And you're letting this stop your plans? Just book the trip, if the appointment arrives go to the center with your flight details before or after and explain why it was missed.

Same exact thing I’ll be doing. I planned a trip for us in April and it’s literally Friday to Monday, four days, to Mexico City. If it falls on those dates then I’ll have my husband go in a few days before. My dad has actually just walked in and gotten his biometrics done when he didn’t receive his biometric notice for renewal of GC. Since they already had him in the system and he explained the situation they let him through.

  2. I know I shouldn’t talk politics on here to make us more nervous but I can’t talk to anyone else about it. This is in regard to immigration policies constantly changing or government trying to change them. A lot is just talk but I just read on Reuters about Trumo administration wanting to delay or not approve residency based off use of government aid. The only aid we received was for health insurance for about six months and it was a subsidy because we didn’t even have medi-caid or Medicare. I just read that he referred to food stamps, and health insurance subsidies provided by the affordable care act. Well, we paid $200 monthly for our health insurance and the government subsidized $150 so obviously I’m all panicked about it. I just wish we could all have our spouses with their citizenship already :( end rant! Sorry guys!

  3. Does anyone know if we need to carry around the original extension letter? I’ve made copies in case it gets lost or my husband gets his wallet stolen.

Also, his passport will be expiring soon too since his was only for three years. He is a Mexican citizen. I will make an appointment for him to renew but I wonder if they’ll revoke his old one? It’s just that that one has the k1 and all of that good stuff. Does anyone have any details on this too? Thank you all for everything <3

Yes, there are a ton of cases where approvals are taking longer than 12 months. Looking at some of the 2016 threads in this forum, there are still many people waiting for approvals. It looks like CSC has a longer backlog than VSC. I think I have read that CSC is taking up to 14 months (or longer).

I am the US citizen but my parents are still solely residents. Further, my dad sent in his I-90 to renew his GC nine months ago and just now got his new GC. I remember I kept telling my dad all will be fine before he received it lol and now I’m the one anxious about it taking long for us with the I-751 for my husband.

Guys, don't forget to file i865 from your Usc spouse! I was not aware and its more than 30 days from moving. What I did was, attached the form i865 together with ar11 that I filed online right when I moved, and a cover letter explaining why it was late. I sent the forms package via certified mail with return receipt requesting for uscis signature. It took them a week and half to sent my Usc spouse a notification by letter. The Ar11 can be downloaded online or just print the email confirmation. Better late than never. There are two service centers,  Texas and vermont for different states, check out this link. https://www.uscis.gov/i-865

Oh thanks for the info but my sponsor for my petition is my best friend and he hasn’t moved. That got lm is for sponsors game of address (the I-865)

You will be sent an extension letter of one year for his Green Card, so you'll be fine! If your ROC isn't processed by his birthday then bring the letter, his Green Card, your marriage certificate, and all other documentation received during ROC with you to the airport. Some people have trouble at POE's because of IO's with ego's giving you a hard time, but technically and legally you are allowed to travel out of the country with your extension letter and expired green card. Also the one year extension letter would apply to his employer as well.

Thank you for the reassurance! I know how IOs can get but I also understand it’s their job. My husband is from Tijuana, Mexico and we reside in San Diego just across the border. We go about once a month to TJ and luckily never have a hard time but I’m prepared to take them on with all our documents lol.

My window opened up on Dec 29, but we were traveling for most of December and could only start gathering evidence on Jan 2.

This is such a Deja Vu... Gathering papers and stressing over the number of pages and what should be stapled and what should be paper clipped.

Honestly, after two years of using Fahrenheit, feet and pounds I think we all deserve expedited treatment :)

Lol I still get super nervous and unfortunately over analyzing of course doesn’t help me. I keep avoiding reading what everyone sent just so I don’t panic. We’ve done this already a few times lol so this time shouldn’t be different. I hope we all receive our NOA1s soon!

  9. I mailed our package on Monday 01/08/2018 to the CSC. Luckily, we live in San Diego so it arrived by the Wednesday and I check my bank account this morning and saw that they took out the money yay! I hope we all receive the NOA1s fairly soon. I want my hubby and I to travel domestically for his birthday, a few days before his Greencard expires 03/29/2018. This way we can tread cautiously. I hope his employer doesn’t give us a hard time once they catch on the GC expiration. They caught on a month after his EAD expired and luckily we had his GC already lol. Good luck to all of us! Hopefully next year our spouses can easily naturalize and all this BS immigration processes will be over.

  10. Hello everyone! I have a question about this DS-160 form. My fiance doesn't know any English so I'm confused as to how he can fill this out. Can the language be changed or is it possible for me to do it for him ?

You can help him fill it out by creating the account for him and you filling out all the information and translating it for him if you have any questions. Just Skype with him and ask him the questions and you fill it out :D

The form may be available in your fiance's language though. Try and find that option.

    Good luck!

  11. Was this for the interview?

It could literally be anything so first of all both of you need to calm down because it could be the most minor thing.

They made my fiancé fly back all the way to another state for a second interview all because the consul who interviewed him, forgot to swear him in!!!!!!!! We wasted another $500 dollars all because of that. It was such BS but once he was there and got swore in, they processed his visa for next day and gave it to him there at the consulate. Either way it was messed up and like I said, they could call her in for any minor thing or anything at all. Be prepared but also don't be afraid. They also want to intimidate you because they might feel you are lying and will purposely make you nervous. Don't let them get to your brain!

  12. Does anyone know how/where you can file complaints related to an embassy? We have applied twice for a B1/B2 visa for my husband's brother (my hubby is a K-1 holder). We wanted him to be the best man in our wedding ceremony, which is planned for the end of this month, but we didn't want to buy a plane ticket until they approved his visa. So he went a couple weeks ago to interview for the visa and the consular gave him some trouble because there wasn't an ink signature on the letter that I wrote for him (I signed it and scanned it to him). However, they told him it would be approved and kept his passport and said come back in two days to pick up your visa. At this point he told us it was approved so we purchased a plane ticket for 2 weekends later. When he went back to get the passport and visa, the consular told him they changed their mind and needed more evidence. I attempted to email more evidence on his behalf to the embassy using the email address they listed on their website. The email never went through, though, apparently. When he arrived the following day with more evidence, the consular refused to see him and eventually told him he needed to reapply altogether, because he was rejected.

So we spent the money to re-apply and submitted his application again and scheduled another interview. This time we sent him with all sorts of documents, including the plane tickets we purchased, the wedding invitation, copies of mine and my husband's passports, letters from his employer and his school, as well as an additional letter from me asking them to contact me if anything else was needed, because we would happily supply any documentation to keep us from losing this $2000 plane ticket and the best man at our wedding ceremony. In the end, the consular acknowledged that there was more than enough evidence but told him that he thought he didn't have strong enough ties to Malawi (i.e. a wife and kids) or anyone powerful to vouch for him (keep in mind the man in the office next door vouched for him, and we had letters from his employer and college. When we appealed to our friend at the embassy to look into it, he said the consular told him that he didn't believe that I wrote the letters, and that my husband forged them.

Also keep in mind this same consular granted my husband's K-1 visa a couple months ago with no trouble, and even wished him well and had extensive conversations with him, giving him marriage advice, etc.

So essentially, I've had to cancel plane tickets and hotel reservations, not to mention we're less than 3 weeks away from our wedding and the best man isn't able to come. I've lost around $1700, simply because the consular mislead us and then decided to hold some unknown, untrue, unprovable grievance against us. I'm livid.

Where can we file complaints? If they embassy has done this to him, I'm sure it's happened to others. I've had so many problems with them saying one thing and doing another. They rescheduled my husband's K-1 interview 3 times and then promised him his visa would be printed for 3 days in a row without actually doing it. Who can we contact about these things??

I had a very similar experience with my husband's K1 visa. I wrote about it on my timeline if you would like to read about it. I am only on here very quick tonight but once I get time again I will check up. I too was going to file a complaint and actually posted about it on the US department of State's Facebook page where a woman with a similar situation also commented on my post. Honestly, the U.S. is our great country but they are out of control in their embassy policies and the way they treat others. We all have human rights and playing around with our emotions is truly messed up and should not be allowed.

  13. Congrats...I'm this situation myself my husband went to his interview in 6/16/15 and the CO ask him some questions and the said congratulations your approved...but know I have called the Juarez consul and they advised me that he has been sent a letter for a follow up second interview in Juarez again...we are scared, frustrated , if he was approved at interview why would he need another one , he has submitted everything , waiver approved , affidavit , birth records of our kids , marriage certificate and court documents of a misdemeanor case , I'm so confused so know we are waiting for a instruction letter...:cry::cry:

Hi! I have no idea but usually it's not even a grave problem from what I have read. For me, they waited a week until they called me and then he went to the interview and they gave him the visa there at the embassy the next day but he did have to fly back. Have you had any update on your case? Do not get scared because your case is impeccable if the record is clean! Mine was as well even though we had those tiny red flags that ended up not even being a big deal at the end of it. I do hope that you get your case resolved soon and are with your hubby asap!! :D

I am married now and we just sent in our AOS on Monday and now we must wait

  14. I just want to make sure I am clear about the medical examination and name change.

My husband took his medical examination at the embassy but they did not give him any shots therefore he must get his here, right? Anyways, do we get those done before sending in our AOS package and if so how? If not, do we send in the package and wait to get the notification about going to see the civil surgeon??

Also, my husband and I have changed our names since we married. We both had two second last names and now just have his and have of course kept our first and middle names. Now that we are filing our the AOS do we fill out everything with the new information of our names?

    for example:

Before we filled out our application with the names Frida S. S. I And his Ricardo A. E. C. each of the initials representing names. Now I am just Frida S. E. (adopting his last name) and he is Ricardo A. E. dropping his second last name.

Please, any help and guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

  15. How much is the duplicate and where can it be ordered?? I am in the same situation and am having trouble getting off work during the business hours to call. Sorry your in your situation, it is frustrating.

The duplicate would be $405 and it can be ordered on the USCIS website here: http://www.uscis.gov/i-824just read the instructions

To answer your other question: I just took the copy of the email I received from USCIS to the interview and the first NOA1 to the interview and they didn't even ask for it because they also have it themselves on file or else they wouldn't grant an interview knowing that we weren't approved for the I-129f. Don't worry :D!!

I am definitely going to take the route of using the emails and confirmation page from USCIS about my approval of the I-129f and send that in. I will also try calling USCIS once again and speak to a secondary customer service rep to try and get the NOA2 as well.

Here is a thread I found about our situation.

And thank you all for all the help, once again!!

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/542359-aos-noa2-issue/

Oh and here's one more thread as well http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/323385-filing-for-aos-with-lost-noa2/

  16. Once my fiancé enters the country and we marry we will file for AOS as soon as possible. My question is, does the National visa Center handle AOS or who does this because I want to know who to contact for a question. The question and situation is as follows: we were approved for our fiancé petition on February 20th 2015 and never received our NoA2 letter in the mail. I keep calling to complain and they just now responded that I have to pay to receive a duplicate! It is unjust because it's not my fault my mail was lost. I read that I need the copy of the approval notice to file for AOS. I have the emails that notified me that I was approved. I want to contact the NVC and ask if that is enough since USCIS has yet to send me my letter, again. I will also call USCIS again and ask to speak to a secondary customer service officer which is what an agent from USCIS told me after I last called and explained my situation. My fiancé will enter the country tomorrow and we will marry in two weeks. Our only hold back for filing AOS is that NOA2

  17. EVERYONE!!!

    WE GOT APPROVED OFFICIALLY, NOW!

The CO that he first got, forgot to swear him in!! Like he forgot to ask my fiancé to swear that what he was going to say or had said was the holy truth!!!!!!!!!!! JUST FOR THAT!!!!!!!!!!!

I HOPE THAT CO IS IN DEEP TROUBLE BECAUSE HE HAS MADE US SPEND $700 DOLLARS EXTRA AND HAS MADE US GO THROUGH EMOTIONAL DISTRESS!

At the end of the day, luckily he will get his visa issued tomorrow and ready for pick up at the embassy tomorrow. Thank you all for the support and help, it is greatly appreciated!!

  18. Hi, everyone!

My fiancé went to his interview for the K1 visa last Thursday and was "approved" but told that they had to check his records and if nothing came up then he would receive his visa in two weeks. They kept his passport. Today, my fiancé received a phone call from the embassy telling him to come in as soon as possible because the CO had to talk to him again... Let me explain how my fiancé's interview went last Thursday in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

He got sent to a CO who told him he could not find his file and to go back to the previous window. He got there and they told him that there was an error in his fingerprints and he would need to take them again right there and then. He was sent to a CO who was very kind and took his biometrics once again. Finally, he was sent back to the green chairs and by chance got the same CO who had not found his file. The CO greeted him and began looking over my fiances documents. The first questions asked were about our relationship. For example, how he proposed, how did we meet, how long we had dated for and he replied eight months and the CO commented it was a short time and asked again, then he asked what our plans were, and what I did for a living, where I worked and lived, If I spoke Spanish or if he spoke English. Then began the personal questions asking if he had gone to the U.S. Before and how, if he had tried to cross illegally, then seed if he had a criminal record, if he had tattoos and used drugs, then once asked again if he had had problems with the police in Mexico or the US. Then the CO said to my fiance: OK, I will check your record and if everything goes well and you're clean then your visa will arrive at the DHL office you requested. He did not congratulate him nor asked if he had any doubts or worries. He gave him a green sheet that tells us hoe to track the passport package. My fiance says he would overhear other CO'S kindly asking questions to the other people there and even congratulating them but his CO was just straight forward. This is why we began to have worries about him receiving his visa.

Let me explain my fiances situation: his passport and visa expired about ten years ago when he was underage. He did not renew because he wasn't well off economically and honestly he didn't have an interest in going to the U.S. Again. A few years after it expired, his passport was stolen from his home. He reported it but again never got a new one until a few months ago. Obviously, this situation is suspicious to the CO'S. Also, my fiancé's father lives in America as well and he is a permanent resident and we mentioned that as well when we filled out his DS-160. He doesn't see his father much. His father became a permanent resident a while back and has not done anything legally to claim his son for the permanent residency... I don't think my fiancé would be eligible anyway because he is already 24.

Now we are not sure what do expect at all. My fiancé has booked his flight again to fly all the way to the embassy for tomorrow night and to go on Thursday morning to the second interview. This has been an emotional drain! We do not know what to expect nor why he would get asked to come in again.
