  1. I dont know why people suggest only postponing entering the USA mentioning that you can enter the US within 6 months. In fact you may also take your time before the interview. Your NOA2 received in March is valid about 4 months, so officially this is the term you need to have your interview. But even if your NOA2 expires (e.g. it's valid till August 19) you may extend its validity with the consulate at your home country where you are going to have your interview for k1 visa. Plus yes, the 6 months after the interview that everyone mentioned. Plus 90 days to get married after you enter the US. And though USCIS recommends to file for adjustment of status as soon as possible after the marriage, you may wait for any period of time before doing so in case of financial difficulties, though it would be better not to exceed your I94 for more than 6 months.

And I completely agree with Abbumimapa if your fiance has some problems at work (income or taxes related), it's better to consider finding a co-sponsor.

  2. We decided that "all documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident Status" means NOA2 (form of approval of k1 petition) and just in case I took I94.

In addition to the documents already mentioned, I had a copy of my medical examination from my home country (we had only a vaccination sheet filled in by the civil surgeon), and it was a very good idea, because the officer who interviewed us couldnt find the original of the medical examination I had prior to the k1 visa interview and he wanted to see something particular there. He made a copy of my copy and highlighted smth there and made notes in the paper.

And he also wanted to see my previous J1 visa.

So it's safer to bring as much relevant paperwork.

As a proof of bona fide relationship he took our pictures, some pages of the lease contract and papers stating benefits from my husband's job that I am entitled to.

  3. Your approval is pending with supervisor approval, IO recommended your case for approval but supervisor hasn't approved it yet.

How long does superior's approval usually takes? We have a similar situation with only difference that the interview took place 3 weeks ago and still no updates but during the interview we were told that my green card was approved. Is there anything I can do at the moment?

  4. My wife and I recently get really discouraged. After filing on February 17th and doing Fingerprints on March 13th, and getting on RFE for initial evidence, none of our apps changed for a long time except the interview date which was today (more about that in a bit).

However on May 5th the application for the advance parole changed to "case was approved". Great, but the EAD did not change. Four days ago or so I checked the advance parole application again and it said "on May 11th you case was approved" even though that had already happened a week before. In the EAD application there was still no change.

Yesterday evening, the evening before today's interview I checked the employment application again and it had changed to "card in production", which was funny because it happened one day before the interview. A few hours later however it said" case was approved ". Isn't that weird ??? What should we think about this ??? :-(

Regarding the interview this morning, to make it short, we were pretty disappointed to not get approved right away. It was interesting to see that one of the officers basically approved every client, wishing them all the best, afterwards while we were waiting and our soon to be officer did not approve any of the clients before us.

The interview itself seemed to work fine, wet could answer every question nicely and correctly, she did not have to sperate us and

Seemed to accept every document we provided her with. (Insurance documents, lease, bank accounts documents) but did not seem very interested in our love story and any of our pictures. However, she seemed happy with every answer we gave.

When we were done she said that she won't approve us today but that everything seems fine to her and that unless she needs anything or finds anything crazy (her words) she will be finished in two to three weeks.

That was a complete shock to us as we had prepared for this interview really well and brought so much documentation that we thought we surely would get approved. Right now we are both very sad and frankly concerned. Do you think something could have been wrong with our background check and that is why it might take longer ? I have never committed any crime in neither my home country or the USA, nor did I do ANYTHING wrong ever (seriously).is there reason to be concerned ? Is there anything we can done ? We really am not sure how this could have happened and am very sad right.

All the best to you guys in the meantime

Lovethemidwest, have you got any news following the situation?

  5. Goodness, I wonder if service requests are in a sense "disabled" for a specific receipt number until it reaches a certain date (since the error message says "not compatible with....and receipt number MSCxxxx). I half understand why mine is taking so long, but if your interviewer specifically said you have been approved, I would call again and try to submit a request by phone. Unfortunately there are no other numbers (that I'm aware of anyways), just the one call center number.

I dont know what's wrong with their system, but when I check my I-131 petition online, the web-site says "Your application or petition is currently within the posted processing times. An inquiry may not be created at this time" but when I check my AOS petition I still get the same message. I know a person who is from the same country as I am, came here on the same visa (K1) and lives in the same state, went to the same field office 2 days ago and her status changed to "welcome notice" on the following day.

So it's not that the field office is overloaded with petitions.

And plus, we called again yesterday (yesterday it was 3 weeks since the interview) and no useful information was said. Only in addition that I cannot submit an inquiry before it's been 5 months.

I am just afraid that they lost my case (here is the irony - after the actual interview) but refuse to admit it.

  6. How to make an inquiry? When i try to submit an inquiry here (outside normal processing times) https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?sroPageType=onpti get some kind of an error saying 500 Servlet Exception and that "For input string: "The service or article

you selected is not compatible with form I485, sub-type selected, and receipt number MSC xxxxxx". How else can I make inquiry? Over the phone I am told that I need to wait for FIVE months before they can actually let us make any inquiry. Maybe there is a phone number that I dont know about? Or another way to do it?

And yes, the officer said that my green card was approved and also gave me a paper (though without his signature) saying that on April 30 I was granted conditional permanent residence. Moreover he mentioned 3-6 weeks that it would take for me to get a green card but also added that usually it happens sooner and faster. But so far no green card, no onine updates, no decision made. I dont really understand why it is taking so long.

  7. To prove that your marriage real you may use pictures of you two, including pictures with friends and family, letters, cards that have both of your names on them, also bills with both of your names, a copy of your marriage certificate is a proof too. Maybe some other correspondence, bills that your spouse paid for you (for example, medical bills or mail receipts if you mailed any packages to your home country) can be a proof too. Some people even attach wedding dress receipts etc.

  8. I feel like I am again waiting for NOA2. It's like I am back in the past again with all impatience, anxiety and frustration. I think I didnt check my status so often even then. Now it's everyday several times a day, but still nothing. But I guess I cannot complain because you, guys, had your interviews earlier than me and have been waiting for any decision longer.

I've read a story of a girl who was sent a RFE two weeks later after the interview though she was told that she would receive her green card mid-May and everything was ok. And then two more weeks later USCIS denied her petition for a green card and annulled her combo-card because of the divorce papers

  9. My husband and I had the interview on April 30 in Atlanta. The officer was not young at all and didn't ask many questions. He was mainly busy with the paperwork. He looked very thoroughly at my medical papers and asked for medical form from my home country, fortunately I took a copy of it to the interview.

He asked for some evidence. I gave him pictures, lease contract, papers from my husband's work stating that I also receive the benefits such as medical insurance etc. And then he said no more, though I wanted to show him other stuff but he did not need it. The interview itself was very short. And he said that we were approved and starting from April 30 I am a permanent resident and I would receive my green card within 3-6 weeks. He said that my card would have the date of April 30th on it. He also added that it was a standard wording so that people would not get their hopes up and in fact card usually arrives faster. And morever he explained us about removal of conditions in 2 years, when to submit the form for it and even the key points of applying for a citizenship.

Based on everything he said I thought everything was fine and even better than it could be. I thought it was approval. But as of today there are still no news or updates on the USCIS website and it says "On March 25 we scheduled you for an interview and mailed you an interview notice. Your interview is on April 30, 2015"

We called the USCIS but they could not say anything besides wait for 10 days after the interview and also that the processing times of the office in Atlanta for AOS is only August and it may take 6 months.

I dont understand what happened, the interviewed seemed to go really smoothly but there is no decision yet for some reason.

  10. Panssey... the amount of time it takes to update the site probably depends on the location where you had your interview. Since they aren't coming from a central location you'd want to message other people from your local geographical area to see if your local office is slow on these things. I wouldn't worry too much about it. In fact, I'd bet that the next update will say something about your Green Card being printed (and that might be centralized). Congrats on finishing the interview!

Thank you but a week later still there are no updates on USCIS web-site.

  11. I went there today. Here is Atlanta they were asking for the EAD card itself, birth certificate, passport and that is all.

Guys, i applied for SSN and Drivers license and both are going to be delayed, because neither of the offices were able to verify my immigration status on E-Verify. Is anyone else experiencing this?

The same thing happened to me at the DDS office (also in GA), they said they couldn't see me in the system and that they would need to contact the immigration, confirm my legal status in the country, then I would be contacted that I can get my state ID.

I thought I would not hear from anyone but a week later the officer from the DDS office actually called me and said that everything was ok and I could finish the process and get my state ID.

And the officer at the interview said that it happened because I applied for my ID within less than a month after I got my combo-card and that the delay between two systems is about a month.

  12. You dont need a Brasilian visa to go to Brasil, that's your home country, it's a country of your citizenship. Just use your passport to enter Brazil and use a green card to enter the USA when you are going back. You may be asked for a copy of your marriage certificate if your last names in your passport and your green card are different. And do not leave the USA for longer than 6 months.

But overall you should be fine.
