  1. Hi friends.

    I just joint u and i am happy :)

NVC has recieved my documents on Dec 9th.

60days are up. i was waiting to recieve an email on 9feb. As u know unfortunetly NVC was close.

i called NVC on 3feb and they told me i should wait for a week bcuz they didnt review my documents !!!

I am tired of remaining on the line for 2.5 hours.

    :(

how many days should i wait to recieve an email?

    I really appreatiate ur help.

My scan date was Dec. 4 and they informed me about two weeks ago on day 64....so yes theyre being VERY slow...Maybe try calling them again?

  2. Today is not a good day for my fam and I,as I am writing this I'm crying. I'm hurt beyond words, so hurt, I don't think God listens to my prayers anymore, if he did he won't make us suffer like this. My husband called NVC this mng to find out abt my daughter's case, (mine was completed last mnth) they said they reviewed it on the 5th Feb. And a sheet of paper was missing on the AOS, the sheet that asked if anyone helped u fill out the AOS. No one helped us my husband did it himself. They said we hve to send that sheet and wait another 60 days, Bare in mind that sheet of paper will b blank cause no one helped us, YES 60 days for a blank sheet of paper. There is nothing mre I can do but sit here and cry smfh, I feel like I'm gonna loose my mind. I hve not physically seen my husband in one loooooooooooong year they don't care abt that I guess.

I can 100% relate!!!! two weeks ago they sent me a checklist too. They said all my docs and AOS complete BUT....the signature on the last page is not an original, but a copy. I argued, they wouldnt listen....so i have to do a whole AOS again...just for one signature....stupid stupid stupid. THIS is why they have a backlog. but they dont care. I thought all this would be over by late march or april...now id be lucky if this is over by june. I felt like crying too mate....but if their goal is to break us, they wont succeed. I'll keep sending documents and making phone calls unti i finally get a case complete and an interview!

Until then....im going to stuff my face with ice cream and wallow in my sorrow lol.

  3. I just spoke with NVC. I sent them an additional AOS package for good measure while I'm waiting for the supervisor to review the one that's already there (just to confirm that the signature is not a copy!!!) I asked if they could expedite my case via the most recent AOS package I sent since it is just confirming a signature and they said they didn't have any measures like that in place? I asked what the backlog currently looked like and if there was a possibility I'd hear back before the 60 days were up. He said that it wasn't likely and the best I could hope for was 55 days....

All this for a stupid signature...wow.

  4. They just want to hold back the cases as long as they can. :(

I'm a fed, and I've always thought the goal was to get RID of backlogs. I overnighted another AOS. I figure it's best to do that then wait 40 days, get a negative response, and then send an AOS and wait an additional 60 days on top of that. They don't care either way, but I do. We're not all just numbers to meet their quotas. Check out some of the reviews from employees at nvc from indeed.com. It's quite sad--pay cuts for not answering enough calls (which is what happens when you take your time with each caller instead of rush them off with a script) I can't blame the ones who pick up the phones, but the ones who are part of the review process are a major problem.

  5. Continue planning. It is good to focus on the finish line! I know it is difficult to be positive right now. I myself feel like ####### due to this wait, and reading your story made me feel worse! We must remain positive and keep goinG!

You will soon be over with NVC. Hope the supervisor review gets completed quickly. Best of luck.

You shouldn't feel that way AT all....he said your case was complete except for that signature and surely a supervisor will be able to confirm it was original. You had everything in order and unfortunately this is one of those times unfair things that happen when you jump through the NVC's hoops. You did everything in your control to ensure it moved on, I just struggle with how many variables we cannot control in this process.

Thanks everyone! The silver lining was that I talked to a really nice guy at the NVC, I actually got him twice. The 2nd time i called an hour later and i lied a little hoping i wouldnt sound too desperate by saying that I called an hour before, so i said i called them 2 days ago and got something about signatures, and the rep was like "yaaa that was me and that was today like an hour ago"...ooops. smh. Then I went through the whole speech again and he reminded me that he put it in supervisory review. i thanked him and said that a lot of ppl probably do that so it's likely going to be a long wait regardless, but he said they only refer cases for supervisory review if they believe the person is being honest....so yeah...i dunno...definitely grabbing a pint of mint chocolate chip tonight.

The US embassy in ankara schedules interviews for the following month the first 2 weeks of every month, so theres no hope of an interview by the end of march...at this rate it'll be summer or fall...

Pity party at my house tonight! I'll bring the xbox, ya'll bring the food!

  6. So sorry. That's not fair. Did you use black ink or blue ink to sign?

I used black. I talked to the NVC guy--i actually got a nice one for once--and he said that they would accept the form in either black or blue ink--but the issue wasn't the color, it's that they thought it was a copy, which it's not. They sent it to supervisor review, which could take up to 40 days. In the meantime he said I could submit a new AOS so that we don't have to start 60 days again if the supervisor doesnt rule in our favor. He also said we don't have to include the 2014 tax year yet, we could include up to 2013 bc 2014 isn't due until April so 2013 is still valid. He also said that this new affidavit wouldnt affect the old one at all, meaning if the supervisor agrees with us they'll move the case to cc and disregard this new affidavit. but if he doens't agree with us, at least we'll have a head start on the 60 days bc we weren't waiting for the supervisor. He also said we could use the old barcode cover sheet they sent us. So i'm overnighting everything again today because I saved the template and tax docs. All i have to do is sign and send.

  7. No, the supervisor review doesnt, but I know a lot of people ask for supervisor reviews so it could take a while. It's risky bc if you don't ask for a supervisor review, your 60 days starts again now. But if you do ask for one and the supervisor decides the nvc guys were right the first time, it's 60 days on top of the time it takes a supervisor to review. I kept telling my wife the cc would be any day now...I dont think I can break her heart and tell her it could be another 60 days...plus 2 months for an interview...this is just too overwhelming...

  8. I'm on the verge of tears right now....I just spoke with them on the phone and they said the signature doesn't look like an original bc they think it might be a copy. But it's 100% an original!!! I mailed everything overnight! I don't know what to do...they said they'd put it in supervisory review....but man oh man....another 60 days?? for something that isn't even true! they said the documents are complete otherwise! This isn't fair! I did everything right!!

  9. I'm on the verge of tears right now....I just spoke with them on the phone and they said the signature doesn't look like an original bc they think it might be a copy. But it's 100% an original!!! I don't know what to do...they said they'd put it in supervisory review....but man oh man....another 60 days?? for something that isn't even true! they said the documents are complete otherwise!

  10. So they gave you a checklist for sending photocopies? Did you complain to a supervisor?

I sent photocopies because that's what they said on their website.

No...I called them twice and spoke to 2 different people who told me that they weren't accepting copies. I didn't know that the rules had changed and that photocopies were okay until after i submitted everything. Now they have originals for all of my wife's docs. :/

  11. I would say call tomorrow at exactly 7 am. I'm sure they would have had an update for you today if they were open. Hang on! Tomorrow for sure. Please, let us know tomorrow what your update is

I promise I will! Not gonna to lie...I'm expecting the worst, bc this whole process has been just awful. I'm expecting something like..."yaa..approved...and the embassy says it'll be another year before we can get your wife an appointment".

To give everyone some background, my wife is in Iraq. The visa dept on Baghdad is not processing very many, if any, immigrant visas right now bc of ISIS. My wife, who happens to be in a really safe area-Kurdistan-was told that when NVC approves her papers, she'll have to travel to baghdad for the interview. Presently, Kurdistan shares most of its borders with ISIS than Iraq (crazy, right?!), so there was no way in hell i was going to be okay with her travelling to baghdad. So i fought like hell to have her papers transferred to turkey--i.e. get a new case number, etc. Initially, when I asked to have her reassigned, i was told that if my wife didnt want to risk travelling, that would be her problem--no understanding at all whatsoever of how incredibly dangerous that part of the world is--followed by a subsequent "click" when i demanded to speak to a supervisor. Eventually, I got someone nice and her case number was changed to reflect turkey-but that was four months ago. Then came the checklist in December, scanned Dec. 2, and the line's been cold ever since.

Fingers crossed I hear something positive tomorrow....because if I have to hear that script one more time, I'm going to need a few pints of mint chocolate chip cookie dough to drown my sorrows.

  12. this is ridiculous....62 days to look at a simple checklist...i cant believe DOS actually contracted all the employees at NVC from a private company. Federal employees are not allowed to behave like this...I checked the AOS status on ceac and it still says paid, not "N/A" which is what some folks believe is a good sign. Maybe this is their goal--to make applicants give up, resulting in a backlog reduction.

  13. Yes, I know that useless sheet of paper they mail out now states "at least 60 days" but this is absolutely absurd. We responded to their checklist with all of the necessary ORIGINAL documents (yup, you heard right. Some say it is no longer required, and copies are okay, but we they asked for originals and not copies from us) on December 2nd 2014. Today marks 62 days. Within that time period we've sent multiple emails requesting status updates and haven't received a single response. The few times we've managed to get through on the phone lines, we've been told (as late as last week) that they haven't processed our case yet.

I don't think there's any recourse for the average citizen. We got our congressman involved early on in the process but that didn't do anything for us to be honest.

Any tips on what we can do in the meantime? The NVC folks are pros at reading off of the sheet of paper in front of them when you ask them what's taking so long...I'd kind of like a little more details than than that :/

  14. I agree they don't care so we have to do all the work. Keep calling they will answer you eventually and if not I would ask to speak to a supervisor but on Tuesday they have meetings on Monday and unless you call at 7am Monday then you just might get lucky. But never give up. :)

Thank you we need all the luck in the world and good luck to you.

    Thanks for the advice!

Also, just a heads up-someone mentioned that after early November 2014, NVC no longer requires originals of civil documents and that copies will be accepted--this was NOT the case for me. They required ALL originals from us, which was incredibly difficult given that my wife lives in Iraq. It makes no sense why she has to send her papers across the ocean to NH only to have NH send them allll the way back to the embassy when the interview date is set. She could just bring them with her...duh. But then again, this is NVC. They think make us listen to them talk to us in Spanish after hitting "english" is an improvement, smh.

  15. Day 62--absolutely nothing from NVC. No emails, no updates when I call-NOTHING. They received the checklist documents on December 2nd via the email they confirmed. They cherry on top is that their phone lines say that they're "closed" today. Some people are apparently getting through...after 8 phone calls.... I'm still not one of them. :/

I have lost complete faith that anything will ever happen at this point. I think I'd win the lottery sooner than get an approval and appointment date from NVC. They just don't care.
