  1. OK, Just want to help encourage others waiting on the NVC that it is in fact possible to get a Case Closed! We finally received one for our daughter and are now awaiting an Interview date.

What was rather shocking is that it came via another CHECKLIST in an email at 1:30 AM EST. This was our second CHECKLIST on the AOS, the first time for not checking a box and not putting myself as a dependent (but totaling correctly), the online PDF wouldn't let me (had to write it in)! Needless to say when I first saw the 2nd CHECKLIST email at 5:30 am, while still in bed, I contemplated all the repercussions of another 60 plus delay before reading the content! How was I going to tell my spouse...our daughter...should I just go find a bridge?

The first item on the CHECKLIST indicated she was approved and an interview date was being set, but also she would need to bring another corrected I-864 with her to the interview. It warned not to send it in as it would re-open the case, even though there was a cover sheet etc.

The second item indicated the reason for the form re-do was that I added her name in part 3 as well! OK, stupid mistake on my behalf, however, done the same way on the first AOS but not mentioned in the first checklist. They say if it ain't broke don't fix it, certainly not the case here. Could of cost us another 60 Days, so we are grateful despite all the stress and pain thus far!

Moral of the story...It is possible to get a CC from a scan date in less than 60 days! Oh ya, and don't make the same stupid mistakes I made on the I-864!

  2. Regarding the text in bold and orange, the NVC is operated by a private company that has a contract with the US Department of State, the workers work for the company, not the State Department itself.

Regarding the text in bold and red, the NVC is not directly involved with the measures that are being referenced. The NVC's only functions are document intake for immigrant visa cased and routing of files to the proper Embassy/Consulate abroad.

Really, So you don't think government officials are charged with how the NVC is run? And you don't think they are getting calls or will be involved with illegal Immigrants? Interesting points of view

  3. I could be mistaken, but believe our fees are paying the salary's of the government folks running this place. The fact that they have forced Spanish on everyone that calls is an indication that the Administration in their recent free for all grand plan has forced the NVC to deal with illegal immigrants that have paid nothing and are plain and simple illegal!

The fact that they say they have made improvements to the phone system to better serve is purely an all out effort to further detour those who are legally pursuing immigration of their loved and who have paid the fees from making it to the front of the line.

  4. FINALLY! I got a cc!!! I got through after about 5 tries and held for 30 something minutes. I spoke to Ivy, she was a nice rep. She congratulated me and wished me good luck.

She said interviews for February are full but March interview scheduling will begin in two weeks, so call back mid February. Hopefully I will have an interview for late March.

Thanks to everyone who answered questions and wished me the best.

Good luck to everyone waiting for a cc.

Scan date was 11/26 for AOS checklist.

Congrats! Just got through reading the end of this thread and was following your 60 day journey and was very happy to see your CC. We are within 9 days of 60 from a checklist scan for our daughter (obviously driving us crazy) and it was great to see it is possible to get a CC!

  5. OK, While I assume NVC is closed today due to weather, you would think someone could put that in the phone message up front! After listening to menu choices in English and Spanish for about 3 minutes you press the option and are abruptly told they are closed and to call back during business hours.

So what's with the Spanish without a prompt to either do English or Spanish???

And they think the new phone system is an improvement - where is the accountability for this agency???

  6. It seems based on your experience the NVC's new system is successful in allowing fewer calls to get through. I question why they even have a phone system. A majority who report their experience in calling indicate no real support was given. They need to fix this by increasing their resources in-line with the fees we have paid, or just shut the door on all new applicants until they can take care of what is in the system! Oh but wait, they have got to work on all the non-funded associated visa activities blessed on them by the current administration. You would think our fees paid would allow an individual to review and process the cases that have already been reviewed and approved by USCIS in about 15 minutes, not going on in our case 5 months!

  7. Be patient I think maybe the best advice at this point in time when dealing with the NVC. My stepdaughter's NAO2 was in September with being able to take the first step with NVC in October. All fees, forms and documents were done months ago. Anytime you do anything with them they send a 60 day letter saying it will take them that long to review. Being prompt and accurate when completing the forms and paying the fees will help, however, the best I can tell it is going to take us 6 months to get through the process. They sent a letter over 2 months ago to give them another email for her, when the one submitted on the forms was correct. But, I resent anyway the day I got the letter via the email they told me to use. Over 60 days later they sent me a note telling me they got the email, but would take another 60 days to review.

  8. It is evident that the NVC is in serious disarray and is getting worse by the day despite them claiming late last year they were staffing up to handle the USCIS load. You would think that government officials have been alerted to this mess and would address it. My guess is there is little interest on behalf of those that are able to promote change to do anything. I would further venture to say the majority of America could care less and in fact most would say so what! There has probably been budget cuts on top of the current administration's decisions that do not comprehend the further burden on the current system.

It is somewhat interesting that with all the pain revealed by those trying to get their loved ones through the process, I have seen absolutely no comments in the same regard on Twitter under #NVC or National Visa Center. If everyone involved started lighting up twitter in this regard, possibly it would be easier to acquire news coverage and change.

Our Government, through the actions of the NVC, or lack thereof, is showing complete disrespect for those of us who have followed the process and paid the fees according to their own policies and requirements. At the same time, illegal immigrants are being granted amnesty on the shoulders of the current system even though they have not paid a dime or filed a document and have literally broke the law. Within a month the state of California decided to hire an additional 800 people to process licences for the illegals (no waiting here) yet the government can not staff up to handle the ongoing mess at the NVC.

  9. The way people are being treated in the system, whether at USCIC or the NVC is nothing short of a complete disrespect for the individual and their loved ones. We have been working on getting my South Korean stepdaughter to the US since she was 16 and she turned 18 last month and is still tangled up at the NVC since September. We jumped on every step in the process paying the fees and filing the documents within days of being able to do so.

Yesterday I received a letter in the mail telling me they we received the email change for her that they requested over 60 days ago that was submitted the same day we received the request even though there was nothing wrong with her email supplied previously. They say they need another 60 days to look at it after taking over 60 days to find it. These people must go home at night proud how they are messing with us and our loved ones! And worst yet... nobody cares in Washington that is able to improve upon it! While the NVC claimed they were staffing up last year, things continue to get worse according to the statistics on this site. Oh but wait, California announced hiring 800 additional staff members to process licenses for illegal immigrants who have not every filed a form or paid a dime in fees!

For God Sake we are talking about a young lady who needs her mother and our support who has been approved by USCIS (after 11 months) and a case without blemish caught up in a system that has no care for human dignity!

God Bless All for Their Patience and Best Wishes for Expedient Processing of Your Case!

  10. This is an absolute crime that nobody really cares about and little that any of us can do about. Got a check list for my step daughter last week for a nit-picking omission of a box not being checked even though the answer was obvious and I did not total a column. It's been a few months since the NVC was sent the case and they are still saying they can not read the mail for 60 days! This is unlike anything I have ever experienced as one usually does not go back to the back of the line when they have already waited for months!

Hope things get better, but they appear to be getting worse despite them saying they are staffing up! Hope things work out for you soon. There appears that there is a lot of folks in this bucket!

  11. There is simply no accountability by the NVC to process cases in a reasonable amount of time. Quite Frankly nobody in power cares unless it is a relation to theirs that needs to be processed. Of course this appears to be no different than other parts of Government being managed by the current administration. The whole issue appears to be getting worse versus better even though the NVC in a communication last week indicated they were staffing up. Possibly they are just playing a game in relation to the overall immigration system and the arrogant incompetence of the president in relation to his latest go it alone "screw what American's want policies".

I do hope your case is processed soon, as in the case of many others, you have done your pain in waiting!

  12. Believe the best advice is to get your ducks in a row being prepared to pay the fees and fill out the online forms and sending in the documentation. Each steps takes more time. Hopefully your wait will be short to get things rolling, ours was about 3 Weeks to get a case number and invoice and a few additional days for the site to be loaded. Many folks suggest you call as 2 weeks approaches to see if you can get the numbers, but it made no difference in our case as the website was not ready with the info until we were notified anyway. Calling can be a true source of frustration and in raising the anxiety level. Getting through and waiting for basically a clerk who really can do nothing is nothing but a problematic type affair. Right now for most the NVC is pretty jammed up with many waiting for 5 months or more from NAO2 to Interview. In the case of NVC being notified it is more about NVC recognizing they have the NAO2. They know they have a problem and have communicated it as recent as last week and are saying they are trying to staff up. Hopefully it starts getting better before it gets any worst. Congrats on getting through the first half!

  13. Found this posted on Twitter by an Attorney, unfortunately there are too many of us that are painfully aware! National Visa Center Provides Updates on Internal Processing By Jennifer Blloshmi* on November 17, 2014Posted in Visas

The National Visa Center (NVC), in operation now for 20 years, is the U.S. Department of State agency responsible for pre-processing approved immigrant visas that include immigration based on: family and employment sponsorship, diversity visas and special immigrant visas. This month, the NVC met with the American Immigrant Lawyer’s Association and provided insight into its increased processing times, announced Fiscal Year statistics, and reported expected changes in 2015.

The NVC noted that during this year it started to receive 25,000 immigrant cases per week as opposed to roughly 8,000 cases as a result of USCIS working through its I-130, Immigrant Petition for Alien Relative application backlog. Due to this increase in volume, timing for case creation and document review increased, which is being addressed through staff adjustments. The NVC provided statistics for Fiscal Year 2014 including: it received 709,000 cases from USCIS, shipped 349,000 cases to various Consular Posts worldwide, and received 1.6 million calls. With respect to future changes, the NVC reported that early in 2015 it will start handling telephone inquiries regarding non-immigrant visa cases.

In light of this upcoming change, its telephone system will be updated to accommodate the increase in calls by next February. Another update in 2015 involves the NVC’s change from paper-based applications to electronic processing, a process that has been tested by select consular posts since 2008. Software to enable this is being developed for full roll-out sometime late next year. Other topics addressed included: visa retrogression, aging-out children, best contact information for the NVC, and immigrant visa applications that are erroneously terminated by the NVC when the applicant does not make contact on a case within 1 year of being notified of visa availability.

  14. Your story really sucks and your passion to resolve is admirable. Keep standing... its the only way right now. The issue I believe you are up against is probably the the mass majority of American's could give a care about us folk. Probably the lowest priority within today's current system. If there is any focus at all it will be about the Immigration chaos (having mostly to deal with Mexican Illegals) Obama is about to barf. Would think putting your head down and plowing through it would be your best choice, but you should always seek professional legal advice, oh but by the way there are so many attorneys that will take your money that will tell you what you want to hear.
