Easiest way to find a job is through personal contacts. Welcome to the USA. There is very high real unemployment now. It is almost impossible to get a job from sending out resumes.

Not really. Its 2017 the unemployment rate is also low.

Thank you for answer sunny banana😊

My K2 also, they go to the CFO seminar with me?

Who will go to CFO seminar ? your spouse? I dont think your Spouse can go to the seminar with you for CFO. I was not even allowed to go with my wife for the CFO Sticker so im assuming its same for seminar.

What is next step after visa approved?

except to wait my documents to deliver here😊

You can attend your CFO seminar while waiting for your Visa in the mail. It takes like 8 to 10 hours to get your CFO. Then after that when you do get your CFO paper and the visa in mail you can go ahead and get your CFO Sticker and then just leave.

My wife got her CFO Sticker literally on same day befor we left and our tickets as well haha

It's more than collecting a "fee for tax". You need to research what the CFO's mission is and I think you would change your outlook. ;)

Yeah Hank already educated me about it  in the previous posts im suprised you didnt see it.

Are you a physician in Russia? How far out from medical school are you? Do you speak English fluently? Medical English?

At best I would say you can find a part-time job, but the Step exams aren't easy even for medical students in the US. International physicians I know that had to take them later on typically took time off and had dedicated time for studying. Even in medical school, most schools give you substantial time to study for Step 1. I remember my schedule was essentially up at 7:00 am, study until 11:00 am, exercise until noon, lunch/break at noon. Restart studying at 1:00 pm and go until 6:00 pm, dinner, restart 7:00 pm until like 9:00 - 10:00 pm. I did that for about 2 months.

Should also add - It also depends on what your career goals are. If you are already a physician, what kind? In particular with Step 1 it isn't just about passing, it is about getting a score that is competitive for a certain type of residency. If you are in a specialty that is competitive, and what to continue working in that specialty you will likely need a Step 1 score that is strong enough to get you a residency here (since you will likely need to repeat whatever post-graduate training you did in Russia since the US tends to assume that we have the best system in the world and training anywhere else is obsolete and inferior).

Yeah its prety difficult. My sister spent 3entire entirejust studying for the USMLE she passed all the steps recently but it was a huge challenge. Took a very long time. She studied in a different country and wanted to be a Dr in uSA

I won't even be close. I will be in Bulacan, just North of Manila. But I was referring to the Philippines in general being a lot safer.

Well Manila and that area is far far away from Mindanao so you have nothing to worry about. Manila has its own issues probably not the terries but Manila isnt exactlt a safe place either if youre not careful. Even Cebu but thats just going of topic now my bad haha

  7. My wife and I will move to US in the next few weeks. I am wondering how long it will take to get the SSN because She wants to work as soon as possible. Ive been told on Visa Journey after you get your greencard stamp at us airport you can then apply for a SSN then you must wait for the SSN. Without the SSN you cant apply for work.

[also we did the Spouse Visa (DCF) ]

I am very well aware of the history, thank you. It does not change my opinion that it was warranted in this case. When you have rebel factions kidnapping and murdering citizens you must take action. When close to half of those rebels are invaders from foreign countries even more so. Neither one of us know the future so I guess we will need to see how it plays out. I will b e there for close to a month in August and I am not worried at all.In fact I feel I will be safer this visit than any visit in the past.

Well you shouldnt be too worried its mainly in just what 1 city? Marawi the issue and maybe a handful of other cities. Rest of Mindanao isnt too bad from my experience and what ive heard.

  9. Im here in Mindanao still. But in Northern Mindanao. They got the NPA rebels here, NPA mist be terrified of the martial law im assuming they will lay low for the next few months since theyre going after AbuSayaf or whatever for now. They probably dont want any more attention.

Yes, as stated by NikLR, she will also need to go in person and apply for an SSN but she can do that with the temporary I-551 (green card) stamp that they will put in her passport. That should be pretty quick, so I doubt she would be able to find a job and be ready to start faster than you can get all of that done.

How long does it take to get the SSN after we get the temporary green card stamp at airport.

With a spouse visa (since that seems to be what you are getting), as soon as she enters the US she will have a green card and can begin working. When she enters they will stamp a temporary version in her passport, then the actual physical green card should arrive about a month or so later.

If this is wrong and you are actually doing a K-1 visa (fiance visa) then you will have to file for AOS after getting married and you'll have to file for EAD/AP at the same time. In that case it will take about 3-4 months for the EAD/AP so that she can start working while waiting for the greed card (it takes about 1 year to go through the full AOS and get the green card).

We filed the Spouse Visa through DCF. So basically she can work after getting the temporary greencard stamp in her passport at the airport

  12. She is getting her Visa in the mail in Philippines next week. We are in Philippines right now and will leave together after 2 or 3 weeks from now to USA. I was just wondering how soon can my wife apply for work in USA. I know i can apply now already since i have my ssn and etc.

(Also we filed the Spouse Visa (DCF) through Manila, Philippines.)

  13. When my brother in law first arrived to to USA,Cali he was just working as a tutor. Actually it was a Tutor for Autistic children.  It was a parttime job because he was stidying for his USMLE most of the time.  Maybe if you can find a part time job it will help something not too physical or too stressful like a Librarian job or some kind of a tutor.

All is fine.. until it isn't.

Look at it this way; you had 2GO deliver the document, it arrives in the mail room, gets sorted to be sent to the IV unit, there another person opens the envelope and puts the document in a stack of other documents to be scanned and matched up with the physical file, once the case file has been updated the CO that interviewed you reviews the case file AFTER spending the morning doing interviews ... after he is done, a secondary person verifies everything... then finally the visa is approved and status changes to ISSUED.

Now I will ask you.  This is the government, just how long do you think all these tasks would take??

It is currently 88F and sunshine here in Manila, the feels like temperature is 102F, no rain is predicted until  late afternoon... grab your umbrella, go out, visit family and friends.. soon you will be thousands of miles away.. missing them all.

Good news. It said Administrative Processing just a couple hours ago in the morning. When i checked it again 1 hour ago it said ISSUED!

    yay

Thank you for all your help and everyone on VisaJourney who made this process a lot easier. I will continue to be active on VJ like you because i know how stressful this process can be. I will do ky best to assist others if they need help with any info the best i can.

I hope the visa arrives soon because me and my wife are currently in Mindanao. We are in N mindanao so away from the rebel fighting for now. Even tho there are communist rebels in bukidnon lol

    Do NOT call.

Just be patient.  Check status every day ...    and relax.

Many have come before you that got a 221g for a missing document, they are long gone to the USA.. ;)

Alright. The interviiewers seemed ok with our other documents. We just had an NBI that my wife had which she forgot to put her middle name in thats all. Then we submitted a correct one the next day.

  16. We stayed at Casa Bocobo. I think Bocobo is the best for the price you pay. Also Hotel soriente isnt bad either. Bocobo is 2300 for cheapest room. Soriente is at least 1900. They both have great wifi as well and Bocobo has great free breakfast while soriente has no breakfast or a restaurant.

Theyre both great choices since you can walk to st lukes or us embassy from either hotel in a couple min.

Actually scratxh that do not stay in hotel soriente i just remembered they charged me to use the phone in their rooms without warning me in advance.  Go with Casa Bocobo
