  1. A little Background info; My wife arrived in the U.S. on a K1 visa. We recently applied for AOS, and did not supply the I-693 (I did submit the DS-3025). Her medical was over a year old to my knowledge (Med from the K1 done Jan 2015, applied for AOS April 2016)... and that's what i'm worried about. I was expecting an RFE for the medical but didn't receive one. We received an NOA "Request for applicant to appear for initial Interview". Just a few Questions,

    1. Does "Initial" interview suggest there will be more than one interview?

2.On the NOA It says to bring a completed medical examination(I-693) and Vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted) . For this would it be wise just to get a new medical examination done , even though I have already submitted the DS-3025, and have never recieved a RFE?

during my AOS application, i only sent the ds-3025 which my medical is still valid since i have it july 2015. in the interview notice letter, it says there medical from a civil surgeon UNLESS submitted already. Since i wanna make sure the interview will go smooth i did the medical before the interview, and that was the very first question they ask me during my interview. glad i have it. i was approved on the spot. so i suggest. rather do the medical besides its listed on the requirement.

  2. Congrats on your GC approval :)

How was the interview like ? :)

    thanks.

the interview was very easy and quick. it was just 5 minutes.

they just ask my name, birthday, parents first name. my maiden name? if i ever been arrested. ? and my husbands job?

she also ask my vaccination but glad i did get my medical from civil surgeon a day before my interview so there would be no more delays. so thats it! i was approved on the spot. they didnt ask for any documents at all.

  3. If you don't mind me asking do you know how long it took them to give you the letter that tells you the interview date?

i didnt recieve any letter yet.. it just says in the uscis case check online.

  4. Hi All,

My wife entered the US on a K-1 visa this past December. We got married at the end of January and filed AOS in February. Searched the forums for advice/tips and followed the guides on VJ to prepare the paperwork. We found out today that her AOS was approved without an interview and should have her Green Card soon.

We were expecting EAD and AP to take 3 months and AOS approved in 6-12 months. What a pleasant surprise to have AOS approved in a month and a half

This is a great site! So much information and everything you need to know about the visa process regardless of the type of visa you are applying for.

    Thanks again VJ!!!

congratulations!!!! hope we're lucky as you are...

when did you filed? and when is your bio schedule?

  5. Yep, like I said, we successfully received all NOAs and the biometrics letter at our current location. No idea why they suddenly have a problem with our address. Did your status change after your biometrics appointment?

nothing yet. i just finished my bio last friday.. well maybe its just technical issues. i did have this same issue during k1 process but it did change to approval after few weeks. so i guess nothing to worry.

  6. Checked I-485 case status this morning and it changed to "Notice was returned to USCIS because the post office could not deliver it." It says "This could have a serious effect on your case." I immediately called USCIS, but they were unable to do anything since my last service request was less than 30 days ago (when they failed to inform my husband of his biometrics appointment, so not our fault). I have no idea what could have possibly been sent out, we were only expecting the 2nd biometrics letter which we got in the mail already. The USCIS representative I spoke to can't see what notice was sent, but he thinks they accidentally sent out another biometrics letter. I don't know how that failed to be delivered considering we successfully received all our NOAs and the 2nd biometrics letter at the same address. Is it possible to receive another RFE? I don't know. I am so frustrated with this process.

hi i received the same status for my EAD. But the thing is i never received my EAD noa letter but im done with my biometrics.. do you received noa for your I-485?
