  1. Hi guys,

My AOS is coming up on 7 months in now, and I assumed the case was being handled by our local field office, in St. Paul Minnesota. But last week I got an I-72 requesting a record of vaccinations, and the letter came from the Salt Lake City field office.

What's the deal here? Is my case being processed in Utah? Or do they just outsource certain parts of the process?

Thanks in advance for your insight!

  2. Hi all,

It's been a few months since I lasted posted here, but just wanted to share some info that I gleaned from USCIS' customer service center earlier today...

I received my I-765 approval notice 12 days ago but still hadn't received the card, so I called USCIS to find out when it was due to arrive (I have an interview coming up!). Turns out that production of all cards - Green cards as well as EADs as I understand it - is delayed, and that they've increased the max wait time from 30 days to 60.

If anyone else is waiting on a card and/or knows anything about this, feel free to post in here!

  3. From what I've been told, it's unlikely to be life-threatening or serious... but at the moment it's just unknown.

Can anyone advise generally on what wait times would be like if I just bit the bullet and paid for a urology appointment outside of insurance? Are we talking weeks or months (my only frame of reference here is the NHS, where you have to wait around for anything).

  4. Hi guys,

Having a bit of a stressful time at the moment, and I'm hoping maybe someone could offer me some info that might help...

I was granted my K1 towards the end of April. My ticket is booked to fly to Minneapolis next Thursday (14th May). In the last couple of weeks I've discovered that I have an unknown medical problem that requires me to see a urologist for a diagnosis. My doctor has tried treating me with antibiotics to no effect, so the only option now is that I get referred.

I really don't want to cancel my flight and my wedding. So my question is - if travel to the U.S. and get married to my fiance, can she add me to her health insurance and cover me to go see a urologist? Because I've already seen a doctor about this problem, I'm guessing it classes as a pre-existing condition. I understand that as of 2014, healthcare providers can no longer discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions, but does that apply to me as an immigrant? We'll be married but I won't have a green card, and will need to see a urologist asap.

My last resort option is to stay here and get referred to the NHS, who could see me next month. But obviously I really don't want to push my wedding back several more months!

    Help!

  5. That's wonderful news. Congratulations :)

How long did you wait for a medical appointment from when you called?

Also, I had no idea that NVC assigned or had interview dates for K1 visas. Is this usually the case?

I scheduled my medical the same day my status changed to 'Ready' on the CEAC website (right after completing my DS-160 and Notification Of Readiness). I asked for it to be 2 weeks ahead, and had no trouble booking it for that date.

As far as I'm aware it's the consulate that assign the interview, but once it's been scheduled the NVC have access to that information. So head's up to anyone waiting to find out their interview date - it's definitely worth calling up!

  6. HOLY COW GUYS.

I just called the NVC to check that they had everything they needed from me to schedule an interview, and the guy just casually drops into the conversation that I HAVE AN INTERVIEW ON APRIL 14TH!

I only had my medical last Tuesday!

I can't believe this! That means If I'm approved, I'll potentially have Visa in hand almost exactly 3 months from submitting the I-129F!

I'm going to go lie down now.

  7. Hi all,

I've started getting slightly paranoid over the last few days that, because I submitted my DS-160 the same day that my NVC status changed to 'Ready', there's the possibility that the embassy might not have had chance to put it in my case file.

I've got no reason to think this, other than I've read a couple of instances of it happening on these forums.

Did anyone else submit their DS-160 the same day? Is this common?

    Thanks!

P.S. I submitted it on the 13th March, and had my medical on the 24th. So obviously I don't expect to have received my interview letter by now anyway. I'm just making sure that I haven't done anything that might increase my wait.

  8. I think the Minneapolis group needs a meet-up in the future, even if for the sole purpose of seeing someone else from England. ;) Gotta love the Twin Cities. And it's a great time of year; this week is supposed to hit 70+ degrees (22+ Celsius).

If this happens anytime from June onwards, count me in! (I guess that's when I'll be there from).

  9. Hi guys,

I'd like to get a feel for how long it took between people having their medical (assuming they had already submitted the DS-160 and Notification Of Readiness before this) and receiving their interview letter.

The timeline doesn't show people's medical dates, so it'd be great to know how long people waited!

My medical was last Tuesday (24th March), and I can see that the results arrived at the embassy 3 days later. Hoping I get my letter in a few weeks' time!

  10. 1.) I am not, and have never intended to be "smug"

2.) I posted about your private message (as Shana has already mentioned) because I was concerned I had offended others as I had seemingly offended you. Turns out, I hadn't. People asked who you were, and I didn't realise you wanted your snarky requests to be kept a secret.

3.) I have tried to put myself in your shoes multiple times and you have once again criticised my efforts to be sympathetic- your offer of "truce" is immediately followed by an attack on said sympathy with your use of italics. Doesn't present you as overly sincere.

4.) For the LAST time I am GENUINELY sorry about the discrepancy between service centres and I am sorry that I enjoy using emoticons.

I don't think I'll bother with VJ anymore, can't deal with the keyboard warriors. For all of those who have helped Dan & I up until now I am truly thankful. Good luck to all of you for the future! (L)

Please don't leave Pheebs! Your posts have been invaluable to myself and many others on here, and I'm sorry you're receiving criticism for something that was out of your control.

Regardless of who feels aggrieved and who's right or wrong, disagreements like this almost NEVER end well on the internet. I really enjoy reading other people's updates in here, so hopefully the last few pages can just be swept under the rug and things can go back to normal.

I haven't really posted much on VJ, mainly just lurked in the background and read other people's stories with interest. But the embassy received my medical results on Friday, and now I'm just waiting for my interview letter. I'm killing the time by selling off anything I don't need when I move, and packing up anything I won't use in the next couple of months.

I came back from a week in MN last Tuesday, and for the first time, being there felt like 'home' in a weird way. I don't know if I can pinpoint why exactly. Maybe because I'm starting to develop friendships with my fiance's friends, that extend beyond just 'meeting the future husband of my friend'. Maybe because I'm navigating my way around the city with a degree of confidence, and revisiting bars/restaurants that I've enjoyed spending time in.

I'M SO GODDAMN EXCITED TO LIVE IN MINNEAPOLIS.

  11. Wow... it's amazing how quickly everything has moved since our case went to the NVC. It arrived there just over a week ago, and they had it sent out to the consulate 4 days later. Our status changed to 'ready' yesterday, and so I've been executing the final steps like a carefully planned robbery B-)

Police certificate should be arriving early next week... then I'm flying over to Minneapolis to see my fiance for a few days and pick up the affidavit of support. Then I arrive back into London the morning of my medical!

DS-160 and notification of readiness both submitted, so I've done as much as I can for now.

    I AM EXCITED.

  12. Hi guys. I booked my medical yesterday, after finding out that our case is in transit to London. I booked it for 2 weeks ahead, which I thought would give ample to for London to create a file for us. However, on the confirmation e-mail from Knightsbridge they state that one of the things you need to bring is a letter or e-mail from the consulate with your case ID number.

I don't know if this is a recent change, but I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere on these forums! Our case status changed to 'In transit' on 09/03, and my medical is booked for 24/03... do you think this will be enough time for me to receive a confirmation letter?

    Thanks!

  13. Thanks for the advice guys.

Our case updated to 'In Transit' yesterday, so I'd like to now book our medical. I notice though that on the Knightsbridge website, it says you need form 'IV18A' to bring to the medical. People who book their medical before the application arrives at the consulate - where are you getting this form from?

  14. Hi peeps. I held on the phone for an hour last night, but finay got our NVC case number (the app was received by them yesterday!). My question now is - what can I actually do with this? Is there an actual benefit to having the number now, or do I just have to wait like I would have done anyway?

  15. I'm way late jumping onto this thread, but my fiance and I filed on Jan 28th, and we're now eagerly awaiting our NOA2. She'll be over here visiting me in the UK next week, and it's exciting thinking that there's the possibility of our approval coming through while we're together!

I also see that there are a few other people in this thread who's other halves live in Minnesota! Good luck to you (and everyone else for that matter), and let's hope it all goes smoothly.

  16. Hi guys - long time listener, first time caller!

My fiance and I are preparing our petition to send off this weekend, and I just wanted to canvass opinion as to whether we have sufficient proof of having met/an ongoing relationship.

    (FYI, I am the beneficiary)

    We are including -

    • Photocopy of my passport stamps from 2 separate visits to the US in the last 6 months. Dates clearly visible.
    • Copy of my credit card statement, showing transactions that occurred in the state my fiance lives in.
    • 4 photos of us together, with names dates and locations on the back.
    • Printout of flight itineraries for 2 visits to the US within the last 6 months.
    • Printout of hotel itinerary, booked in my name in the state my fiance lives in.
    • Confirmation receipt e-mail for a restaurant booking in my name in the state my fiance lives in.
    • Facebook chat transcripts.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of my boarding passes. But I'm hoping the passport stamps offset that!

    Are we good?
