  1. My husband and I had to travel out of the country last week and just came back today. We did immigration at Miami International Airport. Just an FYI.

Since his GC has already expired, we traveled with the NOA. Apparently, the format has changed and it took longer than usual for them to verify it was a legitimate letter. We were sent to a separate office. I accompanied him because I obviously did not want to leave him alone.

It may not happen to anyone else, but just take the necessary precautions and leave yourselves plenty of time to catch any connecting flights that you may have. Also, always travel with your original NOA.

    Best of luck to everyone.

  2. Call them again and put in another service request. Maybe schedule an infopass appointment too. Fun times huh?

Just got notification that my wife's green card is now in production!! I'm pleasantly surprised how "fast" this process was for us. Exactly 5 months after NOA1.

    Congratulations !!!

Yesterday we received the Welcome Notice (NOA2), now just waiting on the Green Card

  3. Hi! I received a Notice of Interview Waiver Letter last 09/09/2015. We filed AOS last 04/30/2015 which is after 90 days of my k1 visa. And today USCIS sent me a message that there is a status update. I checked the USCIS webiste and it says:

    New Card Is Being Produced

Is my AOS approved? :joy: I don 't want to get my hopes high though. I hope someone can answer me.

And lastly, will there be a problem coz of my late filing during AOS if I apply for citizenship in the future? :content:

Thank you in advance. Have a blessed day everyone! :goofy:

    Congratulations. !!!

  4. Hi guys I want to know if this as ever happen to anyone.. me and my daughter status went from they accept finger print fee to welcome notice sent no interview or anything. We got a rfe for my daughter in june we sent it in july now we get this I'm in new york and I filed april 27 so this is soo surprising to me. I was out of status over a year because of financial difficulties but we filed and this is the outcome I'm soo surprised whew..

Congrats. I've seen a couple of NY filers getting approved without an interview and without waiting so many months.

I filed in NY too just a 1 or 2 days from you so hopefully ours get approved too.

  5. Hi, we are also from NYC and we got approved almost month ago, with no RFE. I got my NPIW in late July, an month later, we were approved. I hope your case will be approved soon too.

You give me hope :joy: . I would be extremely happy if my the end of this year my husband gets his green card. It would be a miracle.

DId you send pictures or additional proof of marriage in your initial package?

  6. Much like the other posts previous to this one, received an update yesterday that my AOS had been approved and that my GC is in production.

Wasn't expecting this after the interview waiver letter stating a "big back log" and "up to 6 months"

Thank you to anyone who has helped with my questions and all the best to everyone else applying.

Wow thats great. It gives me hope that our case will get approved without having to wait so many months. We are in NYC too.

    Congratulation!!!

  7. That is not bad at all because as of July 31, 2015 the New York City Field Office is processing I-485 application filed November 2014.

I think it is better to wait for several months without an interview than wait for about the same length of time and then have an interview.

Too bad New York City Field Office is so behind :(

I am in NYC too. After 6 months I can place a service request but NYC is taking anywhere from 8-12 months to approve GC

  8. Check this info out:

Welcome to all the new people joining the NPIW club. For those of you that don't know already, here's what to expect.
Your cases are currently being held at the National Benefits Centre. USCIS will tell you that this is the period when 'background' checks are done. The truth is that those background checks are done before your EAD/AP cards were issued. The truth of the matter is that your cases are just being held until they can be processed. Sometimes a random case escapes very quickly but for the most part, cases remain incarcerated for many months,

After an unspecified amount of months your case will be released and forwarded to a local office for adjudication. The NBC does not adjudicate NPIW cases which they ceased doing in 2012 due to not having the necessary resources. USCIS will look to see which office in the country has the most 'spare capacity' to process your case - i.e. which is the least back-logged. This takes NO account of where you live. I live in Ohio and my case was adjudicated by the Newark NJ local office. We have also seen Florida cases adjudicated in California and NYC cases sent to Houston TX. Once again, IT IS EXTREMELY UNLIKELY THAT YOUR LOCAL OFFICE WILL PROCESS YOUR CASE.

New USCIS instructions in 2014 state that ALL medicals are now only valid for a year: http://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-issues-new-policy-form-i-693-report-medical-examination-and-vaccination-record You may therefore get an RFE for a new medical once your case has been transferred to a local office. Some people do, some people don't - it really depends on whether the adjudicating officer had a nice breakfast and upon which way the wind is blowing.

Thinking of calling the USCIS mis-information line? My advice is don't bother. Nothing helpful ever seems to come from this and it only results in increased frustration.

Service requests - you can raise a service request once your case is outside normal processing times. Even though your case isn't going to be processed by your local office you have to wait until your local office processing date is past your priority date. Such cases usually result in an email or letter stating that there is a further delay and USCIS are unable to state when your case will be processed. You also have the option of raising an Ombudsman enquiry.

Could your case still be sent to a local office for interview? Yes. Even after a year of waiting. Your online status will [should] be updated if this is the case.

On the brighter side, after a flurry of Ombudsman complaints a few months ago, NPIW cases do seem to be getting processed faster now.

    Good luck everyone.
