  1. My husband had a relatively easy time finding a job. Took about two months. Only had one employer that didn't seem to know what the EAD was, and didn't want to hire him.

He complains about the traffic and the drivers.

He's still getting used to the weather being warm in December, but likes not having to shovel snow. His co-workers have been very receptive to him, and there's plenty to do, which makes it easy, imo, to meet people. :)

  2. When he had the Visa, and we knew when he was coming, I reserved an indoor pavilion at a local botanical gardens. My sister had actually gotten herself ordained on the internet, so she could perform our ceremony. I purchased a cocktail dress on eBay a couple months before, and employed my friends around town who do hair, cakes, and flowers. My sisters and other friends were more than happy to help me day of with set up and picking up flowers and such.

He arrived on Friday, and the week before we bought him a suit (without the jacket) off the rack at a department store, and purchased the products we needed, like plates and such, and we picked up our license. One of my sisters works at Olive Garden and was able to get us a discount on food, so we had some light snacks. Ceremony went down in a shady spot in the park, everyone had fun!
Was simple, wonderful, and went down two weeks after he arrived. :)

Best wishes to you guys! :)

  3. Hi all,

I filed my AOS July 1st and I have not heard anything about interview being waived or scheduled yet :clock: . Most of people who filed with me got either their interview or their interview was waived. What should I do

We're early July filers too and have heard nothing since we returned our RFE in August. But my local office seems to be running slow. Dunno if there's much of anything we can do besides wait. :/

  4. Again, nothing to freak out about. They do respond. Like Catherine said, there's a strong possibility you won't have the CBP officer. That was one incident on these forums, and there are many Canadians who pass through with no issues.
I'm a huge worrier and control freak too. But with this process there are many things we have to let go of. There's always a chance something bad could happen, but there's as much of a chance that everything will go swimmingly. Panicking solves nothing, but if something does go wrong, you deal with it head on.
So take a couple deep breaths, smile, and know that nothing will happen that can't be fixed. :)

  5. You can't call the Montreal consulate. You can only email them. They can be slow to respond (took them 3 business days to respond to us once *Iwantedtoscream*) so I would recommend emailing them as soon as possible. You'll pick up your passport from Loomis, not from the Consulate, so Loomis won't be able to help much.

    Best wishes. :)

  6. Great .. Request for initial evidence . Is that the same as an RFE ? Cus I know last time I called I was told there is request for evidence and request for initial evidence but I don't remember the difference

I'm so drained . This is the 3rd RFE. My only hope is that at least they aren't denying it

I am so, so sorry. I hope its something different.

Why you continue to get these RFE? Is it the same affidavit of support? You need to get it right this time. I hope I can assist you because it must be real hard on you getting all those RFE. I don't think there is much of a difference between the two. However i think the Request for initial evidence is simply asking for SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS IN THE INSTRUCTION FROM USCIS. I maybe wrong but please follow the instructions....

She doesn't know what the RFE is yet. I'm sure she's doing her best to follow all instructions to the best of her abilities, and has been getting help from everyone on the forum.

  7. I had never been to Aldi before he got here, but I dig it. I'd be a bad Floridian though, if I abandoned Publix completely. Which is another thing I've gotten him hooked on. He enjoys the subs, cakes, and free Wifi at our local Publix stores.
He's gotten really into some of the Tampa foods. He'd eat Cuban sandwiches and deviled crabs everyday.

Gas prices in my area are usually lower than the national average. So for him, coming down, it was much cheaper than Canada.
