  1. I filed as head of household because i claimed my daughter. I specifically asked the lady that was doing my tax and she told me that it would not be an issue at all. She had dealt with cases like mine before and it was never an issue. I will amend to MFJ when my hisband gets here.

    Some updates:

My husband did his medical today and they told him to come back on March 17 to get the sealed envelope. I also called NVC rhe other day to check if my documents has been shipped to the embassy in Haiti yet and they told me either the end of this week or next week. When it gets to the embassy i am going to try to get an earlier interview date. My current interview date is April 26.

    Good luck everyone

  2. Tomorrow my husband will go for his medical appointment. I need to DHL everything I've collected for him for the interview (April 5th!). I have the originals and the copies in there but realized I should pull everything out and have a copy for myself of what I've sent.

Putting this much trust into DHL is difficult for me! I asked them how much I could insure it for, I thought $2,000 since I would have to take a week off from work if everything needed to be replaced and sent again, they said only up to $500 :/

We are getting so close and I am missing my husband more and more. Hoping he is here soon :)

If you need copies, you should scan them. I always scan all the documents that I submit. Then when you need copies all you have to do is print them. I understand your feeling about sending original documents through dhl but it is a risk we have to take in this tedious process.

  3. Good morning everyone! I am very excited to hear of a lot of people getting interview dates. I was hoping to see some Haiti interview dates on here too to give me some hope, so far no luck. I have been calling NVC everyday, and the reps have been really nice in answering my question but so far still no interview dates assigned yet. I looked on the spreadsheet to get an idea on how much time it would take. there only seems to be a few on there and they did not take long at all to give them an interview date after case completed. my cc was Feb 3. I am just venting a little.

    Good luck everyone

  4. Hi everyone,

I might have made a booboo. I filed my taxes in January but I filed as head of household. When I had filled out the tax papers at work, it says that if spouse lives out of the country to check single. So I thought I could also file the same way. I asked the accountant who did my taxes for and is aware of the immigration process I am undergoing and she said that filing as head of household and not as married filing separately or jointly should be fine since my husband is not in USA yet. She said that she dealt with cases like mine before and everything was fine for these people in the immigration process. Do you guys think that 's going to be an issue at the interview? I already requested the 2015 transcript for my husband to have at the interview but not to provide them to them unless they ask for it.

    Comments are welcome.

Thank you and good luck everyone

  5. Hi everyone. I noticed some of you mentioned calling NVC and obtaining the interview date on the phone before the letter reaches you. When you call what do you say or ask? I know in my country my husband would not be able to do the medical exam until the actual email or letter is in hand, but knowing the interview date in advance will take away some anxiety. I want to make sure when I call and I ask the question right so the rep would be willing to give me the interview date if it has been assigned.

Thank you and good luck everyone

  6. they received my I-130 one July 30

and my file were approved on December

i did all my six steps only and was able to sent my AOS which they receive on the end of January.

all fees are paid. i'm just waiting. this month will be the longest month in my life.

Thanks for taking time to reply to me dwheels76 :-)

Hi my husband is from Haiti too. I think you meant if you did not send the "extrait d'archive" of the marriage certificate if you would get a RFE. From my experience I submitted a copy of the marriage certificate and my case was completed and got no checklist. it took them about 5 weeks to review my documents. I am now awaiting to be given an interview date. You will need to bring the original marriage certificate or the "extrait d'archive" of the marriage certificate to the interview. From what I have been hearing it is better to bring the "extrait d'archive" of the marriage certificate to the interview(harder to falsify that one).

P.S. Create a timeline so we can follow what stage you are on.

    Good luck

  7. Yay!!! I checked online today and saw that I had the 3 N/As the members talk about. So I just called NVC at around 9:47AM, my hold was 1 minute long and the representative informed me that my case was completed yesterday and that I should receive an email within a week to that regard and after that I will receive another email with an interview date. Hopefully I get an interview date within 2 weeks. FYI: Scan date was December 28,2015; case completed February 3, 2016. Yay!!! Things are starting to look brighter and we are closer to the end of this journey.

    Good luck to everyone

  8. This waiting really sucks. My scan date for my documents at NVC was December 28th. I called to check if they have had a chance to review them, they told me that I have to allow 30 to 45 days to review. Hopefully I am not missing any document, which will delay things even more. I was hoping that my husband would have been with me by Valentine's day. It does not look like it's going to happen. I cannot wait to be done with this process and have my husband with me. We have a two month old, and he has not seen her in person yet and I cannot go right now because I just went back to work after maternity leave. Sorry everyone, just a little rant this morning. Good luck to everyone and wish you a speedy and positive process.

  9. I see several people mentioning that when they have gotten 3 N/As it means that case is completed. Where should I be looking to see these N/As. I received an email today from NVC telling me that they are getting a high volume of mail and that they have my documents and to allow them 30 days from the day they received it for them to review. Has anyone gotten something like that?

    Thanks

  10. Hi everyone,

Did anyone receive an email like this? This was attached to the email

    "

    Dear Sir/Madam

The National Visa Center(NVC received your documents on 28-DEC-15. We are experiencing high volume of incoming mail at this time. Please allow 30 days from the date we received your mail for the NVC to review your documents. We are diligently working to reduce our review time and appreciate your patience. The NVC will notify you after our review if there is additional information required or we are able to schedule your case for an interview overseas."

This was such a teaser. When I got the notification on my phone that I got an email from NVC, I was all excited but it looks like the waiting continues.

  11. I got the dreaded RFE in the mail today. It says that it is an intent to deny based on the fact that they believe that my marriage is not a true marriage. They are giving me 30 days to prove otherwise. I provided so many proof already. Last year I had filed for k1 visa and at the interview process my fiance at the time got denied( they did not believe that we had a true relationship) In this new letter for I130, they mentioned the previous petition and they said that they believe that I got married just to help him get his papers.(so frustrating hear that when people that are actually doing it for business are getting approved and the people with true relationships are given a hard time) First thing Tuesday, I will be sending them all the recent proof that I have. (Good thing I just visited him this past August). These are the proof I am sending: New pics taken on my last trip with my pregnancy, letter from my doctor attesting to my due date and conception date, copy of stamped passport pages, western unon transactions, ultrasound pics of our baby, copy of marriage certificate and translation, Cover letter stating evidence being sent.... I will be paying the extra money so they can receive it on wednesday. Hopefully I get a quick turnaround. I wish good luck to everyone else. About to give birth any day now, and now this frustration. Staying hopeful.
