The Congress Parkway office is for USCIS administration, it's not an Application Support Center. You can visit this page to see the closest ASC to you. There were ones on the north and south sides of Chicago (I've been to both), but I'm guessing those offices have been closed down.

Oath went very well! There were 129 candidates from 38 countries. I didn't know @Waitinggame16 was the same day as me... would have said hello, lol. Anyway, it's glad to be done, and good luck to the rest still waiting!

On Friday (03/30), I got notice that my oath ceremony has been scheduled, and today I checked the USCIS My Account and saw the notice was posted online. My oath ceremony will be on 04/16/2018.

The same day of my interview, my status changed to something like "You have attended your interview and we reviewing your case. If we need anything more from you, we'll contact you". Then the next day it changed to "We approved your application and placed you in line for oath ceremony".

How long after your interview did you move in line for oath ?

Actually my online account still says "We approved your application". It's only on the case status update that says "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled". But for the latter, it changed status the day after my application was approved (so around 2/27). And surely at this point it shouldn't matter whether you were paper or online filer?

When I had my interview, the IO told me to make myself available for the oath ceremony in 30-40 days time (from case approval, which for me was on the same day as interview). Perhaps Chicago just has a high load of oath-takers right now, and the IO knew this, so told me that it would take about a month.

Does anybody know how frequently Chicago has oath ceremonies?

When my wife had her Oath I have asked the workers and they told me that it is roughly 1000 people per week (in Chicago). Seems a lot, but I could easily estimate (eyeballing) a number of 100-200 people in the room - I just could not know who is becoming a citizen and who is a family member (as I was).

When I went for my interview, there was also an oath ceremony happening, and I counted about 100 people (10 seats per row x 10 rows). There were actual oath candidates, not including family/spectators.

So I went for my interview yesterday...

Short story: Everything went well, and I was recommended for approval

Long story: My interview was scheduled for 8:00 am at the Chicago field office. I arrived at 8:01 am, and got checked in at 8:03 am. The person at the check in desk hands you a slip with a number, to which you have to listen when that number is called. After only waiting for about 10 minutes, my number got called and I walked with the IO to her office. She then told me raise my hand and swear to tell the truth, etc. We sat down and she asked to see my green card, driver's license, and current passport. We then started with the civics questions. The questions I got asked were:

8. What did the Declaration of Independence do?
13. Name one branch or part of the government.*
19. We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?
31. If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
35. What does the President’s Cabinet do?
39. How many justices are on the Supreme Court?

The reading part of the test was to read the sentence "When is Columbus Day?". The written part of the test was to write: "Columbus Day is in October". She then proceeded to ask me questions about my application: My legal name, social security number, place of birth, occupation, home address, etc. Then she asked the yes/no questions.

She then said that she is recommending my application for approval, and should make myself available for the oath ceremony in 30-40 days time.

All in all, the interview took about 30 minutes. As I walked out of the interview room (and to the general waiting area), I saw that there were a group of people getting ready for their oath ceremony. So I stuck around a little bit longer to see that process, knowing I would be going through it in a little while.

Something worth noting: The civics questions which the IO asked me were from a printed page that was included in my file. This means to say that your questions are chosen long before your interview date, and not as I previously thought that the IO has the list of 100 questions and chooses which 6-10 to ask you. Also, none of the additional paperwork/evidence I brought was asked for (but of course you should still bring yours).

I checked my online case status this morning, and the status had changed to approved. So now I'm just waiting for the date of the oath ceremony, and the ceremony itself.

N-400 Fields

GC-Date: The 'Resident Since' Date located on your first green card.
Sent: Date N-400 was mailed to USCIS.
Cashd: Date your check was cashed / credit card was charged by USCIS.
NOA: Receipt Notice Date Printed on your official I-797 notification.
Fprints: Date assigned for fingerprinting (Bio-metrics). If you do your biometrics via walk-in prior to your scheduled appointment, please enter the date in bold blue.
In Line: Date you received e-notification about the start of your interview scheduling.
Int Ltr: Date you received the official letter in the mail regarding interview.
Interview: Date of your interview.
Oath: Date Oath taken.

Field Office: Your local USCIS office where you will have the N-400 interview. You can determine your field office here.

NBC: National Benefits Center

IOE: ELIS (efile)

ECD: Estimated completion date as reported in USCIS website for your case

I-751 Fields

I751M/Y: Month and Year of I-751 filing

CSC\VSC: Filed at CSC or VSC

Apprvd: If I-751 is approved. Yes or Waiting.

I only have a copy of my US spouse birth certificate, not the original. Would that still be alright? Could I also bring her passport to show she is a citizen?
