Great! Thanks
Does it allow you to change the green card delivery address? As my wife decided to FaceTime me last night to surprise me that she upgraded us to a bigger apartment in the same block haha. She's been moving all week and never mentioned it!
I picked up my passport with it's nice shiny visa stuck inside it's pages today and can now answer your question!
The clerk did manage to update my address at interview as my 'do not open' package had my details (including the new address) attached. In amongst the paperwork was the advice to update change of address, for purposes of receiving Green Card, either at interview OR at point of entry when dealing with the immigration officer.
-
@Devonian, haha nice surprise for you, at least she moved already lol!
I did at least get to see the new place back in August and knew it was coming. If modom had organised the move a fortnight earlier she'd have had 230lbs of experienced house moving muscle at her disposal but shucks

Lol, my missus moved about three weeks ago so I've had the same questions.
I did tell them at the embassy but they seemed fairly nonplussed about it and I'm not sure if they actually updated it - chap looked at my bit of paper with the new address, tapped his keyboard about 3 times and gave me back my bit of paper.
The general consensus of opinion on the web seems to be 'let the immigration officer at POE know' - which makes sense as they'll have your immigration paperwork and forward it to USCIS for the green card processing stage. I'll be checking the AIS site when I pay the green card fee but at the moment I can't access it properly because I don't yet have an Alien number.
As for earlier plane issues, there aren't a lot of options for flying into Tampa from the UK - pretty much only BA unless you fancy doing a Euro trip en route.
They charge a flat fee of £1065 for a single all year long (due to increase this coming April). I managed to bring the costs down considerably using my accrued airmiles otherwise I was looking at £610 return.
-
Did you all pay the sneaky 165 dollars for processing your immigration? Cheeky
Nope. Although to be fair it's not an immigration processing fee, we've already paid that, it's a green card processing fee
Did you pay it at the pay booth in the embassy or through the AIS (ELIS) website when you got you passport back?
-
Congrats everyone else who has been approved
...now to find a cheap one way flight...
I booked a return as it was about half the price of a one way fare. Some people just waste the return portion but I've booked it for a sensible date next year so it should get used.

@ CJKylie and Devonian
Well done to you both
Isn't it an anticlimax, after all the worry lol
The waiting room and the perpetual ping gave me neck ache lol
My flight booked for 2nd Oct
See you Stateside, enjoy your new lives
Derek
Cheers DJ,
congratulations on getting your visa too
The interview was a bit of an anti-climax, still got to wait for my passport though... (and then I suppose we get 21 months grace before round 2)!!!
I'll be headed out at the end of October

The UK Marriage Visitor Visa is not working for us, for these reasons:
- You need to get married 6 months after you enter the UK.
- We plan for him to visit over Xmas and then return to the US, before coming back to the UK in the summer to marry me
- However, the visa is 'activated' from the first visit which means the 6 month 'marriage period' isn't long enough
- We can't marry any earlier than later June/July as I have exams
Call me daft but a UK marriage visa is valid for a stay of up to six months, not for marriage after a six month period!
From Gov site...
'You can use this visa to marry or enter into a civil partnership in the UK:
- within 6 months of your arrival'
If you want to have a ceremony in the summer why not get married in a registry office in the winter when he's here? (I may be wrong but I think you are both required to give 28 days notice in person at a registry office but have lived in the district for at least 7 days).
You can apply for the marriage visa up to a maximum of three months in advance (Apply today and he'd have to be in the UK [or is that marry?] before Christmas Eve) and it usually takes 3 weeks to be approved.
Then after your Registry office wedding file start your CR-1 Process by filing an I-130 (he does that bit) then get him back in the summer and have a 'wedding ceremony' with everyone that needs to be there

How did you schedule your interview so soon after your medical?!
Congrats on your approval!!!
I believe the OP is a CR-1 category not K1.
(My medical was just as simple, but I had x-ray, saw doc and then the nurse for vaccination history)
OP - Congratulations on the visa.
-
Thank you Dyattaw .
I did my medical on june..
Have I missed something?
My P4 (which comes as an email not a letter) was the notification which told me when my interview is. How did you find out about your interview date if not from a P4 email?
-
Do we need to take a copy of the I-864 to the Interview ?
I did not make a copy of it and not the damn forms have changed..
Upon close observation it's the same ol form in a new format and 3 extra pages for interpreters and additional information.
obviously i wil have take the new one right..
I cannot find the older version anywhere anymore unless someone here has one downloaded and can send me a pdf )
Just noticed your post here, have you now got an interview date?
The email from NVC is fairly clear about what documents are required and what aren't. My list says that financial evidence was sent to the embassy from NVC and there was no code provided requiring that I bring any other financial evidence to the interview (Although I do have a copy of the I-864 in my folder, along with a print out of every email during the whole process and copies of everything I think relevant to the case, but it is for my reference only not theirs and I shall be querying any request to see anything that is not on the list provided by themselves.
Best of luck all

Anyone heard anything since last week's scheduled interviews seems like no movement since. My cc was the 13th Aug.
Mike
Have you had an email from NVC confirming that you're waiting for an interview to be scheduled?
It was 21 days for us between seeing that our case was complete to receiving the P4 Interview date letter
-
Just an FYI update on this. I received an email response to my request to nvcinquiry this morning at 5:32 a.m. PST. As I said, they have been responsive to my email requests. I believe it is in the wording used within the body of the email. My email was from Bob....thanks Bob!
Lol, I said you'd get a response after the interview date had been set,(true I thought it'd take longer though)
-
Congratulations on all my fellow UK V J'ers.
I truly am very happy for you.
Hope you all re united with your loved ones,
As for me my CC was the 6th of Aug but i have no news as of yet.
I made the stupid mistake of overstaying my Visa Waiver when i first got married in 1999 and since then i have had to do a Ten yr penalty.
My I-130 was filed in May of 2014 and i am still made to wait as a punishment maybe...
Please pray for me as i am ready to throw in the towel.
From your timeline it looks as though you caught USCIS at the wrong time and other than the most recent glitch your case seems to have progressed at standard snail pace, I very much doubt they are making an example of you.
Bear with it, you have come so far and are so close.....look on the bright side, most of us will be dealing with the system again in two years to renew green cards, you won't have to face them for ten years
God speed

I got CC'd August 10 (CR1 and Im a US Citizen, husband UK) -- I called today at our interview date was set yesterday!!!! September 29! Wahooo!!
Yay!! Congrats!! I just called myself and we got a Sept. 29 interview as well!!
CC 21 July, just got my interview date 21 September!!!!
Good luck all UK VJers they are still scheduling September
Congratulations all .... Mine has just come through as well
30th September for me.
Keep an eye on your email CJKylie (and everyone else), praying you hear very soon
-
I agree, but like I said, last year, also in July and August, there was a slow down. For example, no one who had a CC in July got in interview in Montreal until Sept. August ended up a month behind as well.
....either be proactive or be patient for what's in the middle isn't good for anyone's mental health. Just imho.
The figures from the DWheels data link for the period July and August last year indicate that cases were notified of scheduled interviews pretty much after a fortnight for nearly all cases, so at least people knew they may have a long wait to interview. The waiting is frustrating but usually we have some idea of average times between each step at the moment even those who are hanging on the phone to NVC aren't getting any indications.
BUT you are right - frustrating as it may be we have to accept that the wheels will turn and eventually pretty much everyone will know whether they will receive a visa or not in the end, however long that may be. Getting wound up just makes the whole thing more likely to end in a breakdown.
-
Also looking at the side bar, there are 4 recent IR1/CR1 approvals. Each from a different country.
Yup, that's not to say that interviews aren't happening.
I know it doesn't monitor every case that NVC deal with globally however Dwheels data would certainly give the indication that something somewhere is amiss.
-
Do you not recall the June 9th issue and how long it took to be rectified?
Do you not think that maybe they are backlogged or very busy in the summer?
I see it EVERY year at this time of year (August) where there is a longer wait period. These are human beings who conduct interviews. As such they are also allowed to have holidays during the summer, with their children and loved ones as well.
I think the NVC is pretty busy.
I don't disagree with you that NVC are busy but your response does not account for why it is that those applying for Immigrant visas have not been receiving interview dates since mid-July (expedites excepted) whilst non-immigrant interviews look like they are still being scheduled.
-
Egyptian spouses have waited up to 10 months for their interview dates after CC.
If the petitioner feels there is an issue they can try to contact their representative (congressman or senator) and get someone involved.
I think that the frustration on this thread isn't so much the times from CC to interview but more that the scheduling of interviews at all embassies appears to have come to a grinding halt.
We haven't waited overly long yet (in the grand scheme of things) in that our CC was 5th August but apparently notification for interviews for London are normally scheduled 7 days after CC.
We are told that it is the embassies who notify NVC of interview times but it does seem strange that embassies globally appear to have stopped scheduling since mid July. Why would every embassy suddenly find itself with no time to schedule CR-1 interviews? Is it that non-immigrant interviews have taken priority and shunted us to the back of the queue?
I understand that visa printing was an issue back in June and July but one would have thought that cases were processed on a first come, first served basis not type basis?
-
Got an email from NVC last night, heart was beating thought it was my interview date.........
It was a response to an email we sent in april
What a downer
Well, you can't accuse them of inconsistency!
-
I PM'd you. However, I will say I am not requesting an email that has yet to be generated, I am requesting a case status update. When you email, make sure to include your case #, Beneficiary name DOB and Petitioner name and DOB. Responses should be timely, waiting 6 weeks for a response is unacceptable.
Thank you for the reply, I just assumed that when it comes to the visa process that there was no such thing as an unacceptable waiting time, apparently we are all supposed to be most grateful that they are letting us in at all (something I see Donald Trump has views on!!)
-
I technically consider my requests a Freedom of Information Act request and they have 10 days to respond. I have yet had to quote the government code section in my emails but if I don't hear back in 10 days they will get another email from me with legalese!!!
Ah, as the petitioner in the US you have more clout than a UK citizen over US matters.
I am curious to know how your requests would fall within the FOIA? Presumably you'd have to send a specific request to a specific email at NVC not nvcinquiry and then they might tell you what information they hold on you? Does the Act extend to releasing private information into (what they would term) the public realm, especially as that same information would contain the details of a foreign National? (Obviously US legalese is something I have yet to familiarise myself with).
The last email confirms receipt of all required documentation to NVC and that the relevant parties will be notified of an interview when one has been scheduled (pretty much using those words, it's a fairly terse note!). I don't quite see how such an email, that has not yet been issued, would fall within the parameters of the FOIA and would be interested to know from which angle you'd persue it. (Feel free to pm me if you are willing to answer but not in the public arena)
-
Actually, they have been rather prompt with the emails. I have sent several and get responses within a few days. I phoned and got a verbal confirmation that our case completed on August 1, 2015 but have yet to have an email stating such. I would like to have a formal email so that when he visits we can prove his intent not to stay.
That's good to know but I must say it put me off bothering emailing them ever again!
-
I sent an email to nvcinquiry.
Not sure if you've sent them emails before but I did way back when I was chasing my DS-261 Choice of Agent confirmation. I received the confirmation some while before nvcinquiry got back to me...
...Two emails were sent back then, a week apart, both replied to BUT it took them six weeks.
I wouldn't hold your breath on a speedy return (when they do get back to you they should be able to confirm that you received your appointment date some while back - heck you may even have had your interview
)
