  1. You can search the Immigration Timelines to get a general idea of how long it will take to get to the interview. I did a quick look and it looks like about 60 days from when they receive the approved I-129F to interview. You should search to get a better idea.

You will receive a checklist on packet 3 with all the instructions and some additional forms. After submitting this forms, you will receive an interview date and how to get the medical exam and police reports.

Hopefully someone that went thru the same Consulate will be of more help. Congrats and getting approved and good luck on the rest of your journey

  2. I was able to go to the interview with Elaina in April and brought back a suitcase full of her clothes. She traveled here last week with just her baggage allowance (2 bags) and 1 carry-on. Since the weather has been cool (she thinks cold) here in New York we did have to purchase some new clothes for her (which she seemed to enjoty). We are planning on visiting her family in January (hope the AOS and/or AP goes well) and will bring the rest of her stuff back then. We might have her family ship a few things since she thought she could wait for them but has decided she would like to have them here now. When I find out anything about shipping, I will port it here.

  3. As others have said, a lot depends on if you are allowed in the interview are not. I attended the interview in Rio with Elaina but I think it really didn't matter if I was there or not. Are case was pretty straight forward. Neither one of us have been married before or had any children. I was only asked if I like Recife and what I did for work (but I don't think he was even listening since he stamped approved right as I started to answer). The main reasons I went were to see Elaina (I missed her a lot), to provide moral support (she had never traveled before), and to see Rio (never been there before). We had a nice week in Rio and now are having a wonderful time together in New York. I guess if you can go, go for it. If you can't, things should still work out if you have done everything correctly. Just my two cents.

  4. I have never tried to call the Consulate so I am not sure what the normal wait time is.

I have been e-mailing the Consulate over the past 8 weeks (the last time was 10 days ago) and they have answered in as short as 2 hours and as long as 8 days (which happens to be the last time I wrote). Did you receive their auto response saying they will respond in 7-10 days?

Hopefully this helps a little. They should get back to you in the next few days.
