  1. 1) Discussed in this forum thread from last month: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/617715-confused-about-the-date-to-file-the-i-751/

    2) :guides: easily accessible at the top of the forum page. In particular, the ROC guide: http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide

    3) Read the USCIS Form I-751 instructions, https://www.uscis.gov/i-751 , read page 5, Evidence of the Relationship.

    4) Discussed in this forum thread 5 days ago: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/620090-anyone-got-rfe-for-sending-copy-of-front-green-card-only/

To adequately prepare your ROC packet for submission you should consider reading and reviewing the links provided here and in the other responses. The forum search function can also be useful. There is a wealth of information on this DIY site, and the official forms and instructions.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thank you so much for the updated information pitaya, all the information was really helpful :)

  2. I can only answer a couple of your questions:

90 day window - make sure your packet arrives during the window - not one day before and certainly not after.

Joint accounts - they want to see printed copies of statements that show you both on the accounts along with the transaction details. Give copies with both names on them back to your wedding or as far back as you can.

If you didn't have joint accounts until very recently, supply other proof that your finances were comingled and explain in a letter why the joint accounts were only opened recently.

    Good luck!

Thank You, really appreciate you taking out the time :)

That sounds like a perfectly good way to go about the situation, It had me tensed for a moment there but I can surely provide evidence of co-mingling finances.

Sending good thoughts your way too!

  3. Thank you for the links. The procedures and forms have been updated though the basics remain the same. I was just trying to get myself upto speed with something that needs to be kept in focus while filing the petition. Appreciate the reply :)

:guides: as they have the answers you are seeking in them. http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide

  4. Hello guys,

I have been here from when i started this journey. So happy to see that the journey still continues but i am not the only one.

I have a few questions and am about to file my I-751

    1) Is the I-751 supposed to be filed before the 90 day window starts or during it?( confused because i saw a few packets were returned to the sender)

    2) Kindly inform me about the steps in the process, I did read around but it was all bits and pieces.

    3) Need the names on joint bank account be added during the total two years( raising a chance of suspicion if not) or its irrelevant as long as its joint.

    4) I did read the USCIS website for the list of the documents but didn't see the need for front and back of the green card. Some threads have been created about it. Are there some additional documents not mentioned but that need to be sent?

Really appreciate any clarification provided. :)

  5. Hello heres the link that can ans some questions for You http://www.delhipolice.nic.in/. You have to get a PCC issued from District police Commissioner and you can carry the ustraveldocs page where it shows the pcc requirement to prove your need along with your interview letter if you receive one soon if not carry something that shows its for immigration.

also check this link out http://www.indiamike.com/india/india-expat-area-f84/getting-india-police-clearance-certificate-t51365/3/

  6. I864 and I864EZ are one and the same thing the diffrence just being that I864EZ is the shorter version of I864. I864EZ requires you to meet certain criteria listed in the link http://www.***removed***/affidavit-of-support/i-864ez-affidavit-of-support.html. If you find yourself eligible you can file I864EZ and its accepted by NVC OR fill an I864. I864a is for a joint sponser (if you have any) which is not needed if you are able to sponsor your spouse. I think tax transcrips for two years should do just to be sure add in a note about the 2012 tax returns. I'm not sure of the part if you were working before immigrating in 2012 and have to show those in tax returns, I hope other members can chip in about that.

  7. Is the biometrics appointment supposed to be scheduled before or after the interview date? My wife's interview for CR1 is on May 1at2th. I assume it has to be done before the interview, because the passport is one of the required documents for biometrics appointment, but they will be keeping the passport after the interview. It would be nice if someone could confirm that the appointment has to be made before the interview. Right now I am looking on ustra website and it shows that several appointments are available for May 11th. Would it be alright for me to schedule that day for my wife?

The biometrics have to be completed atleast a day before the interview. She can even get them done a few days before according to the dates available and convinence.

  8. Hi Jnsr...

    Congrats on your VISA....!!!!

Really appreciate your thoughts and comments. I guess there is some confusion - my doubt was not regarding to change my maiden name rather my doubt was whether it is necessary to have my spouse name (in the spouse name column) of the Indian passport. Nevertheless i totally agree your statement and share the same thoughts...... :) :)

Thank you :) . The only point I wanted to highlight was that don't be forced into including your spouses name as the officials insist. The sole purpose of PCC is to check your criminal record it has nothing to do with your spouse ( If you choose to include your partners name you have to get your passport reissued). Yes as I said its not mandatory.

    Congrats on your visa!

The case with India can sometimes be that officials are either not fully aware of rules, or other times they make up their own. Kudos for standing up for your right to decide whether or not to keep your maiden name.

Off topic.. what documents did you take to the passport office when submitting PCC application? ..And how long did it take them to issue it after the application? My wife, also an Indian citizen, is about to apply for PCC and would be helpful to her. So far she has not added my name to her Indian passport. Thx

Thank you :) .The appointment is valid for the next day after submitting the application( the date and time chosen). Printout of the application receipt. Documents you need to carry is just a photocopy of your passport with your signature & your original Passport. The fee is Rs. 500 & has to be paid at the passport office only. They issued me my PCC on the same day the whole process took a hour and half.

  10. i agree here with you, but i know a case or two where the police officials asked the applicant to include the spouse name in passport in order to issue the PCC certificate. SO i guess its safe to include spouse name in the passport.

Dear friend, I am a female residing in India and was asked to do the same(change my name to include my husbands) which included the process of reissuing an existing passport, changing names on other docs which were issued uniformly on the name I maintained and errands that were not necessary as I didn't wish to change my name. I told them it was my right to maintain which ever name I wanted to keep and they did issue me a PCC. Indian passport officials think they have a right to force things on people and exploit peoples rights( sometimes just because they are not aware) which is not correct. You can change your name if you wish to, but it does not have any impact on your application. My Visa was approved a few days ago and my name caused me no concerns the Indian official appreciated it. Well I just wanted to let you know that it isn't mandatory to include your spouses name.

  11. Hello guys, My visa has been approved. Just wanted to thank everyone for all their experiences and helpful posts. This site has been immensely helpful through the journey, wanted to thank you all and let you guys know that We really appreciate the good job your doing. Will post a complete review of the interview soon. Good Luck to all with interviews ahead may your journey have a happy ending :)

  13. Hey everyone,

I just mailed in my AOS, copy of my wife’s birth certificate, copy of marriage certificate, copy of passport, and police clearance certificate from India. Somewhere I read that it takes NVC 60 days to process all of this!!! Is this true? Can anyone who recently sent this stuff in conform this?

Additionally, what is my next step and how long does that process take?

    Thanks in advance!

Hello, yes NVC takes 60days( sometime around 55 days) to process the documentation maybe a few additional days ( 60+ a few more days ) as there have been delays lately. Once the process is complete you will receive a case complete from NVC and an interview letter will follows( within 14 days) notifying you of the interview( 1to 2 months) later OR If you get check listed for any document you will have to submit it and wait an additional 60days till you receive a case complete.
