Hello. I was just reviewing your timeline. I noticed your POE was in Canada rather than the US. Why is that? Just curious. Thanks!

Hi there,
The US has agreements with some countries to have customs in the airport before they fly, Canada included. This means you go through customs and secondary to activate your visa before you even board your flight, and then afterwards you enter a U.S. Pre-clearance area of the airport and from there on out, the flight is basically U.S. Domestic. This means that the moment you land, you can go pick up your luggage and be on your way without having to check into customs or with a CBP officer, as you just did before your flight in your home country.
