  1. i knw its very frustrating

i didn get that who has two birthday dates..that was so dumb of him asking that..?

yes we live in madison WI

and my wife's name is kristina but her last name is pretty damm different ..

About two birthday dates.. the only thing i can think of is in my home country we would write October 30th, 2014 as 30/10/2014 and in US it would be written as 10/30/2014.. so maybe that's where confusion comes from..

You guys said the officer was Mexican, maybe his in-laws are giving him grief?

Im thinking that the crying question could also be religion based..

  2. i m so sorry ..my interview experience is making every body depressed...but trust me it will help all the rest of you a lot..!!

yes i m indian ...and my wife is white.....

that is the whole point...i mean why would thy cry ..??

I'm so sorry you guys had to go through this..

I also don't get a different birthday date question.. does your wife have a pretty common name?

Do you guys live in Wisconsin?

  3. I don't think I attached my marriage license to the i765.. It looks like that's the only file that was touched so they may need it? Can't think of anything I missed really.. we went through the package like 10x each before submission.

Also, processing times for RFE don't seem to be very quick.. I'll probably talk to my manager tomorrow and start training someone to do my work.

Kinda really scared right now >.>

I'm very sorry to hear about your RFE.

Have you tried calling FBI about your fingerprints?

Consider contacting a congressperson, if local doesn't work, go for neighboring congress people. Congress reps have the power to contact the person handling your case directly. If none of these work, I can give you the number of the congress rep that helped me out.

We are here for you, try not to be scared :)

  4. Hi everybody.

My hubby and I sent the papers in August. The papers got to the Nebraska Center on August 13th. Then, I got a letter for the Bio so I went to take the fingerprints on Sept 11th in Boston. I havent received anything else, no updates from the website either. Sadly, we didnt send the file to have updates in the cellphone or email so sometimes I get confused related to what NOA/AP, etc mean. Also, do i have to call immigration after 75 days of sending the papers to immigration and not receiving any answer after the fingerprints? What should I ask about? I am sorry if I have too many questions, but I am getting frustrated. Hope somebody can help me! Thanks in advance!

Hi. You can follow this link https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/selectusertype.jsp and sing up for an account, you will add your notice of action numbers and will be able to see updates on your case.

  5. We are still waiting with nothing whatsoever happening. It's so very frustrating to see people who've applied WEEKS after us get theirs so fast, without expediting. Very annoying. But I suppose I should be used to this... we filed Feb 1 for K1, and a boatload of people had their NOA2's long before us also. August 2nd might as well have been Sept 2, with as slowly as this is going. Booooooooooo. :ranting:

That said, I AM truly happy for those of you who are progressing and have your EAD/AP and interview appointments. We'll cheer for you every step of the way. :)

Have you guys contacted your congressperson for an expedite? if yes, then you should give them a call and get an update on your case. My congress rep called me with updates and forwarded emails with his communication with uscis.

I also found on some other forum that you can call FBI (Fingerprint Status (304) 625-2000 ) to check on your fingerprint status.

  6. I don't think that new fees will affect our pending cases. The instructions for the forms say that we have to pay the fees appropriate for the filing date of the case.

My EAD got approved on Monday :dancing:

I had it expedited, if anyone is interested in the expedite story you can read it here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/510868-ead-expedite-non-finacial-reason/?p=7234224

So my I765 is in Card/Document production stage since 9/8, i485 is in Acceptance stage, I130 in Initial review stage. i485 and i130 haven't been touched since August 8th ( the date the biometrics letter was sent).

  7. Just to give an update to the story:

My biometrics were scheduled for 9/2/14, I attempted a walk-in as soon as I got the notice with the appointment in the mail - Phoenix USCIS office didn't allow me to do a walk-in. So I decided to submit all necessary paperwork to the local congressman so they have it by the time my biometrics are done. I called the congressman office and got the information on the paperwork they needed and set up an appointment with them ( I prefer to do things in person and not over the phone/mail).

    Paperwork they needed:

    1. NOA for my I-765

    2. Marriage certificate ( I changed my last name)

    3. Job offer letter ( The department chair wrote a job offer letter for me explaining what an important asset I am and explained my duties in a lot of detail)

    4. A personal letter from me explaining the whole situation and kind of tying all my paperwork together.

    5. Signed information release consent.

I submitted everything to the congressman office about a week before my biometrics. The representatives were all very nice and accomodating, They assigned a person to my case, his name was Steve.

When I got my biometrics done on 9/2 I called and let Steve know about that change, he let me know that they have already submitted the expedite request on my behalf and were awaiting a response. On 9/9 I got a call from Steve with good news =) He congratulated me on my EAD approval and asked me for my email to send me a little bit more details on my case. In 10 minutes I got an email from him saying that my EAD should arrive in the mail within 2 weeks. There was also a little explanation on how my track my case ( haha I had been doing it 3 times a day every day ). He also said when my EAD gets mailed I will see a USPS tracking number when I track my case.

Note: I never called USCIS to request an expedite myself.

I am very excited and in a couple days I'm going to start stalking our mailman :content:

  8. Haven't checked this forum in a while.. Castlerosse, any update on this?

Just got a letter in the mail stating that my deferred action expires in 100 days and saying it's imperative I reapply.
Also there was an AR-11(?) Attached saying I never informed them of my change of address. Although I'm positive I did and shouldn't they know there's another application pending?
    -a little nervous

Did you have any other applications with USCIS before the current ones? My first thought on this was that you had something pending when you sent in your current application and the old one got deferred action. Anyway, fingers crossed everything works out.

  9. kehills, I have another question. While going through this forum I have found instructions on calling USCIS and requesting and expedite: ( found here http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/453753-how-to-request-to-expedite-your-ead-based-on-a-job-offer/ )

"I was given a list of reasons as to why my expedited EAD may be considered. These reasons are:

    • Severe financial loss to company or individual
    • Extreme emergent situation
    • Humanitarian situation
    • Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States
    • Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)
    • USCIS error
    • Compelling interest of USCIS "

Which reason should I choose? Which reason did your husband choose?

Can it be considered extreme emergent situation?

  10. I got my biometrics appointment letter today, dated august 15th with appointment scheduled for September 2nd. I had some free time today, so decided to drive to my uscis(phoenix) to attempt a walk in. I got there at 3 pm and the building was empty. The security guards were very nice, they got my appointment letter and tried to find out if I can do my biometrics right then. Unfortunately I couldn't.. they said they do biometrics only on a scheduled date and then mumbled something about bar codes and having to send documents off to Washington( ???). Oh well, just going to have to wait..

Is anyone here going to expedite their ead?

And good luck to everyone on their journey :)

  11. You'll need to do your biometrics, so walk-in if it's not this week.

Get the job offer in writing, on department letterhead, with the start date and how it's not flexible. Call and request the expedite (probably have to do a Tier II rep), and follow their instructions. Explain that you have an academic job offer, have to start on a set date, and this benefits you academically/professionally.

When you're done with them, immediately call your congresscritter, ask to talk to their immigration person, and explain the same thing: this benefits you academically, it's an academic position and thus starts at a specific time, this is a job offer so losing it isn't great, etc. Ask for their help in expediting; you'll have to fill out a permission form for them to intervene.

They should be able to get you expedited within a week, so long as you've done your biometrics.

(This is all based on how my husband expedited his EAD for an academic position.)

Thank you for a very detailed response!! I am still waiting on my biometrics appointment letter, as soon as I get one I will attempt a walk-in.

  12. Hello,

I have been an F1 student since Desember 2010, in January 2013 I started working as a TA for an electrical engineering professor at my school. I have been maintaining my status and working <20 hours/week. I got married in July 2014 and we filed i-130, I-485, I-765 concurrently in August ( view my timeline). I have graduated in May 2014 but was planning to take more courses ( for a double major) and the most important one got cancelled. My I-20 is until December 2014 as my school official was aware of my plans of taking additional courses for a double major. It is unreasonable for me to take a full load of courses this semester as the most important class got cancelled, so I cannot maintain F1 status and work for my professor anymore.

This professor is very sick and has been scheduled to go for treatments throughout Fall 2014 semester, so he will have to be absent from several classes and labs that he teaches. While I was working for him I would step in and lecture/do reviews/ help students with the lab work, as I am very familiar with all the material taught in classes. The engineering department really wants to keep me, as it is hard to find somebody who is as familiar with the materials taught in these classes.

Anyway, do you guys think it is reasonable to apply for EAD expedite based on these premises?

  13. Do you guys think there will be a problem with mail delivery if my mailbox still has my maiden name? This is what it looks like, I filed with my husband's name I.e Jean Grey.. but my mailbox has Jean West and Will Grey.

I don't think it should be a problem, as we have the same set up with our mailbox and every once in a while we get mail for my husbands brother, while his first name is not on our mailbox. If you want to be safe you may want to put a sticker inside your mail box with your married name on it.

  14. OH GOD. I totally misunderstood your question. I apologize. Are you asking about passport photos?

    In that case I sent:

    1 US Cit. G325a

    1 Alien G325a

    2 Alien i765

    2 Alien i485

Anyone else want to pipe in on this question?

I agree with Castlerosse. I did attach 2 pics of each to G325A's and also 1 pic of US Citizen to form I-864, but it was not necessary. When I was putting the package together I was thinking 'better too many pis than not enough'. :)

On the side note, I received 3 txt messaged and 3 emails last night with my NOA's. My finger print notice (I assume i 485) is being processed at the Nebraska center and is at Acceptance stage. i-130 and i-765 are at the initial review stage .

Good luck and lots of patience to everyone waiting :)
