Have you tried putting a SR? That's what's upsetting. People who filed after us got theirs already.
How do you file infopass? Will it expedite the GC process?
Yes, we did about 3 or 4 service requests - they did nothing at all except tell us that due to factors not related to our case, there is a delay in processing our case. NO !
To schedule an infopass appointment, you can visit this website: https://my.uscis.gov/appointment. It does nothing to expedite the process - we've already had about 4 of these appointments to find out what the hell is going on. They were slightly helpful because they can give more information than a phone call, but they don't really do anything to speed up the process. Just gives a little peace of mind when stuck in the processing black hole! The one thing they were super helpful with, though, was when our renewal EAD/AP was taking a long time and we had a trip to Germany scheduled - they were able to give us an expedited Advance Parole so we were able to go on our trip. We ended up not needing it anyway, however, as the combo card arrived just in time.

I made this post to see if there are some people like me who's been left behind with the AOS (I-485) processing.
Leave your:
- Filing date
- Last Update
- Date of last update
- Field Office
- Waiting time
It's a misery seeing people get approved and see my case without any updates for months now.
Anyway, let's not lose hope and still pray for the best that our turn for our GC will come soon.
- Filing date: May 27, 2016
- Last Update: Fingerprint fee received
- Date of last update: June 1, 2016
- Field Office: Jacksonville, FL
- Waiting time: Day 160 as of Nov 3, 2016
This might make you feel less miserable - we filed June 4, 2015. Yes, that means we've been waiting for 17 months now. My poor husband is absolutely sick of waiting and it's a constant source of stress.
Filing date: June 4, 2015
Last update: Fingerprint fee received
Date of last update: June 4, 2015
Field Office: Washington, DC - however, our case was never there. We got a Notice of Potential Interview Waiver letter in September 2015. Our case was at the National Benefits Center until July 2016 when it was transferred to the Reno, NV office. We did an infopass appt last month and we were told the file was touched in September.
Waiting Time: 17 goddamn months.
-
I filed 16 months ago, still waiting...
-
This has been a common and widespread problem. It happened to us with our renewal EAD and AP receipt numbers. They did not work until they were approved.
-
Expect it to take around 90 days. They are sloooowwwww right now!
-
We are in DC, and we just found out a couple of weeks ago that our case was being transferred to Reno, NV! We applied in June 2015 and received an interview waiver letter, though.
-
The card and the approval letter arrived on the same day.
Our online status looked like yours - first it said the card was being ordered, then the next day it changed to say it was approved.
Did you get an approval letter before the card? If yes, how many days after the approval?
-
For us, it took a week - Card was ordered on July 22, and we received it July 29.
Thankfully my EAD got approved yesterday and I'm very happy. I have to join my new job on august 9th (today is august 2nd). How long will USCIS take to mail me my card? Getting worried now. I havent received my Approval notice yet.
When I check the case status it says "New card was ordered" and then it says "Case was approved".
Thanks.

My husband went to an infopass appointment today and found out that about 12 days ago our case was transferred from NBC to the Reno, NV office (our local field office is Washington, DC). We filed June 2015 and got a waiver letter September 2015, but haven't had any movement on the case whatsoever since filing. We are hopeful that this means something will be happening soon!
-
Wait...are you saying that if your case is sent to NBC in Missouri, that there is a good chance for an approval without an interview? Ours is there, so I'm just curious where you got that information. It hasn't been transferred to our local office, yet. We've gotten the EAD and are waiting on a decision or interview notification. This sounds very encouraging!
I hate to burst your bubble, but I used to feel that way before we were waiting for 13+ months. At this point, we'd love to have an interview.
-
unfortunately, the field office processing times are irrelevant for those of us who got the golden ticket - interview waiver - and are stuck at the NBC forever. 13 months for us so far.
-
for what it's worth, our case is at the NBC, we got a waiver letter back in September, and we've been waiting 13 months now...
-
-
Yes, we are from DC but our case is (STILL) at NBC - we filed a year ago tomorrow, and in September we received a Notification of Potential Interview Waiver letter. Still waiting for the green card... I can't believe it's been a year already! GRRRRR!!!!
-
Wow that is reallll long!!! Have you called them to see whats holding you up?? Seems so unreal to me, almost a year with a waiver and all
Yes, we have called, we've had two infopass appointments, we've filed 3 service requests... all to just be told the same thing; that there is a huge backlog ("factors not related to your case") and it's taking a very long time to complete all the background checks. They said once that part of the process is finished, what remains only takes about "an hour" of work. It's incredibly frustrating, but apparently not that unusual for NPIW cases, according to what I've read on that huge NPIW thread here on VisaJourney.
-
Thank you. Much appreciated
What Hypnos said. We didn't pay a fee, and we made sure to send in the application well in advance knowing how sloooowwwwwww USCIS is!
-
Did you receive a Notice of Potential Interview Waiver letter? If so, your case is still at the National Benefits Center. We got the waiver letter in September, and that's where ours has been since June of 2015. They are certainly taking their sweet time! We had to send in applications to renew my husband's employment authorization and advance parole.
-
Sounds like you are in the exact same boat as we are. We were shocked to find that they are still doing the background checks. We will have to renew the work authorization and advance parole, but it is my understanding that you don't have to pay the fee again if you submit your NOA along with the application. Perhaps I'm wrong about this, but I certainly hope not! It would be infuriating to have to pay that because of their lack of speed and efficiency. I filed another service request on March 22 which hasn't even been assigned for processing yet, and we made another infopass appointment for the 15th. I'm hoping that continuing to poke them will help, but we'll have to see about that.
So we had an in-person appointment this last Friday, and unbelievably, the package is still (no kidding) at the National Benefits Center and in the initial review period. I'm in awe at the lack of ability to move these documents, and I work for the government. They said that we had the option - if it gets that late - to apply for another work authorization (and pay another fee) while we're waiting - because they haven't gotten their act together enough to do their work in a timely manner. The guy actually said to us, "if it makes you feel any better, some people wait 8 years to get their spouses over here."
Yeah, no, it doesn't.
So we wait.
I hope others are having more luck than we are.
-
Still waiting...can't seem to get any answer either as to what the holdup is, where the package is, anything. Our 1 year anniversary of marriage is coming up in less than a month and we're beginning to wonder if he's ever going to be able to get a good job again. SIGH. Anyone else out there who sent in their information in early June that's still waiting?
Yes, we are still waiting! Since it has now been 6 months and 10 days since we received the NPIW letter, we scheduled an infopass appointment to see what is up. Also, we realized that when my husband went through the POE at dulles, customs and border patrol did not keep the "sealed envelope"and it is still in our possession, so we wondered if that might be holding things up. Well, according to the man we spoke to today, our case is still held up at the National center and hasn't even made it to the DC field office yet. He called someone there and they told him it is still going through some background checks but once that is done it will take "an hour" to finish up the case. Crazy! And he told us to mail the sealed envelope there so they can reunite it with the rest of the file. This is getting pretty damn frustrating, especially considering it's now been a little more than a year since his medical exam in Germany. Grrrrr...
-
I received the approval notice! It was dated from 23rd of December.
It says I will received my Permanent Resident Card (2 years) under 3 weeks. So I guess I don't need an interview yeah!
My online status still says "fingerprint fee received"
Merry christmas to all and I hope you won't wait too long.
It's encouraging to see an approval from the DC office - had you received a Notification of Potential Interview Waiver or did this just come out of the blue? Our timelines are very similar... hoping we get similar results soon!
-
The best bet is to call USCIS and ask for your case status. I hope to hear something sooner than January 5th. My medical results expire in February and to be honest i dont want to repeat them and spend any additional $$$.
Yes, we are also concerned about the potential of the medical exam expiring. It's ridiculous to think that it would be necessary to shell out even more money because of delays on THEIR end.
-
That is interesting to hear about a case being transferred from the DC office - wondering if there is any chance that happened for us as well. We are in the same boat - got the NPIW letter in September, but still seeing that damn fingerprint fee status from June 4. Argh.
-
Hi all,
My husband just received a letter in the mail (on 9/9/15) stating that USCIS identified his application as a potential "interview waiver" case, meaning they may not need to interview him to finish his application. This is awesome. He was super nervous about the interview since his English isn't the best under pressure. However, the letter also states "Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. Presently, we anticipate that delay to be approximately 6 months from the date of this letter". Not awesome.
I mean, it's not THAT big of a deal, just a small bummer about the delay.
Did anyone else get a letter like this? I'm curious if it's because of our local office or if it's a nationwide thing.
We received the same exact letter today, and we are from DC.

At 1:00 AM while we were sleeping, we got a text notification from USCIS that our case has been updated. We groggily logged in and were very excited to see that it was an approval notice! Woohoo!!! After being in the dark for so long at the Vermont center, this was a very nice surprise. Hang in there, fellow Vermonters! Things are happening!
