  1. My parents and I lived in the US since 1999 on an E2 visa as they have a company here but never had PR.

I was able to give my parents their PR through my K1 visa marriage after I became a citizen, so unfortunately they’ve only received their PR a little under a year ago. We just gathered all of our resources to be in a place to be able to apply for my brother now :)

  2. Hello everyone! I’m wondering if anyone can help with giving me a starting point.

My parents have been living here in the US for a number of years now with their permanent residency card, I am a US citizen.

My mothers son (my half brother) is 39 years old and he is a special needs person who is also handicapped and incapable of self maintained living. At the moment he is living outside of the country with family, and spends half of the year with us and half of the year with the international family.

Now that my parents have become permanent residents, we are looking to find the best possible way to sponsor him to live with us with as little wait time as possible as it is very stressful and hard for him to be away from his parents and not have access to proper medical care.

He will be back with us in about 2 weeks, and I am trying to figure out the best time to file (where maybe I can file while he’s here and I don’t have to wait 4 months until he goes back) to reduce the stress of care on everyone.

What matter is your income. Not sure how far you are in process, NVC Will ask for your most recent taxes. If they will get interview this year. File 2019 jointly or even separately as long you are above poverty line. Your parents visa isn’t depended on your marriage status. If income is an issue, you can use you siblings income to back you up. (Affidavit   support)

If I’m not mistaken, the official date on file where the papers started getting processed was in September, and about a month later they had to do biometrics. I currently have a part time job, and full-time university. My parents have a company set up here in the US, and they make well above the poverty line. Do you think there’s a chance that my income would even be vetted?

You're as a US citizen can sponsor your parents anytime you want. Your husband has nothing to do with that

No yeah I completely get that, it’s just we were reading some forums that say that immigration can reopen your case if you file for divorce and potentially revoke your citizenship.

I have an unreasonably anxious fear of immigration in this current time policy 😅

  5. Hey guys.. it’s a sad topic but it is what it is, and I would love your opinions on this topic.

My husband and I have been together for a really long time, since 2012 senior year of HS, and been through a lot. Unfortunately, as life goes we’ve decided that we don’t see our relationship moving forward. Nothing crazy, but we’re both about to graduate with engineering degrees and... our lives are just taking us both in different directions with different goals and aspirations.

I recently became a citizen, back in July, and since started filing for my parents to obtain green cards (they already live in the US through e2 visas.). I started filing for them in August.

My husband and I are considering whether it would be wiser to stay married until they complete their filing, or go ahead and start the divorce processes now. What are your opinions? He, neither I, want to hinder my parents processes in the green card obtaining.

  6. Hi guys!

I'm filing for permanent residency for my parents.

I'm currently a US citizen, and my parents live here in the US under an E-2 work visa.

My mother is the primary holder of the visa, she's never had a work permit before.

My father works under my mother for the company, he holds a work visa.

As I understand, for my father, I should file an I-765 to renew his current work permit that will expire in February.

For my mother I'm a bit confused on whether I should file an I-765, or an I-817...

    Thoughts?

  7. Hey guys! I finally got my green card in hand after years of stress since the moment I've filed my K-1. Finally most of my stress is alleviated, however, I keep racking my brain trying to figure our the best way to remember the date I need to file my ROC!! What are some ways you guys are doing it? I'm literally stumped, and I don't want to write Feb 16th, 2018 all over my walls... LOL

  8. Hey guys!! I got my green card! My approval came in the mail a few days ago, and yesterday I got my actual green card in hand :P Even with the RFIE, still got my green card just under 6 months. It doesn't feel really "almost" over until the green card is in hand. All the stress from K1 up till now feels over hahaha

Good luck to anyone else waiting on approvals! I hope my approval brings some hope to the ones still waiting~

  9. I see, that sounds great. I do have one last question. What if he can't get a job? One of the reasons why he went back and forth was also that he had been sick BUT has recovered but he still have problems with his eyes and he gets easily tired on top of that he'll be going back to school. Maybe there would be another way?

Im not too sure what you guys can do in that case :( I'm sorry! I'll try to Google it!

  10. @sincerelymeike

    No not at the moment

What happened for me and my husband, was that our cosponsor did not make enough money since she just had a child. Prior to that my husband only had a really low paying student job that he couldn't sponsor me with. During the filing process he got a really good job that made enough money for sponsorship. The only problem was that the job was only 1 month old and he didn't have the job on his tax return as yet. We ended up sending in the 4 pay stubs that he had, his old tax returns (which really don't prove or show anything), a letter from his boss saying the job is permanent and that he is making 22k a year, and bank account statements from a yearsingle worth. We got approved with that :) just giving some tips if he ends up getting a job before you need to figure out sponsor for interview!

  11. Yes, thankfully I filed in December for the K1 and it went to California. Interview is next week although we could have scheduled it earlier but we waited until I had the time off to attend so if all goes well he will make the birth of our child. DR is very hard to get visitor visas and a CR1 would have taken longer so the company I went through advised me right and made sure paperwork was done efficiently and accurately.

Wow you guys are so lucky you filed when you did! I'm not sure they're doing tsc transfers to csc anymore! If you have your appt next week, I think you very well might make it for may! This is so awesome!

  12. As far as I know the expiration date on the visa is because of the medical, IF they grant you a visa extension you may have to go do another medical report. However, I remember reading on the letter I got from the embassy that they do not grant visa extensions, and if you miss your visa entry date you will have to reapply does k1 all over again.
