  1. I entered USA with immigration visa. At the port of entry(Toronto, ON), immigration officer verified my documents and changed visa category to IR1 from CR1, considering I was married over 2 years.(My wife is US Citizen). Officer also wrote the same on my passport and stamped.

After few months, I received my original Permanent Resident Card showing category CR1 instead of IR1.

I contacted USCIS about this and advised to file I-90. Which I filled  with all the evidence(marriage certificate, passport stamp, PHOTOCOPY of the Permanent Resident Card).

After almost 1 year of constant followup with the USCIS on my I-90 application, USCIS officer finally looked at my application and raised  request for evidence(RFE) to submit original Permanent Resident Card.

In response to RFE, I submitted my ORIGINAL Permanent Resident Card.

after one month USCIS denied with remark 'You have submitted PHOTOCOPY of your Permanent Resident Card. Therefore, you have not demonstrated eligibility for issuance of a replacement Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card.' My Original Permanent Resident Card is now with USCIS.

I have submitted G-884 to request original Card back.

what should I do now? Please help. Thank you

  2. finally got my interview date! March 27. Was hoping for something earlier but oh well. Hopefully the end to this process is near.

Anyone know if Montreal is lenient with moving interview dates to something earlier? I want to try my luck (and finally get lucky for once in this process lol). How would I go about requesting for a change in date? (I know I have to wait until montreal gets my files)

    Congratulations....

  3. Hi all -- Just had our AOS fee change to N/A! Waiting to confirm with NVC next week, but I think we've finally gotten our case complete!

How long did you have to wait for your case complete email? How about your interview email? Just curious how quickly things move from this point forward.

So excited to be finally at the last step of the process. That was a long 12+ months!

Congratulations for CC......our AOS status changed on 30th Dec and we received email on 7th Jan .......interview email received on 17th Jan......the only time we called NVC was to confirm case complete.......good luck

  4. As long as he confirmed the new date with the Consulate, I imagine there would be no worries.....

I find it much more interesting that NVC called to confirm this with you.... you're the second VJ member I've seen post about NVC calling to remind/confirm the interview...... interesting.....

Thank you for the response..... It was surprising to me too .....anyways I hope they speed up process so everyone can get through it fast

    wow, that's interesting.

I have not heard of such personalized service. Perhaps this is one of their initiatives being implemented....???

Personally, I;d rather them speed up processing cc than phone call reminders

    I agree with you.......

  5. Hello all.......wishing good luck for all who have interview scheduled........ My husband rescheduled his interview with Montreal embassy so his new date is march 16th ......originally it was 5th Feb.....today I received a call from NVC telling me 5th Feb is confirmed date and I said no he rescheduled it for 16th march.......she said oh he was able to do that OK then .....should we worry about this?..........

  6. So apparently it is not cold enough in Winnipeg...we had to go to Montreal to get frostbite..lol!! Hubby and I landed just before 1 PM and managed to find our way to where the buses run from. The bus pass (Opus) for a week now costs $25.50, plus the charge for the card itself - $6.00, which totals $31.50. Still a good deal considering a taxi would charge $40 or more for one one-way trip from the airport to the hotel. We are going to be here 8 days, so well worth it. The 747 takes you right into downtown Montreal where everything is.

Blowing snow with a -31 degree windchill...sweet, but it can't damper our spirits. We are nearly done with this! Will share more as it goes. I have my medical at Medisys tomorrow morning at 11:15, and then we are literally free and loose on the city until my interview on the 10th. Good luck everyone! I will check in as things progress!!

    Good luck for the interview

  7. Hello,

My immigration visa interview was scheduled by NVC on 05-Feb-2015. Unfortunately I am not able to attend the same. As per instruction for Montreal embassy, I have reschedule my visa interview on 16-March-2015.

    I have questions about following.

1 - For medical and interview, are old interview letter from NVC and reschedule confirmation enough?

2 - There is clause on Montreal embassy reschedule instruction as below. Does it have any impact on IR1/CR1 interviews?

"For some family based and employment preference visa categories a visa became available within the month you have been scheduled by NVC. There is absolutely no guarantee that the visa will be available again on the date of your rescheduled interview."

    Thanks,

    OnlyHope

  8. You are really stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because you can't do anything until the case gets to the embassy. However since ts so soon. I would try yo email them right now since you want a later date Be prepared to be moved a month or more ahead like March.

Email Montreal now tell them you situation that you need a later date and see. Tell them you interview date. Don't get picky and ask for a particular date.

Hopefully they will do it without your casefile being there.

yeah we understand its difficult but my husband doesnt have his passport on hand right now and we are not sure if it will arrive in time for medical and interview........thank you for the quick response........we will try to email them today and explain them our situation........

    I didn't get the p4 letter. CC dec 30 ):

I didn't even get the cc email.

    Just my luck ):

try calling NVC.........i am sure yours will be scheduled in feb..............dont loose hope..............good luck

  9. hello VJ family...................so happy we finally got interview date...............i have a question if anyone can answer us please...........how far ahead do we have to notify the embassy or NVC to change the date for the interview.........we might have to reschedule the interview so how do we contact montreal embassy to change the date.........................thank you in advance......................

  10. nice. I didnt get an email as of yet. Apparently the P4 emails can be as late as 7 days after they schedule the interview. So best bet is to call them.

I will also call them at the end of the week or early next week to see if interview scheduled.

we got it early morning so i think yours should arrive by tomorrow...........yeah calling them is the only option just so we know early and book medical apt accordingly

  11. So...my interview is set for Feb 10 at 10:30. I scheduled with Medisys yesterday, and the best he could do for me was Feb 3 at 11:30. I live in Winnipeg and explained that we only want to make the trip to Montreal once. He said that because there is a weekend in there, in order to ensure that the results would be done in time for the interview, the latest appointment available which would safely work for me was the 3rd. The guy was really nice, and told me to bring 5 passport photos, my immunization record, my interview letter, and told me the cost would be $310 (unless any immunizations are needed) payable in cash, debit or credit card.

I am not sure if this long wait time is normal even with a weekend, but my husband and I have planned to use his hotel points for 7 nights, and a coworker of mine who is from Montreal is providing me with lots of tourism info, so we are making the trip a sort-of honeymoon :).

Looking forward to the next step of the journey in less than a month! :dancing:

    oh great congratulations..........
