  1. Are you going to use AP while traveling?

We (well, my husband) will need it to get back in to the US after we are done. I don't know if it's kosher to have someone check our mail and send it to us while we are away as I'm guessing it will arrive shortly after we are supposed to leave (if it doesn't miraculously arrive before we have to go!).

arghhhhh! keeping my fingers tightly crossed that the card production process is extra speedy! :)

  2. Just checked the app (which I've been doing several times a day, of course) and was pleasantly surprised to find that we are approved!!! I-131 says "Approved" and I-765 says "New Card Is Being Produced." Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to make a call and request to pick it up in person? We have to travel soon and I'm concerned we won't receive it in the mail in enough time....

  3. Now that my case is in transit to the embassy, is it a good idea to start filling out forms (I'm thinking about these http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1forms)ahead of time, or should I wait for the embassy to tell me which forms they need? And, can I start the DS-160 now, but without submitting it?

Yes, you can get started on the DS-160 now, and it's a good idea to do so because it's a pretty lengthy application. Because you are able to save your progress and return to the application, my fiancé was able to complete the DS-160 before our case even got to Frankfurt, and simply submitted it as soon as he got the Packet 3.

  4. My fiancé received Packet 3 this morning! It took a week from the time our status showed as "ready." Unexpectedly, it came in paper form via snail mail, not as an email like we were told to expect by someone from NVC. Oh well! Thanks to everything we've learned from this wonderful site, we've got everything all ready to go and can send it all back either today or tomorrow. Another step closer and we couldn't be more excited (well, I guess we could... like for example once the visa is in hand! hahaha)!

  5. Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, but here goes. I checked CEAC status on Friday, the 20th, and it showed "Ready." My fiance still hasn't received anything although the status now shows that the case was last updated yesterday, the 24th. I'm just curious to know how long others waited from the time their case displayed as "ready" until receiving Packet 3. Since I have no idea if the time we have been waiting is abnormal, this would be super helpful! We were told by NVC that my fiancé will receive an email - is that what we should be expecting?

    Thanks so much.

Also, as a bonus question, did anyone submit the DS-160 before receiving packet 3? We were wondering if that was an okay thing to do or not...

  7. Just one Question... did you get your case updated in the USCIS website saying that it was sent to the NVC? it is just kinda confusing to me, because mine still says that was approved and they will send me the hard copy (that i already got), so not sure if i supposed to wait for the USCIS update saying that it was sent or it never change really?

Yes, I got a text and email from USCIS (and I checked my status on the website to confirm) stating that my case was sent to the dept of state for processing. I received those notifications on February 3.

  8. I'm finally getting around to joining this thread (which I'm very grateful to be able to do after that seemingly endless wait at TSC!). We got our Noa2 on January 28, and our case was sent to NVC on February 2. I figured it would be a long shot, but I called NVC today and waited about a half an hour (listening to horrible music - do they play that in the hopes that people will hang up? teehee) to be told that my case hadn't been received yet. The woman told me that it can take 5 weeks for the case to be received, which I refuse to believe. I'll call again next week.
