  1. Hi folks,

Filling out the I-751 form and noticed that the instructions are a bit different compared to the I-129F filled out a couple of years ago.

It now states that there must be no blank spaces.  Had a couple of specific questions.

    1)  Does it literally mean that there can be no blank spaces on the form at all?  I understand that typically each Parts main/first question must have an N/A or 'None'.

But does that mean I have to fill in 'N/A' or none in all corresponding questions in the respective section?  (i.e.:  Child 1 Family Name: 'N/A'.  Given Name: 'N/A'.  Middle Name: 'N/A'.  Date of Birth: 'N/A'.  Street Number and Name: 'N/A'.  City or Town: 'N/A', etc.

Seems like it would be a complete mess with 'N/A's all over the place.

    2)  In Part 11. Additional Information, even if I don't have any additional information to provide, do I still have to enter my Family Name and Given Name?  Or can I just write 'N/A' under my Family Name.

Thanks!  This is giving me paranoia flashbacks to the I-129F days.  :P

  2. My then fiancee came here on a K1 and we got married last year. She has her conditional permanent residence.

We're planning on travelling outside of the country back to her home country.

We're planning on going for 1-2 months.

I'm wondering if that's going to cause any problems.

From what I understand with the conditional greencard, they want you to establish your residence and anything over 6 months is a big problem.

Dumb question but, is that 6 months total since getting conditional permanent residence or 6 months in a row being out of the country?

Because after we got married here, we went back to her country for a couple of months last year.

Maybe I'm overthinking but, don't want her to have any problems when she reaches immigration in the US or when it comes time to remove conditions.

    Thanks!

  4. I've tried looking at my state's DMV site (NJ) but am having trouble finding a definitive answer.

My wife has a conditional green card and she also has an international driver's license as well as her native South Korean driver's license.

Does she need to take a written test? Would she also need to take a road test?

Bit confused about the process as the website doesn't mention anything for green card or conditional green card holders.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. [i originally posted this in the wrong thread, so hopefully I'm in the right place now thanks to ChasUno.]

    Howdy folks.

Sent the AOS package earlier this year and arrived; "On January 25, 2016, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status".

Haven't heard anything since. We received receipts and email receipts, but so far nothing else. No biometrics appointment yet, no updates and nothing else in the mail. I notice some others in similar situations?

Figured I'd sign up and chime in.

    1) Speak to Tier 2 rep immediately. You should have received Biometrics notice months ago. Typically takes 2-3 weeks to receive Biometrics appointment notice. If not, there's a good chance your mail was lost and your appointment already passed. And we all know that's not a good thing.

    2) Make an Infopass appointment.

  6. isn't 90 days the expected best case for EAD/AP, if only day 78 why a ServiceRequest/InfoPASS?

Because you don't have to wait for the full 90 days. There's no reason to.

Going to an Infopass appointment on day 78 is not going to result in the agent telling you to wait for the full 90 days. In fact, going to an infopass appointment will only benefit you.

Besides, Infopass appointments take about 2-3 weeks anyway. There's rarely any slots open with immediate availability.

  7. Hi guys,

a quick question to anyone who submitted service requests for EAD. Hubby and I submitted one today, as it is day 78 since we filed. We got a response a few hours later saying the case is still under review and we will receive an answer or notice soon.

My question: after how long did you guys actually receive an answer after filing a service request??

I honestly feel like Service Requests do absolutely nothing.

You definitely want to make an Infopass appointment.

Those, I feel, make a difference.

  8. my husband and i got married a month ago and we sent in the application to Chicago, IL (USA) a week and a half ago..

    my questions for anyone thats been through the process or knows;

how long until did it take for them to notify you of it being received (through the electronic notification) ?

how long did it take to process?

how long from when you sent in the application to approval date did it take?

the USCIS website processing time date for Chicago says 'July 2015'

kinda worries me to think that they are processing applications from 10 months ago.

It really is the luck of the draw and it widely varies.

The electronic notification is typically within a week.

What are you adjusting from? That typically makes a difference.

My wife adjusted from a K1. From AOS NOA1 to approval of the Green Card, it took my wife's case, 76 days to get approved with an interview waiver. For others, it's as much as 9, 10 months.

The EAD/AP should be approved roughly in 2 months, give or take.

  9. Looks like I am not alone. And as of now I am still waiting for the AP to arrive. I highly doubted it would be a card. I am expecting an I-797C or some notice that says "OK to travel".

We received the card today and it is indeed a combo card with the I-512 designation at the bottom.

I had the biggest sigh of relief when I saw it.

But I feel for you guys. Come on USCIS. These were supposed to be combo cards.

  10. Similar timeline here. AOS/EAD/AP packet received January 14, NOA1 Jan 19, biometrics done March 1.

No RFE, no change on USCIS status check site.

I think I'm going to do the service request.

You can have the rep create a service request.

But an Infopass appointment is something that I feel, makes a slight difference. You really should make an Infopass appointment.

At the Infopass appointment, the rep will look up the details of your case and will create an inquiry on your behalf.

It may be coincidental but after the Infopass appointment, literally the next day, our EAD/AP was approved.

    Congratulations!

Did you get a tracking number? My card was mailed the same day as you and I still have not received the card.

Speak to Tier 2. They should be able to provide you with a tracking #.

  11. So something strange that maybe someone can shed some light?

This morning I checked the status of my wife's AP and EAD.

For the AP it said "Case was approved". For the EAD it said "New Card is Being Produced."

When I checked it this evening they both now say "Case was approved" and that the approval letter would be mailed.

Why did the "New card is being produced" change back to "Case was approved"?

  12. It might be coincidence but thank you to the kind lady at the Infopass appointment who put in a Service Request for an update on our AP/EAD.

Checked the status this morning and our AP was approved and our EAD card was being produced!!

So does this mean that it'll be a combination card and our AP/EAD card will be sent together or separate cards?

A little bit confused because when I check the status of the Advanced Parole it says "Case Was Approved" and when I check the status of the EAD it says "New Card Is Being Produced".

Our initial NOA1 was Jan 26th to give others a perspective on timeline.

  13. This happened to me aswell at the start of February. I wasted 2 - 3 weeks by requesting a tier 2 IO to re-send the notice. They were extremely unhelpful and ended up sending me mail stating exactly what the update said, not the actual notice.

I decided to make an INFOPASS appointment and the IO there was extremely helpful. I was in and out in 20 mins. The IO couldn't figure out exactly what the notice was but he informed me that my case was in Caifornia and that it had a Potential for Interview Waiver on it, and there was no RFE or problems with my case.

It is definitely worth booking an INFOPASS appointment. Ringing USCIS and speaking to tier 1 and tier 2 was such a waste of time. And, the INFOPASS IO put my mind at ease.

And of course as I'm sure you already know, make sure your name is registered with USPS (if it already is, it is worth calling and speaking to USPS to make sure it doesn't happen again), and make sure that your full name is both outside and inside your letter box. And it doesn't hurt to update your address on USCIS's website, even if it hasn't changed.

Yes, I called Tier2 and they said they had no idea why I received this message. According to their end, everything looks fine.

The rep put in a service request regardless.

As you mentioned, I made an InfoPass appointment.

Unfortunately, the earliest available appointment is at the end of March. =(

  14. It is possible that it could be biometric letter :(

I would call them to find out what it is so they can resend it. Good luck!

We never did receive the original Biometrics letter. So we asked USCIS to fax us the letter and we used that to do a walk-in.

Perhaps this notice was for the new Biometrics appointment (which is not needed anymore).

Guess I'll have to call them letter to see what's going on.

The thing I'm more concerned about is that the post office could not deliver it.

  15. I just talked to someone from tier 2 and they said that my biometrics letter hasn't been sent out yet, hopefully that's the truth.

Well, that's a somewhat promising sign then.

I was told the same thing for over a week when I called. Although it was Tier 1 that said this to me.

If it'll make you feel better and give you some peace of mind, I'd say to call back and speak to another Tier 2 rep.

The only reason I say this is because I spoke to 3 Tier 2 reps in one day and was given a completely different answer by all 3 reps.
