My mom had her interview two months ago and is already in the US. Good luck with the interview!
Oh awesome! What kind of things did they ask at the interview?
-
Wanted to update the thread! We received our interview date, it will be May 9th 2023. Anybody else have any updates?

Lucky you, congrats! I'm in Potomac and the estimate time for USCIS to look at the case is like 9 months away. Though I also got "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS" update in January, so maybe it'll get reviewed earlier.
Yes I feel super grateful... it's so crazy to me the processing time differences between each center. Hopefully everything starts picking up and things start moving more quickly for everyone.

Hello, the petition is asking where does the beneficiary live now? what should i respond if the beneficiary lives in the usa?
Are you doing an adjustment of status? If it asks where they live now and they live in the U.S. then that's what you need to put on the form.

I got similar update but it says this:
Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS
As of January XX, 2022, we are actively reviewing your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXX
Our records show nothing is outstanding at this time. We will let you know if we need anything from you.
Ah you must be at a slower service center. We are done with USCIS and NVC stages, everything has been approved so now we're just waiting for them to send us an interview date.

New update on my case! Received a notification today that we have been documentarily qualified, now comes the long part... waiting for the interview date 🥴
-
Been quiet here lately! Anyone have any case updates? We submitted our AOS/IV package today! Now we wait, and here's to hoping we don't get an RFE 🙃

Passport update! We applied June 7th, expedited with overnight postage there and back, and received his passport book back July 3rd-- so took abut 3.5 weeks total. We are still waiting on the passport card and his naturalization certificate back but at least we have the passport book in time for our travels later this month!

I know someone who had their interview today in Tukwila but no Oath ceremony. The system was down. Does anyone recall how long before the notice for Oath comes?
We received our notice for the oath exactly a week after the interview. There was 9 days between the notice and the oath ceremony.

If there are passport appointment after 17th and before 24th available, I'll take them. Let me know.
I have appointment at the Covington USPS location at 2:45pm on Monday June 21st if you want it! I haven’t canceled yet and we did ours earlier this week.

Did you apply expedited? Can you keep us updated with how long it will take?
Yes! We applied expedited and then paid the additional fee to get it overnighted there and back. The woman at the post office said that they've had a few people get theirs back even before the 4-6 week timeline and it just depends on how many they get that week. Will keep you updated on when we get his back!

I have a passport appointment at the Covington USPS location at 2:45pm on Monday June 21st if anyone would like it! We ended up driving out to Montesano on Monday to do the passport since we're on a tight timeline. Let me know if you'd like the appointment and I'll send the details!

Good morning! Received our notice this morning that my husband's oath ceremony will be June 4th in Seattle! Very excited we don't have to go back to Portland and that it's not too far out. His naturalization appointment was May 19th in Portland so Oath is scheduled for about 2.5 weeks after, not too bad!

Congratulations @jolyn69 and to all the others trekking down to Portland for interviews. That's good news and encouraging to hear that at least same day oath ceremonies are being conducted, at least for some. Although I can imagine that others on this forum who went to Portland and were not given same day oath are perplexed and irked they weren't given the options (I would be).
I'm wondering if conducting same day oaths are a relatively new procedure in the last year. I think that before the pandemic slowed down office procedures in the last 15 months, USCIS (across all offices) was only conducting same day oaths in very isolated and specific cases? Then with the growing backlog in some offices (e.g. Seattle field office) they began to rollout same day oaths in a few offices to help expedite things and clear the log jam. From what I gather from perusing the Portland N-400 threads, the same day oath was rarely offered in that office - even for Oregonians, unless coming from the opposite side of the state.
Just wondering if same day oaths is something new for the Portland office, that they're just beginning to dip their toes into based on the success of other regional offices. Of course, there could be other factors as well, for example they may have some newer employees (interviewing officials) that are not well versed on setting up the same day oath (?)...
It just seems from the context of improving efficiency and productivity that conducting same day oath procedures (or immediately following the interview) would be built into the entire interview package, just like the option to submit a passport application through the same system at time of interview.
btw- Portland had great food, there are some really fantastic food carts and restaurants around the city, so that's always a bonus for the trip 😋
thanks again for the updates!
I'm definitely irritated that my husband wasn't offered same day oath but now I'm thinking it has more to do with the fact that his fingerprints were missing (not sure how when we did biometrics Jan 2020) so his file was probably considered incomplete. I have a friend who lives in Oregon who had her naturalization appointment in April and she was not offered same day oath but did have the ceremony about 4 days later. It's been 6 days since my husband's appointment and still no notice on scheduling.
Congrats @jolyn69 and good luck tomorrow @LaLily and @marofams!

Thanks, there seem to be a few options in south King county. Did you hear back about Oath ceremony? I'm wondering if it's going to be in Portland or Seattle, I have my interview in Portland next month.
You're welcome! I was relieved to find some, although I'm hoping the oath ceremony will be sooner and I am able to find a sooner appointment as we have scheduled to be out of the country in August. Still haven't heard anything about the oath ceremony, the account still says "waiting for oath ceremony to be scheduled" or something like that. Hoping it'll update this week. I know there are two others with Portland appointments this week too.

I know people have been having a hard time finding available passport appointments. There are a few appointments available in Covington, Sumner and the Evergreen branch in Tacoma on June 21st! Was just able to snag one, thought I'd pass the info along.

Didn't you mention he was offered the oath, but later that day? And you didn't want to hang around Portland all day. Or maybe I misread it?
I am going in 3 weeks... Hopefully don't have to go to Portland twice.
The officer mentioned there was an oath ceremony later in the day but didn't actually give my husband the option of going to it, he just said we'd get a notification in the mail and he hoped we wouldn't have to come all the way back down there. Interested to see if other Portland people are given the option though!

@kels430Congratulations to you and your husband! I have my interview next Wednesday the 26 of May also in Portland and really hoping for a same day oath option. Since only the interviewee can attend I will either have my husband drop me off or drive myself while my husband waits at the hotel are you able to share what the parking situation is like? Thanks in advance.
We parked on street using a parking app that Portland uses called "Parking Kitty", but there was also a parking lot across the street to the west that you can park in. We didn't have any problem finding parking.

We had our appointment yesterday in Portland and my husband was not offered same day oath. I believe there is someone else in this thread who has an appointment today or tomorrow who will hopefully share if they were offered it or not. The officer said we would potentially have to go back to Portland for the oath but that Seattle was also a possibility. Now just waiting for it to be scheduled and show up on our account.

My husband had his appointment in Portland this morning! His appointment was for 10:55am, he went in at 10:40am and was out by 11:30am. He said the officer was very friendly and put him at ease. They went over his N-400, did the civics test and English tests and he was told he passed! 🥳Downside is that they didn't offer same day oath and the officer said we'll have to wait for a notification on day/time/place as it could be in Portland again or (hopefully) Seattle. The officer mentioned that they were doing an oath ceremony later in the day but said it didn't make sense for us to wait around Portland all day for it. He also asked my husband how long it had been since he did his biometrics as his fingerprints were not in his file (did them January 2020) and that he would get that handled. Hopefully my husband doesn't have to do go back in for fingerprints.
Just wanted to update everyone since I believe we were one of the first in Seattle to be sent to Portland and I know many were interested in if same day oath was being offered. I'm sure I forgot something so let me know if you have any other questions!

Yes! His appointment is at 10:55am tomorrow in Portland. I will make sure to come back and update on how it went and if same day oath was offered, here's to hoping it is! Thank you!!

All this talk of passports got me thinking... My husband would like to keep his Mexican citizenship and have dual citizenship. His appt is May 19th, and we plan on traveling back to Mexico two months later. Can we wait on the US passport since he will still have his Mexican passport? Thanks!
