMG....I'm freaking out. I try not to use the facilities at work. Jiminy Cricket, there is a lot of thinking to do. Plus, if the temperature is above 80 or 85 I need the A/C or my attitude slowly starts to change. I'm trying not to freak out but I'm laughing at myself because I'm FREAKING OUT. LOL! I'm also thinking about how upset I would be if I’m needed at the interview but wasn’t there. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

  12. Dwheels 76 you have given me excellent advice. Sitting waiting for hours for the interview approval, it would be easy to take a picture with a cell phone and not know it's illegal. Don't people make movies about that type of thing? Leaving the US, going to another country and getting in trouble for something they take for granted in the US...WOW! You are helpful to so many people. Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it.
