  1. Your stepfather would be the Joint Sponsor. He will file an I-864 for you.

Your husband is the Petitioner/Primary Sponsor. He must file a separate I-864. He list his income as 0. He must provide a signed statement that he was not required to file US tax returns for the last 3 years because his income was below the threshold requiring him to file.

Everything is in the I-864 instructions.

Thanks a lot for your answer!

He had a very good job a year and a half ago so I am guessing that we have to list his current income as 0 and send the two last tax return he filed

  2. Hi,

I have been in the USA since August 6 2015. I entered with a K1 visa and got married in early september.
My husband and I (He is the Us citizen) are about to file for the AOS. My husband has currently no income. He hasnt had a stable/legal job for a while now and couldnt possibly sponsor me.
His father (We live at my husband's parents house) offered to be my sponsor.
Here is my question; Is his father my only sponsor? Will my husband need to file anything at all?

    Thank you

  3. Hello everyone!

I arrived in the us a month ago with my K1. We got married two weeks ago and now I,m starting to look at what is next.
I will apply for a social security number, I read that they ask for a birth certificate. Do they really? It will take a while to arrive to the US from France and I wouldn't want time to be wasted.
Can I apply for the AOS while waiting to receive my birth certificate or do I need a SSN to get the AOS paperwork started?

  4. Thank you all SO MUCH for all your help!

Just for the record, the guy on the phone was a complete ********* and lied entirely. I was not only allowed into the Consulate, but also at the interview!

Just a question... Our Case Status still says "Ready" after the interview. Is this normal?

    Thanks!

Did the interviewer said you were aproved ? :)

  5. Hello Curlies !!

  6. Congratulations! Do you have a date in mind for flying out yet?

Thank you! :) Congrats to you too!

My fiancé is coming in 8 days for a final visit and I'm going to the us on the 6 of august. I still have some things to do here and my wedding dress will only be ready to pick up in jully. Waiting until august will be easy now that I have my visa! :D

    When are you leaving?

Congratulations! Do you have a date in mind for flying out yet?

Thank you to all for your good wishes. I think I missed some of you out while struggling on the small screen on my phone the other day. Your support is appreciated. :)

Thank you! :) Congrats to you too!

L'endroit ouvre a 8h45.

  10. Yay! So pleased for you. You guys also had a ridiculously long wait. Things are pretty fast after this. The only other wait that frustrates you is waiting for an interview date and then I anticipate waiting for the visa to arrive, in hand, will be the final patience tester.

I'm thinking that waiting to receive the visa will be quite nice if the person that interview us tells us that we are approved! If the say nothing or something vague then waiting to receive your passeport would be horrible indeed

  11. I had to call the hotline of usvisa-info (website we have to log in to book an apointment for an interview) to get a simple answer about the payment of the fees. The person I had online was very confused about the process and didn't believe me when I told her that I had to book the interview online. I belive that the process used to be diferent but clearly it changed now and I don't know for you guys but I can speak for France. We receive instructions in the packet 3, telling us to book an apointment (we chose the date online) and pay the fees on usvisa-info.
The person I had online was not only not answering my question about the payment but was misleading me. She told me to contact the embassy and that they would be the ones to set the apointment and that it was the only way. She was rude and only had outdated informations. I tried to explain to her that there had been changes and that it didn't work like that anymore and she was just denying it. I hanged up and called again and got someone who had updated and helpful informations.

Long story short, if you have a problem with the website and you call them, all employees aren't very awware of how things work so do not hesitate to call back.

  12. Sorry guys for asking so many questions, but just to ask...

Do we need to wait for packet 3 for the medical interview? As my father died, I'm trying to get into the States as fast as possible, and I think the earlier the better for the medical exam; with our luck, who knows what problems could be?

Our case is currently at the NVC, K-1 visa...

I know that you can only book medical once your interview is booked. you should contact the embassy by email. They answer pretty quickly by email: Parisconlv@state.gov
