  1. I am hoping to get a Greek passport. I've done all the paperwork, my parents registered me in Greece as their child (I was not born there) and I've filled out papers with the appropriate consulate that I am not married. So, I'd like to go ahead and get it while the gettin' is good and have the EC as part of my oyster too.

But this will mean I'll have both a Canadian and a Greek passport when I apply for my VISA. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? Would it be better to wait until the process is over before I go get my other passport, and can I even do that?

Just thought maybe there was someone else out there with dual citizenship, and perhaps you've already filled out all the forms, experienced trouble etc.

If it will mean a big hassle, I won't bother.

  2. are we talking copies to prove citizenship, or copies for the stamps to prove visits?

To prove citizenship, you would need to copy every page.

To use as evidence.. I'm not sure. I hope not. I'd rather not send in the pages with my China visa... although I suppose that doesn't really matter.

How do you certify them as true copies, BTW?

  3. I hadn't thought about it that much, until he kept bringing it up as a concern.

He lives in a small city, in a suburb type area. A nice place, and I'll be very happy to be there with him. I am just not used to the concept of not being able to walk everywhere... I guess I'll invest in a treadmill or something!

And congratulations ddurkin - on being together finally!

  4. I've already converted my US man to the charms of the duvet.

And I've always made my own covers. Two flat sheets sewn together, mixed and matched as I please!

    That's a great idea!!!

and cheap when you get them on sale. No fancy additions like buttons or ribbons or things to get in the way of a good wash either. Just use some velcro or snaps on the bottom opening (or be lazy like me and just leave a hole!)

PS - most duvet and duvet cover needs can be met at IKEA, in a pinch.

  5. OK, this is all anticipatory whining since we haven't even filed yet, but...

I fear one adjustment only. And I might not have been afraid of it if my fella weren't so afraid of it on my behalf and constantly bringing it up....

    Driving everywhere.

Not that I can't drive, but I am used to walking everywhere. I'm an urban girl, and I have everything I could possibly need within three blocks of my home. Bank, starbucks, ethnic food, liquor stores, gym, grocers, movie theatre, even an upscale sex shop! But I don't have my honey.

I will adjust, but it will be annoying to have to pull out of the driveway and go find a mall to get some cream for my coffee.

My sister lives in the US, and when I visit her, I feel like I am a prisoner in her car. We even hit a drive-thru to do her banking!! :)

I guess it all depends on where you live. Not everyone is in the suburbs!

  6. I travelled monthly to DC while our cr-1 was in progress. I never had 1 problem, but thats just my experience, others have been denied entry. Be honest, answer the officers truthfully, but dont add on to much!! Try not be nervous, have proof of ties to Canada(letter fromemployer, lease, etc) Do not have lots of luggage! And have aplan in case you do get denied entry!! A few people that I have read that have been denied, it did not cause any problems at the interview, but again, all depends on why u were denied! Just my 2 cents!!

I've noted that on this topic, people often say "be honest, but don't offer too much if not asked". Do you offer that you have applied for a K-1 visa? Do you refer to your fiance as your fiance or boyfriend? No one has been specific about this!

  7. Our RFE was to provide more supporting evidence we had met within the past 2 years....

So what did you send at first? Just curious as I'm about to send my petition to Nebraska.... :star:

Yes, I am curious too. Though we've met up on average every 5 weeks for 4 years (with a 5 month break up in there that I am going to gloss over) neither of us kept any boarding passes or tickets. We can scrounge up itineraries for the past couple of trips... hope that will be enough as far as that goes. I have lots of stamps in my passport, but no way to really prove that I was seeing HIM specifically... and photos, but again, we've been bad at taking pictures in the past 2 years. The last photo taken of us was in October 2004!!

  8. this may be a dumb question, but I am a little confused...

The form I just downloaded from USCIS says inthe insturctions that the photo should be 3/4 frontal view, but all the other info on their site says the photos are full frontal.

When I asked for a US passport photo at the photo shop, they gave me the full frontal... so that is what I have. Is that what people who have recently applied provided as well?

sorry for asking so many questions - I feel nervous today!

  9. now I am confused too!! :help:

I've been following the guide, and now I hear that I don't actually need to supply evidence of ongoing relationship like it claims I do - no emails, phone bills etc. Though I am sure it won't hurt - I don't want to slow things down if all they need are photos and prrof of visits...

And good to know the photos just follow the G325As in the pile.. I had them attached to each one!

But now I am wondering what else I have wrong...

for instance - what form is there to certify copies are true copies? I just wrote that into my cover letter.. and what exactly is an I-130? Since I have never heard of it, can I assume it doesn't appy to me? :)

  10. Therefore I have stayed in Canada since. Despite the fact that I crossed the border almost weekly for the previous 8 months, that one day I got one a$$hole border guard who was having a bad day, and now I can no longer cross to see my fiancee. That was June of last year. Still waiting.

Well that is a scary story. But am I missing something here? At the bottom of your post, it says you sent in the K-1 application this past November, but you say you were barred from entering in June? So it had nothing to do with your trying to cross the border with a K-1 pending, it was just a bad border guy draw... wow!

  11. good luck! :)

I am just starting to fill the forms out. Maybe since you've already done so you can answer a question for me? at the bottom of the biographical form, it says the applicant should fill in their name in the black bordered box. Does the US citizen put their name in it, the name of the fiancee, or leave it blank? I can't quite figure it out!
