I honestly don't know. Since you filed your N-400, your end goal is citizenship anyway. You cut in line by filing this way since you never know when I-751 will be approved if you wait - and total wait time for N-400 is the same with combined or not.

For me, I stopped caring a while back and was pleasantly surprised when my ROC was approved as everything was pointing towards a combined I-751/N-400 file.. But CSC surprisingly refused to send my I-751 to NBC and approved instead - then sent over the file. I called Tier 2 multiple times and they kept saying that NBC had requested my I-751 to combine it - and literally a month later CSC still hadn't sent it.. I was frustrated with CSC not sending my file, but they said there's nothing I could do about it since it's all within normal processing time..

Then your applications will most likely be combined. Mine didn't go in-line until after I-751 was approved.. If yours hasn't then CSC has sent your file to NBC. You could call and ask a tier 2 - see if your I-751 has been transferred or CSC still have it.

@GreatDane: Hope that's not a blanket statement. I applied for N-400 7/29/17 and had my I-751 approved 11/27/17. In most cases, NBC requests the I-751 file from CSC/VSC if it's still pending, and once the file reaches NBC, the case is combined and in-line for interview. This just makes more and more sense given the numerous calls I had with Tier 2 officers. They all told me that my case would be combined and it will take longer because of this - since NBC had requested my I-751 (notes in my N-400 case). However, they did not see in-transit on my I-751 case and said that CSC must have forgotten to update. Now, it looks like CSC didn't send my I-751 file over and instead processed it, then sent it over (I called and asked after I-751 approval). The Tier 2 officer said that my I-751 was marked as completed and in transit to NBC. When NBC received it, they put me in-line for interview (last week).

So, some of the observations I have are: If your case is not in-line, it has not been combined and might still be approved even tho you have a pending N-400. Once In-line, the application package (N-400) is complete and will be forwarded to the field office who scheduled the interview. There seem to be edge cases where N-400 gets In-line and even scheduled - but I-751 is not approved. That I don't know how it happens - I guess a miss at NBC..

Just my 5 cents worth of observations. Take it or leave it.

Hi guys

That's my timeline

I have to say that I haven't got my 10 year GC yet ( I applied for it 05/2016)

I called USCIS numerous times but each time they send me a letter that in 60 days we will answer you back. and nothing.

recently it shows that my N400 is in line for interview I'm thinking maybe I will have a combo interview. I'm not sure how many cases are like mine.

my interview will be in Philadelphia,PA

I got a message that I am in-line for interview Friday, December 8th. I filed July 31st, NOA August 4th. Had pending I-751 but was approved a couple of weeks ago and N400 started moving again.

Got message this morning that my case status changed to testing and interview. I guess I’m in-line now. The I-751 is most likely what made stuck.. that being approved and all it looks like it’s moving again.

You are correct - but I have a N-400 pending as well and NBC requested the I-751 file from CSC to complete the N-400 file - but CSC didn't send it, instead adjudicated I-751, then sent the file. In most cases if you have a N-400 pending, they will combine your file and do I-751 and N-400 at the same time.

By the way, out of the people that have received their new cards - are your signatures on the cards? Mine said "Signature Waived" where the signature was on my previous card. I know this is valid - but thinking it might be because of Biometrics timed out and they just approved it without updated biometrics and signature missing because of that..

Ok, I called the USCIS call center..

The lady said my background check came back August 23rd (just days after Biometrics), but my file has not been forwarded to my field office because I had I-751 pending and NBC requested I-751 from CSC to complete the file and send it over to the field office. She doesn't know why CSC didn't send it over right away and waited until they approved I-751. She said that the I-751 file is now in transit to NBC. She also told me that they wouldn't send the full file to the field office until they've been able to schedule an interview - but the field office is backed up so that might take some months.

I don't know how to interpret what she is saying as I was under the impression that once the file was complete, NBC sends it to the field office for interview scheduling.. Anyway, for some reason CSC decided they didn't want to send my file to NBC and instead adjudicated my I-751, then sent it.. so it explains why I'm not in-line, because the file is not complete. On the San Francisco Field Office filers thread, someone told me that I'm pending background checks - that's why I'm not in-line yet. The lady on the phone told me that background checks completed August 23rd... So that's not the case.. I'm just waiting because the field office is backlogged. Thought you guys wanted to know.. even tho it's not I-751 information...

Absolutely no movement on my N-400. Still same status (We've received your application). I think they are waiting for the I-751 file from CSC but CSC refused to send it and instead adjudicated my I-751. Hope they'll send it now.. or something..

My biometrics were pretty much instant during AOS and ROC - so not sure why they would take a long time this time around. Either way - I called USCIS multiple times during the past two months and they've been saying that NBC requested my file from CSC and are waiting for that before proceeding with background checks.. Now, CSC did not seem to send the file to NBC and instead adjudicated the application. Not sure this means they still need to get the file from CSC or thats no longer needed since I-751 is approved...

qaszxc1234: did you apply with pending I-751? I see your timeline states you're in the same boat as me in terms of N-400 status..

I sent in my N400 late July. Went to Biometrics August 18th and have not heard anything since. I've had I-751 pending during this time and it was approved last Monday - maybe that was a blocker to be place in line for interview? - who knows.. Either way - I'm still not in-line. Anyone else on this thread with pending I-751 when applied for N-400? What's your timeline?

When did you file N400? What's your current status? What's your field office?

EDIT: Just realized I could check the tracker - and I did. Got it, we are just days apart.. I guess the delay is/was pending ROC. You might get your ROC completed as well then - before your N400 starts moving.. Might be that NBC requested your file as well, but CSC didn't send it because they were already in the process of adjudicating your I-751.. Seems thats what happened to me..

I was expecting a combo interview.. I called USCIS and spoke to tier 2 officers multiple times and even tho they said different things every time - the common thing they did say was that my application had been combined because the NBC had requested my file from CSC to be sent to them.

Guess if I was surprised getting a text Monday that my I-751 case was updated and that card was being produced - then I-751 approval letter today and text saying card was sent. And during all this NO MOVEMENT AT ALL on my N400. I am not even in-line for interview and it's been 4 months (3 months and 3 weeks since biometrics).

I guess I shouldn't be too stressed out about this (and I'm not) since I already am getting my 10yr GC in the next couple of days (unless USPS loose it somewhere). But what the heck? No update on N400 at all for 4 months?? People are getting their interviews and oaths left and right on this thread and I'm stuck where I was 4 months ago. LOL

At least I will not have a ROC interview and no combo interview at this point since N400 interview does not require spouse to be there (not that that would be an issue) - just saying..

Anywho, just my 5 cents worth of rants. lol

Got approval letter from USCIS this morning dated 11/27/2017, immigration status changed to IR6. Then just now (4:15PM) got text that status has updated. Checked casestatus on USCIS and it reads: On November 30, 2017, we mailed your new card.

my N-400 has not moved at all. I did my biometrics in August, and thats about it. It has not been moved to In-line yet..

Interesting..

I just got a text and email stating my card was ordered. I assume this means my I-751 has been approved and I am getting my 10yr card. What does not make sense is that the Tier 2 officer told me last week my I-751 file was requested by the National Benefits Center to complete my N-400 application and he told me that the cases were being combined. - Only for me to receive a green card this week - and N-400 being in the same state.

For you guys that applied for naturalization - you might still get your I-751 approval. Who knows whats going on at USCIS these days - and especially since I have been given all kinds of info from Tier 2..

Anyways, I'll keep you guys updated if I get my 10yr card or not..
